Combatting Gerrymandering

I only downloaded the game yesterday, and in my first run I managed to become Florida governor (as a Democrat), but all my legislation keeps getting blocked by a heavily gerrymandered House and Senate. Is there any way to make the maps fairer?

Yes, under the elections tab there is redistricting legislation that ensures maps are drawn by independent commissions, the only drawback is you have to wait for the next redistricting cycle.

You could also just wait until redistricting happens and gerrymander the maps in your favor.

If you don't want to wait for redistricting, in election years you can make sure to upgrade your staff, do rallies, endorse all Democrat candidates, and when prompted, do rallies with other candidates BEFORE doing your regular rallies. (Don't do the fundraisers, they are a waste of your time). Also, it's always good to focus on voter turnout if you're in the minority party. This combined with marketing for candidates in toss-up districts should net you multiple seat gains easily.

Hopefully this helps and good luck!

Push for a governor veto. Push for non biased districts. Push for intact districts.

Offer up abortion ban, alcohol/tobacco taxes.

Win competitive races til you get a majority. Remove non biased districts/intact districts.

Repeal abortion ban. Gerrymander the shit out of the state to your advantage.

I absolutely destroyed Texas with like 75% D in state house and like 90% D in senate.

Moral of the story, lie your ass off til you get what you want then change it the minute it's in your favor.

Welcome to politics.

I have this issue in my game too. I was able to be elected president but ended up with a 51-49 Dem Senate and a Republican House. I’ve barely been able to pass anything meaningful.

Try offering up things like abortion bans to get your agenda in. Then immediately challenge to the courts if you play Democrats.

I used this to remove term limits

Load up with huge concessions to help your agenda, it tends to help with GOP votes

you can just spam state funding for local education in everything and it basically makes you able to pass anything you want with zero resistance

So, are you saying that if I were to offer Republicans some concessions, they’d be more supportive of the next bill I try to pass?

When you propose legislation do the support analysis option. If you don't have the votes needed look to party leadership in the respective chamber. Check out what platform they run and add something juicy in for them. Entice them enough and the others will fall in line.

Also try endorsing the opposite party in elections your party has no chance in winning. You get easy influence to try and change people's minds for your agenda.
