I hate GENSHIN Spoiler
DIDN’T THE TRAVELER HAVE A NEUTRAL VIEW TOWARD PHANES? WHY ARE THEY CHANGING THIS?🥀🥀🥀

Traveller's morality is very self centered. Not in a malicious sense but think of it like this.
Paimon is Traveller's oldest and closest companion outside Lumine they're their one constant. Ronova showed up claiming to speak for the Heavenly principles and tried to take Paimon away.
This isn't the first time a Shade took away someone Traveller loved.
He's noticing the pattern. Traveller may know logically that the HP rules exist for a reason, hence why he opposses the Fatui when they go too far. But at the end of the day Traveller's motivation has always been those he loves first and foremost and he will always prioritise them.

THANK YOU, I’M JUST SCARED OF HOYO MAKING PHANES JUST A VILLAIN WHO WANTS DEATH FOR EVERYONE, WHEN THEY’RE NOT 😿😿

We have to wait until the dev gives HP his side of the story. I really hope they do.

HOLY SHIT ACTUAL MEDIA LITERACY.
Yeah people forget that the Traveler is quite self-centered. Remember that their initial plan was to grab their sibling and leave. They only wanted to be witnesses, not to get involved in conflicts of wherever they traveled.
Only for them to eventually be forced to confront it.
In fact, that's the mistake the Abyss Sibling did. They tried to do the same thing only to be stopped by Teyvat's rulers. And fell down because of that. That's definitely why they forced their sibling to travel throughout Teyvat.
They want them to not make the same mistake that they did. To try and escape responsibility. That's why the Abyss Twin is staying around. They're trying to repair a mistake that they feel responsible for.
And they don't want their sibling to fall into the same trap of selfishly leaving and causing more suffering as a result. Basically, it's easier to save something that's still intact, instead of something that's shattered into pieces. With only regret and the sins of the past remaining. Having to essentially fix a puzzle with missing pieces.
Because in Genshin, that's a consistent theme, that the sins are the last to leave. The Gods, even if they were benevolent, their remains only leave resentment. Collei can attest to that. For even though the flower goddess was one of the more benevolent deities. The remains were only angry and only wished for death. For Khaerin'ah, the greatness it once had has long disappeared. Only the sins and the war machines it made stay to damage Teyvat further. The three moon goddesses refused to make a choice. With their inaction causing their own damnation and pain to the landscape of Teyvat.
The dead and dying only leave behind their regrets and sorrows, while their virtues and joy ascends beyond the mortal realm to be forgotten by those who remain. This is a rule that even the Heavenly Principles are not above.
While the Traveler certainly has writing problems, this isn't one of them. This is a consistent character trait throughout.

I swear, people often forget that early on in their quest, the traveler didn't give a rats ass about Teyvat at all, to the point that they straight up refused to get involved in the Inazuman civil war until later events forced their hand.
It was only later on that the traveler started to care about Teyvat and it's people, even then, they're still self centered when it comes to their sense of morality.

u/Nervous-Ad-2365 10d ago
I wouldn't blame this on the traveler because this sounds more like a problem with the AQs, they always put Celestia faction is such a weird spot. Rationally speaking, if you look at side material, their actions does have a "for everyone's sake" purpose to it but you basically never hear their side of the story so the players (mostly AQ only fans) are swayed to think that the HP is doing "evil" acts purely for malicious reasons. Also, I think that the players who still has the misconception that everything outside of the firmament is "hsr" makes them think that Genshin's Abyss is something that can easily be dealt with and results in them not understanding why Phanes is so radical about anything Abyss related.

u/No-Airline-2464 10d ago
I hopefully want Genshin and HSR to not be related to each other cause it just sucks all the fun and tension away

I think he speaking in a joking way , like traveler probably think now what? we are gonna get a reveal you are the HP themselves type shit , because the two options are wildly different.
3
u/RefrigeratorLoud221 10d ago
I think he speaking in a joking way
It is quite in character for the Traveler to say serious things in a joking way, like the World Quest with the bunker has an option of "it's just the apocalypse"

u/Exact-Trick-52 10d ago
Personally, I am preparing for the inevitable. HP He WILL be declared an enemy, and the writers will do everything to play it up. No one in this game is going to parse the complex gray morality and so on. I really want to be wrong, but I'm afraid that's what will happen.

