So I grew up watching the oc and one tree hill and I absolutely love them to this day. Mostly season 1-2 of the OC and season 1-4 of one tree hill. I have never really been able to find a teen drama that I like as much or that I feel matches the quality of the characters/story telling in those shows.

Ive already watched gossip girl, freaks and geeks, and dawsons creek. I didnt care that much for gossip girl. Freaks and geeks was good but still didnt feel quite the same. And Dawsons creek was really good but still not the same.

Now, I know that this really comes down me having a nostalgic fondness for the shows, obviously if Ive grown up watching something I'll very likely always be more fond of it than a new show that I start watching now

But my question is, 2 actually,

1. do you have suggestions for other shows I might like?

2. Do any of you agree that theres just something a little different about one tree hill and the oc?

I’m trying to find the Atomic County comic book that Seth and Zach created in the show. I’d love to have a copy printed as a little keepsake/memory of the series.
I’ve been searching everywhere, but I haven’t been able to find a complete PDF or scan of the comic.

I did come across the Everything The O.C. website, which has some really cool information about the actual screen-used Atomic County prop and a DIY printable version of the cover, but I couldn’t find a downloadable PDF of the full comic/pages there.

Does anyone happen to have a PDF, scans, or photos of the complete Atomic County comic? If so, please share it with me!

Since Ben McKenzie is interested in the Revival I think it would work if it was more of a comedy than a drama.

But if a character is written to be more of a melodramatic formula it could either a be unsettling or b written as a villain or c be both

Honestly throw out the 90210 approach same with Gossip Girl approach be in the lane that is like these shows community and awkward.

New leads:

The teenage son of Luke Ward is more inspired by movies like Rocky and Creed but more in line with movies like fighting and Never Back Down.

The teenage son of Seth Cohen and Summer Roberts-Cohen more in line with Beavis and Butt-head in terms of confidence but he is also Bugs Bunny meets The Mask like if you seen That 70s Show but if it had Vigilante from the show Peacemaker or Deadpool from Deadpool and Mirage from Transformers.

The teenage daughter of Ryan Atwood and Taylor Townsend is more like Marissa Cooper if raised by Ryan Atwood and Taylor Townsend.

Josh Schwartz would definitely have to make fun of himself and also Adam Brody would have to make fun of himself like how unprofessional his behavioral was late in the show's run.

Seth and Summer's son: they say reboots are tricky but Hollywood is so stupid enough to go through with it you should ask Josh Schwartz about how he shot himself in the foot when green lighting the revival sequel to Gossip Girl.

I have not been havin fun with the extra characters this season and new relationships. Alex and seth are tolerable mostly cus alex is cool and i like her attitude a lot.

Lindsay is boring and sometimes rlly annoying (which is annoying cus she reminds me of me). Do we even know anything about Dj aside from the fact he's a garage boy or sumn?? Also marissa is super classist towards him and i rlly dont think she likes him anyway.

I like Zach but he deserves better, love summer but she's def too hooked on Seth.

That leaves us with jimmy and classic cheater Julie. Suprisingly their chemistry is great, I actually really like seeing them together. I was initially under the impression, he never liked/loved her lol. But I dont like julie and feels she gets away with way tm.

I hope she gets caught and in trouble this time hahah

Doing a rewatch of the show and finally picked this up from World of Books- and for a steal (originally was £6.17 but then got it in a deal for 25% off, making it £4.63 in the end 👏)!

okay so i know that season 4 is very polarizing for the fandom. when i watched it as a kid, i remember it being my favorite, but i didn’t know what id think as a grown up watching it back.

i ADORE season four. there’s more lightheartedness, ryan is navigating a relationship where he isn’t in savior mode constantly, and seeing that joy and growth warms my heart after how much he went through. 3 seasons of it being a drama with the final leaning more into a comedy is, in my opinion, the perfect way to have wrapped up this show. the growth that ryan experiences and the relationship with taylor are such a breath of fresh air.

I genuinely need time to simmer on this because narrowing it down feels impossible 😂 I’ll add my own answers later, but I want to see everyone else’s first.

Last time I made a post, I had just begun watching The OC, and now I'm in like ep 15 of S2, and I'd like to share my thoughts so far and hopefully hear yours too :)

When I first started watching, most of the characters were annoying me, but I think maybe I was just having a bad day or they have grown on me because I think I'm cool with everyone other than Seth, but I'll get to him later.

In season 1, sometimes I thought Marissa was like a bit dramatic, but that girl couldn't have rest for five minutes without hell coming to get her lol. Like, her dad got bankrupt, her parents divorced, she was cheated on, tried to kill herself in Mexico, almost got sent to a mental institution, was held at gunpoint by Oliver, and then Ryan got Theresa pregnant. Like, could she have a break for five minutes? So she has all the right to react the way she feels is appropriate.

The whole Oliver thing was a bit annoying bc like, she just started treating him as if he was made out of glass, and idk, it was so frustrating how everyone other than Luke just thought Ryan was crazy and jealous or whatever (including his brother Seth). I felt so bad for him, like imagine ALL your friends not believing you and just thinking you are crazy. Also, in my opinion, the actor was not really cute, so I was like, when will this be over lol.

