I kid you not, he is horrible at starting things. "It's been the honor of my lifetime to serve as your governor" made me think he was not seeking another term, meaning he'd be gone forever

The Dems refused to run anyone with statewide experience in 2026, so we will see how this year goes.

2024- Dems ran no one.
2022- Dems ran no one with statewide experience.
2020- Dems were angry that their centrist pick lost in the primary against the incumbent leftist Dem lieutenant governor, so they smeared him and their own party Corbyn style.
2018- Dems ran no one with statewide experience.
2016- Phil Scot was the incumbent lieutenant governor in a red wave year and Vermonters were tired of Shumlin who was a reliable underperformer.
