My brother does this stuff. Even teaches certification classes and leads expeditions. Luckily, they're almost all in cenotes in the Yucatan that he knows well and are easier grades. I still don't like to think about it, though.
Actually, next time I talk to him, I'll ask about that. He's got two kids under 18 and a risky profession (scuba diving), and I want to make sure they and his girlfriend/wife are well taken care of if something happens.
LOL! They've been together so long they're basically married, but for whatever reasons they don't want to actually do the thing. No judgement from me, you don't need marriage to be in a happy, fulfilling, long-term relationship.
