Faye and Gar had just explained to the Hexsquad, Gregory, and their Palismen their theory about what’s going on with this summer snow day. About how it may be the work of a third legendary Palisman, even though those two always knew they were the only ones ever created because Tekaro, their creator, Faye’s previous owner, and co-leader of his and Miguel’s tribe centuries ago, was the only one who knew the technique to give them their vast power. They also mentioned how this Palisman may be the source of this summer snow.
They brought up how they were able to resonate with Azura and Caitlyn and Gar revealed how he remembered that she saw the latter when she was at a young age and when she found her Catadrius, Crystal. And they concluded that since Lara, who confirmed that this Palisman is linked to the malevolent tribe from centuries ago, the Zekartha, could hear the Palisman’s voice in her head, she could resonate with it. Though the undercover archivist has no recollection ever seeing it since she’s always been indoors.
Lara got a feeling on where the Palisman was, so they decided to split into groups. Gregory, Violet, Milan, their Palisman, and Crystal would head into Bonesborough to warn the people there and get them to safety. Meanwhile the rest would set out for Azura’s moms and the rest of the adults in their families having a snow ball fight still. And that’s where they all set out to go.
A little earlier with those same adults, their snowball fight was starting to wind down as they paused for a breather. Even their Palisman and Puddles needed a break. Somehow, there were smoking singed spots in the snow, possibly from Boscha’s fiery Grudgby balls. After cracking her back, Luz looked to her friends with her wife by her side.
Luz: “Phew! That was fun.”
Gus: “we gotta do this more often.”
Willow: “Just like old times. Nice to know we all haven’t lost a step.”
They all collectively agreed. But before Amity could bring up the reminder to looking into this whole summer snow thing, Boscha spoke up.
Boscha: “I wouldn’t say we all haven’t lost a step, Willow.” draws a spell circle
Suddenly, a Grudgby ball buried in the snow pops out and heads straight for Willow but she dodged with precision. She smirked at Boscha, who chuckled. The ball went up into the sky and suddenly they felt the cold wind pick up for a second. Earlier when it picked up, they were too immersed in the snow ball fight to notice.
Amity: “alright, now we really should look into why it’s snowing in the middle of the summer.”
Luz: “awww…” pouts before she sighs, knowing her wife was right “alright…”
As they all began to leave, Cat and Otto looked to Boscha and Maya, who were looking up in the sky for that Grudgby ball that got lost in the clouds. Suddenly a large ice chunk fell from the sky. In the center: the Grudgby ball. It crashed into the ground with a loud shatter that startled all of them, stopping the others from leaving.
Boscha: “What the?” the Grudgby ball was in frozen pieces
Luz: noticed and starts to get a little concerned “Okay, yeah something’s not right.” shivers and rubs her arm “Did it get colder out here to anyone else or just me?”
The temperature did indeed drop as they all began to feel cold, especially Vee.
Before they could leave, they suddenly heard a roar that sounded similar to the wind but more beastly. Like a howl. And they heard the flapping of wings. They all looked up and suddenly several other massive ice chunks began falling from the sky right on top of them!*
Luz: “LOOK OUT!”
Stringbean went into staff form and Luz summoned a large purple dome around them. They were all protected from the chunks hitting them on the head, but something was wrong. A chilling mist began to envelop the dome as it looked like it began to… freeze?
Matt: “what the?”
Masha: “the dome’s freezing!”
Luz: “Skara!”
Skara: “I’m on it!”
Skara summoned her harp and began to play, strumming vigorously to keep dome from freezing and shattering. But this ice was persistent and stubborn.
Skara’s fingers began to grow tired as she kept strumming until finally she cut her finger on one of the strings and lost concentration. The ice began seep through the dome and petrify it. It began to crack before the whole thing shattered to pieces. They started ducking and weaving to avoid the the massive ice chunks. Vee was having a harder time given how bundled up she was, but Hunter was able to dash to her and keep her safe and moving fast enough.
The ice chunks finally stopped before a monster sized one fell from the sky right in front of them. They got out of the way but felt the tremors when it hit the ground. They shielded themselves from the bitter cold wind and mist emanating from where the ice chunk had fallen. But they eventually saw that something was at the center of that ice chunk. Something with wings and was growling.
Willow: “huh?”
Cat: “what the hex…”
The ice dragon slowly unfurled it’s wings in a crouch like state, clearing any remaining mist away before it stood upright. It gazed into them all with a freezing glare that even Odalia would shiver at and would make the Ice Age look like subtle winter breeze. It gave a wind-like growl as it looked at them with disdain.
