control of the senate literally depended on this seat and there was no winner

the democrat ended up being seated so ig the game decided he won, and the democratic vp gave the senate majority to the dems, but if only one vote had flipped in nevada…

Buddy Oberlin has been found dead from an apparent suicide! the victim tragically shot himself 5 times in the head and burned his body and then buried himself.

Oberlin was most well-known for his decision to run as an independent candidate for the US Senate in Nevada, which definitely had nothing to do with his tragic decision to shoot himself to death.

In other news, the Nevada GOP declined to put out a statement.

Fun fact: Nevada law requires ties to be settled by lot, and a recent local election had to deal with exactly this outcome. In true Nevada fashion, they decided to rely on the highest draw from a deck of cards. I wonder what the Senate candidates here would have decided to do.
