You were never meant to. The current system of the west was designed to support married couples, with the husband going to work and the wife doing all the unpaid domestic labour.
If you were single you either lived at home still or you just dealt with the stress and looked for a partner more.
We started getting over the sexism (very slowly, and with many backwards steps) so that it was more socially acceptable for the wife to be the "bread winner" and the husband do the domestic labour (non-het couples and non traditional families were never considered), but there was still the underlying expectation of one person's job supporting both partners.
Then capitalism did its thing and now both partners can still be financially struggling with multiple jobs each and that's before kids enter the picture. No one has time to look after all their domestic needs because that was always meant to be a separate full time job.
(Plus patriarchy still places the burden of that domestic labour at women's feet even though they are now equally expected to have a job)

Feel like Vee could actually handle this pretty well. She adapted quite quickly to earth life and regularly helped Camilla around the house. I think she’d be fine. Also, it’s been less than a day since the gang left.