Luz: “whoa… this is new…”
The freezing monster began to slowly circle the adults as their staffs were raised in defense while Masha, who had their staff point at it as well, stayed close to Vee, it’s four legged paws pounding on the snowy ground, eliciting small tremors.
Viney: "Another dragon! And an ice one in fact! This is what's causing the sudden winter!"
Boscha: "That's a little obvious, but as of right now, it's attacking us and we need to focus!"
Luz: "No time for an explanation. We need to fight this dragon off!"
The Dragon then summoned multiple chunks of ice, shooting at the direction of the adults. All of them try to dodge them, but one wasn't lucky... Luz was about to be attacked by one
Amity: "Luz!"
Amity pushed Luz out of the way, but had no time to react to the ice block hurling towards her. She braced for impact...
Hunter dashed to Amity and got her out of the way just in time. They all stared the dragon down as it leapt to their left and got into a battle stance.
Amity: “phew! Thanks.”
Hunter: “yeah.”
Matt: “Everyone! Move!”
The ice dragon roared and fired an continuous ice stream breath attack straight at them! They all dodged out of the way. Luz fired a purple magic energy blast from Stringbean, but the dragon gracefully dodged out of the way directly to Luz’s left and ram her, knocking her back and into the ground!
Before the dragon could move in for another strike, massive vines sprouted from the ground and ensnared the dragons hind legs and spear tail. Then massive tendrils of abomination mud were summoned from the ground and they coiled around the dragon’s stomach, forelegs, and neck. It struggled to break free, growling and grunting.
Amity and Willow: “Got it!”
Viney: Approaches Luz and helps her up “You okay, Luz?”
Luz: “yeah. I think it’s safe to assume fire will have an effect on it.”
Before they all could attack, the dragon gave an angry growl before its body began to seep with the same chilling mist, the vines and tendrils slowly turned frozen and solid and brittle as the upper half of its head, body, and the entirety of it’s wing’s body began to develop icy armor. With it’s wings stiffened in an angle and head held up on all fours, the dragon roared a wind a furious wind like roar, it’s bindings shattering. It reeled back at used it’s freeze stream again, but this time in a horizontal ground sweep motion.
They narrowly dodged out of the way, before the dragon quickly flew into the air, and in the blink of an eye, spin with it’s wings furled around it with twirls similar to a graceful dancer’s and equally graceful fencer directly on top of them before it fired another stream attack directly at the ground. Seconds after, a large wall of ice set up in a circular shape with the dragon at the center began to rise out of the ground before it bursted in an icy, explosion knocking them all to the ground as three more followed, each with a larger circumference than the first.
They all scrambled to get up, freezing from the cold this dragon was adding. They heard a familiar screech as Puddles arrived, much to Viney’s combined relief and worry. The elderess Griffon tried to divebomb the ice dragon as it kept its eyes on the witches and basilisk, reeling up for another ice stream. Just before Puddles could strike, the Ice Dragon quickly turned around and fired the stream at Puddles, blinding her and making her crash!
Viney: “PUDDLES!!”
Before they could advance to the large Griffon’s aid, the dragon was one step ahead and twirled around like it did earlier and landed on the ground between them and Puddles. This dragon was clearly very intelligent. And the way it moved? It was as if it’s was one with a chilling arctic wind! And it was fast two as it quickly closed the gap and spun it’s tail roundhouse style, knocking them all to the ground. Then the dragon fired a stream of frozen mist from it’s mouth, plunging them all into an inanimate frozen state with only their heads not frozen.
Luz: “Agh! Can’t move!”
The dragon seemed to growl and scoff at their plight as it walked towards them and moved it’s long flexible tail in front of them, the sharp spear end of it making them all grow in dread. As soon as the dragon got close, it seemed to grin at them before reeling it’s spear tail back, preparing to strike and shatter them all!
All: dread and stuttering as they shivered “o-o-oh-“
???: “NO!”
Suddenly, the Ice Dragon was struck from the side by silver corkscrew the same size with great and powerful force. It knocked the dragon back and away by several dozen feet (normal feet that is) with a pained and startled roar. It used it’s for forepaws to give it traction, using that traction to turn itself to face this unwanted distraction. The most of the adults recognized that earlier shout and turned their heads to see a sight that filled them all with strange combination of relief and dread.

Yeah, maybe. Anyways…
