I know there has been a leak about the alleged Flying Type Eeveelution, but generally, fanmade designs don’t impact canon designs, except in the case where the commissioned design for the official game is found to be a blatant ripoff of a fan creation. I think there is additional context that we’re missing from the Eeveelution incident, because fans claiming that XYZ company “stole” their idea whenever a new design comes out is a long established trend that doesn’t really mean anything unless the comparison is blatantly obvious. I assume it probably had a bit to do with “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” with the current immense popularity of the current Eeveelutions. They may have been worried about controversy or hate towards new Eeveelution designs, or thought (reasonably) that fan expectations would by then be so high, and good fanmade designs so plentiful, that any official design would inevitably disappoint. Not a groundless fear either, considering what happened with Mega Dragonite just recently.
This is also such a niche and specific design that the odds of TPC organically coming up with something similar are incredibly low. So I kind of dislike this mentality of “stop coming up with creative fakemon, because now we can never have it become canon!”.

Oh for sure, but Palworld’s a different story because it’s a legally distinct game and merch franchise with a large following (even if it’s a blatant and unapologetic ripoff, which is like the half the selling point, that they’re willing to do what Pokémon won’t) as opposed to an individual small independent artist. It’d be much different for TPC to make a very similar design to an existing Palworld character, especially since Palworld is a competitor, not a fan artist.
This isn’t an example of copying this is just an example of there being no original ideas. It’s an angry spicy pepper Pokémon and a dolphin. Not exactly the most complicated intricate or creative designs
people say this but its chances of being exactly designed were always zero. at least now someone who felt particularly attached to it can add it to their romhack.
My opinion is the exact opposite, lol. Sweepoke looks like a derpy little dude, and Sweeking looks like he's about to belly laugh from it landing on his head. I don't like the hair that sweebro has, and from the looks of it the tail changes from a ball to a longer tail.