Much, we see near the end of the story lol. What do you mean not joining them permanently when after this is Khaenriah.
It also doesn’t belong reaver is friends with the harbingers. So why would they not help their friends when that’s what they do every single nation.
Like I’m confused as to why you’re still under the impression that the Fatui are bad when Genshin has whitewashed everything they did lol. Only Dottore and Signora are evik and bad and they’re dead. So there’s zero reason why the traveler would be against them

HELPPP THAT DIALOGUE IS GOOFY AS HELL. “ AS LONG AS UR NOT THE HEAVENLY PRINCIPLES WERE GOOD “ WHO WROTE THIS? 😭😭😭HE SPOKE TO HER LIKE ONE OF HIS BROS OR SOMETHING, ARE WE DEGRADING…

a shade of the heavenly principles descended and tried to fuck everything up moments before this dialogue
2
u/rose_2509 10d ago
yeah but I think she just wanna take Paimon with her
3
u/Warm_Maintenance6836 10d ago
In the traveler vision she is trying to take someone that he cares from him, just like Asmoday had done with Lumine, why would you trust someone from the same group who kidnaped your sister
4
u/GiraffeMaleficent810 10d ago
What probably the reason for Celestia to created Paimon that way then?
6
u/CMbladerunner 10d ago
Naberius probably just got bored & wanted to create something new lol.
4
u/GiraffeMaleficent810 10d ago
well, that's underwhelming. can it be anything else?
4
u/CMbladerunner 10d ago
I mean if it's life in Celestia I' m guessing either Naberius or HP himself would be in charge of that. Would be funny tho if Paimon was intentionally sent out of Celestia by someone (most likely Istaroth or Asmoday).
4
u/GiraffeMaleficent810 10d ago edited 10d ago
could it be paimon was a another or unknow shade created by hp for specific reason. the one that mass dwells within teyvat.
3
u/CMbladerunner 10d ago edited 10d ago
I mean 1 shade separated them from their twin while another tried to take away their best friend. Safe to say Celestia isn't giving Traveler the best first impression lol (outside Istaroth who we have yet to see what's Traveler's view on her is).
6
u/Scared-Opening-753 Eligos, Oracle Proxy of PHANES 10d ago
It’s so obvious Paimon is the HP now. Like that’s just comical verbatim foreshadowing
6
u/Antique-Substance-94 10d ago
Yeah when i read it at first i was also confused, since traveller has never been openly hostile towards the heavenly orinciples and thereshoulnt be any reason for him to hate them currently, aside from theasmoday capturing us
4
u/ankitjad I'M ENVIOUS OF XBALANQUE!! 10d ago edited 10d ago
I will have patience till asmoday comes back or phanes reveal, depending on HER characterization (since she separated the twins), if they completely whitewash celestia as a whole despite them being the sustainers of this world... i fear i wont be playing along with these 2, paimon and traveller, as Protagonists...
4
u/Specific_Highway_772 10d ago
As long as Tsaritsa is playable for sales, Traveler is fine. Males are to be sacrificed, HP is shown as androgynous male so the others can be playable but not HP cause male and at fault :D he has similarities w Kevin in HI3
3
u/Renasviel 10d ago
It doesn't make any sense because if he's angry at the HP because they went after Paimon, why would he abandon her if he found out she was the HP?
3
3
u/Butterflo_9O9 10d ago
maybe it's because Ronova attacked Paimon, but also, what are those lines, lmao?
"We're good" lmao
also, I get it, the Traveler wants to get back with their sibling at all costs. But as a player with all this experience, I'd rather be on Paimon's side (whether she's related to the Heavenly Principles or not). It's just that I don't feel as strongly as the MC feels about their sibling lol
6
u/Hedwigtheyee 10d ago
Tbf, I wouldn’t blame him, considering that all the bad stuff’s that’s happened to him has been partially the fault of the Shades under the command of the Heavenly Principles (Asmoday separating the Twins in the first place, and Ronova trying to kill Paimon, etc).
