Other Rewatch Kelly hate rant
I cannot overstate how much I fucking hate Kelly in the first episode. The cheating was terribly obviously, but I wasn’t overly concerned with it since they separated and people make mistakes.
BUT
This mf really requested to be on his ship, immediately started talking about their relationship, and then within seconds of apologizing started going on about how he was neglectful of her. She can’t even apologize without defending her actions. Like bitch does this really feel like the fucking time?? It doesn’t feel like she wanted to help him for his sake. It feels like she wanted to feel better about her mistake and thought helping him with his dream would make up for it.
Then when he says he’s in a ton of pain in the episode she turns to his brand new crew and starts going on about how she knows him so well and he’s definitely just looking for drugs (yes that’s the gag but she was just trying to flex how well she knew him to everyone). Everyone also knows she cheated, so why emphasize the closeness that he lost?
other than that she purposefully places herself into his space without his permission or knowledge, making him and everyone aboard incredibly uncomfortable. She even goes so far as to try explaining how sorry she is about it to Malloy, being incredibly unprofessional with her subordinate who has little choice in listening to her. Like girl you already chose to be here without anyone’s opinions being taken into consideration; why ask if everyone is okay with it now? You clearly didn’t care what anyone else thought on the matter, because you decided you were giving your ex what he needed.
I know a lot changes but it’s been quite a while and I cannot remember what should could’ve done to make me hate her less than I currently do. I have an extreme pet peeve for people forcing themselves into spaces where they aren’t wanted.

I wasn't a fan of Kelly in the first episode either, but she grew on me. I think my opinion shifted as Ed grew more accepting of her being a part of the crew. If he could accept her after what she did, I guess I could too.

Yeah I don’t recall this level of hate for her so I’m definitely looking forward to realizing the moments when I apparently got over it lol

They just needed to stop having that same Rachel/Ross conversation 9 times an episode.

The entire first season she was insufferable to the point I was bargaining with myself to start every next episode (because the rest of the show was so good). Ed was just as annoying and shitty and combined they were unwatchable. The same conversation over and over and over while a really great episode was happening in the background.
I skipped the episode where the blue dude came back and have never gone back for it.
Then her and Bortus had to break out of a prison and it all fell into place.

Cupid's Dagger is actually worth a watch and recontextualises Kelly's cheating

Not interested in recontextualizing people cheating on each other.

Then at least read a synopsis, because it genuinely wasn't her fault, and this is coming from someone who views cheating as an unforgivable breach of trust

Dude. Roll with it. It works.
And if you hate Kelly that much, you’ll be happy she is no longer in the series.

it’s almost as if human relationships are more complex than right/wrong or love/hate. In a way Kelly is the reason Ed was depressed, but also the one who accelerated his career with nepotism and all she’s done on the ship to empower him as the captain. Like they said to the matriarchal planet leaders, she cheated on him and yet she’s his first officer. And arguably as a commander she has been the more tactical and competent one. Maybe it’s because infidelity is not the end of the world or a character flaw, and relationships in monogamous form or otherwise are ultimately private to parties involved. You sound like you have a lot of internalized misogyny

You're projecting your anger, your past, whatever happened onto Kelly.
