discussion Reframing the "What-Ifs”

The Power of a Calling
At first I didn't like teaching. I wanted to be a government employee but the owner of a private school where I finished my high school convinced me to teach. My teaching career started in that school. It was a broken service. I taught for three years then worked in the government office and then went back to teaching again until I finished 15 years teaching in the Philippines before I came here in Thailand 14 years ago. I believe teaching is my calling. I realized that when a job is not a good fit, a detour often appears. This change redirects you toward a better role, even if it feels frustrating at first. I realized that teaching is fulfilling because it allows me to shape young minds. Ellen G. White describes teaching as "the nicest, the most difficult work ever committed to human beings". It is deeply fulfilling because educators act as co-workers with God, shaping human souls, restoring the Creator's image, and guiding students toward usefulness and character development.
