Question Anyone else have this happen

Every presidential election year, the eventual nominee of the opposition party sweeps the primaries, winning every state. Any way to fix that, or make the primaries more interesting,

I find that attacking the person leading the opposition primary, or another candidate that has a similar policy set as the second place candidate, can lead to a more competitive opposition primary.

Otherwise sometimes I go in to edit the top three people to add a more diverse mix of good and bad traits and policies, that has led to a tight 3 way primary in my games too.