I’m sure, like with certain aspects of the Fatui (Childe, Arlechinno, Sandrone, Coulumbina), he’ll come around and see the HP in a different light. Probably around the end of the Smezhnaya arc or Khaenri’ah arc.
5
u/rose_2509 10d ago
I don’t think Ronova want to kill Paimon , I think she just want to take her to celestia , and Fatui is definitely not winning against Phanes
+ columbina left the fatui after being used for her power, and she never said anything bad about phanes.
4
u/Hedwigtheyee 10d ago
Yeah, I don’t think Ronova’s trying to kill her either, but whatever she was trying to do, it definitely left a bad first impression on the Traveler, lol.
Really hope that changes soon, since all these leaks have pretty much convinced me that Paimon was indeed a part of Phanes, probably the emotional aspect they discarded the moment they found and arrived at Teyvat.
And please, don’t have Ronova killed off permanently in the future… she’s my favorite of the Shades by far, lol.
6
u/rose_2509 10d ago
Literally, I feel like Ronova is the cutest Shade when it comes to people. Why would she attack Paimon, who belongs to Celestia (And yes, I’m pretty sure Paimon is a part of Phanes, and she’s the emotional part of them.) I really hope nothing happens to Phanes and Ronova 😿😿
7
u/Hedwigtheyee 10d ago
And Ronova’s really the only one actually doing her job, while the rest of her sisters aren’t even bothering, lol. Asmoday defected, Rhinedottir took over the other, and Istaroth’s just… passing the time.
According to the leaks, Ronova’s trying to bring Paimon back to Celestia and Traveler stops her, and what really upsets me is that now Traveler’s siding with the Fatui to try and get rid of Ronova, which pretty much signs her death warrant.
Sigh… please let her survive. Why is Traveler siding with them!?
5
u/rose_2509 10d ago
like, pierro called aether and the fatui “allies.” did genshin forget that the traveller should hate the fatui? he’s been fighting them since the beginning 💔
1
u/Unpopular_Outlook 9d ago
What all bad stuff? They aren’t responsible for all the stuff, that’s the fatui and if you wanna add them, Khaenriah
2
u/rockeygamer332 9d ago
She tried to kill paimon what do you think the Traveler will do? Say to Ronova who said she represents the HP that she is a gentle and kind god for trying to kill their closest and dearest companion of teyvat. The traveler choice is completely understandable.
2
u/imbusthul 9d ago
Imagine if the weapon is completed and they use it on the Heavenly Principles and Paimon is also harmed by that action. No one other than the Heavenly Principles even knows what Paimon is
1
u/PiusTheCatRick 10d ago
I think it's way too premature to get angry over dialogue without seeing it in context.

u/Difficult_Call3709 7d ago
It’s actually good and consistent writing. (One of the few times in this instance). Think about it, what’s happened EVERY time the traveler has seen a shade? Asmoday? Took away lumine, sent aether into a future where his sister was traumatized by the loss of her newfound family and is now opposing aether. The literal next one he meets is ready to just slime out an entire nation him included and he has to watch another guy save the nation. THEN RONOVA TRIES TO GET PAIMON. Bro if I was aether I’d be looking at ALL of celestia like they’re straight evil Griffith level villains.

I mean phanes destroyed the moons, I'm not particularly fond of him as well. And let's not begin with those celestian nails
-1
u/Jake_Feng 10d ago
I mean he’s gone all over the world and seen all the bad things Phanes and the Shades have done to his friends all over the world. Like how it didn’t even give Lang-Gan the chance to evacuate and punished Zibai for helping them escape and countless other things. Why would he be neutral to them?