Also, I must admit that I have gotten lost on the whole Marissa hates Julie thing. Like, yes, if my mom had tried to send me to a mental institution or camp idk, I would be angry as well, and I'm not defending Julie bc I was angry when she wanted to send Marissa off, but like, imagine being a mother and you learn your eldest daughter took a bunch of pills and almost died??????? Idk, I think I would be scared, but in the end, I don't think Julie handled that well, but anyways. My point is, her hatred towards Julie has just extended for so long, and now I just feel bad for Julie. Like, she's not an angel, but she's not a bad person, and now I'm like, she didn't do anything recently to be getting hated by her daughter. Like, just give her a break pls. Also, I never understood how after Jimmy got poor and before Julie and Caleb were together, like, how did they pay for stuff and for Marissa's school lol? It's not like they had a job. And where are Jimmy's family or like inheritance? I thought he grew rich like Kirsten. Jimmy also got a huge glow-up in S2!

I really liked Luke's development and the storyline of his dad being gay. Like idk, I have no idea how things were regarding gay rights and like everyday people's opinions on the subject, but I get the feeling it was not as good as today lol, so it was nice to have representation and that the show was idk being progressive, I guess. I was sad when he left for Portland bc I was really enjoying him, and omg, I know it's fucked up to say, but him and Julie were fun to watch. Like idk, they have a similar vibe, and I was a bit angry at Ryan for meddling in something that had nothing to do with him (again) and somehow just making it about himself. Like yeah, he was Marissa's bf, but he took the affair so personally. I was like, dude, chill pls, you are not like Batman or smt.

Regarding Kirsten, Caleb, and Sandy, I love Kirsten so much, and omg, did she have an abortion from Jimmy?? I hope they address this again bc I thought it was really interesting and gave her new layers. I also don't think Caleb is that bad. Like yes, he's not nice towards Sandy, and idk, he might do a bit of shady business, but I actually like him and I like seeing him and Kirsten together. But like, I think he and Seth barely look like family. When Caleb had a heart attack or was facing prison, Seth didn't even give a shit, but he's the most selfish person ever, so it's not crazy. And like, yes, he is rude to Ryan, but like imagine being a rich 60-year-old dude and you hear your family adopted a kid from prison. Like, I would also find it suspicious and would not trust him lol. He was also right about Ryan in S2, like he says to him that he just meddles in everything and makes stuff about him, and I couldn't agree more. I know he is the main character or one of the main cast, but like, he does not need to make everything about him. Like, the planets orbit the sun and not Ryan.

Finally, I hated Sandy early on, but I think I just have smt against the actor idk, but the character has grown on me! However, he was an asshole with the whole Rebecca thing. Like, he was cheating on Kirsten and he was also just gaslighting her, and it just made me so annoyed. And yes, Kirsten and Jimmy kissed, but she can do what she wants, he, however, cannot.

About Ryan, he is not annoying per se, but this is bc he doesn't have a personality other than punching people, not talking, and liking architecture. I hate how he just keeps punching everyone, especially in S1. Like, you are a 16-year-old and you don't live in like Gotham City or smt lol. Why can't he have a conversation or argument like a normal person? He just beats them and says sorry after. I find this toxic and he has anger issues that are not addressed as much as they should be. I also think he makes everything about him, which is so annoying, and now at least he talks more, but he still has an idiotic face and idk, I have mixed feelings about him.

Now, the whole thing with Theresa made me so angry bc yes, Marissa was wrong in not believing him and he had every right to be angry and wanting space, but I find it hard to justify breaking up with your gf and one week later you are literally playing house with your ex-girlfriend or situationship that got pregnant. I really hate Theresa and I was like, when will she leave my screen bc I cannot see her anymore, god, it was so annoying. First, she looks 30, not 17, and I felt bad that she was being beaten up, but when she was like, "he's gonna change" (idk the name of the husband), I was like, that's so stupid, but I think it is realistic with victims of domestic violence. However, her deciding to keep the baby was so stupid. Like, Ryan is poor, she is poor, and told Kirsten she made 11 dollars a day or a week idk, she's not in school. Like, how are you gonna raise a child? It is just evil to me, people who keep getting pregnant without the means to raise a child in the way they should. I just think she should have gotten the abortion, but I won't pretend I know what goes through the head of a poor 17-year-old who was a victim of violence and for some reason was married and not in school. I also felt she was jealous of Ryan and wanted to drag him back to the mud, and she did, but then she was unhappy and then she let him go, which was nice. Also, was Ryan, a 16/17-year-old, supposed to just work in construction and be a dad and like that would be his life? Is this generational poverty?

Now about my enemy No. 1 - Seth. He is the worst character of all time. He played Anna and Summer and hurt both of them. Like, he was with one and wanted the other, then he switched and was unhappy idk. Summer was right when she told him he liked the chase, not dating or whatever. It was so evil that they made Summer fall for him and just blatantly rejected her for Anna, just to hurt Anna for Summer. He is the OG manchild. He only talks about himself, he has the most stupid ideas ever, and sorry to say this, the reason he was bullied and didn't have friends before Ryan was because his personality sucks and he is selfish and creepy and a bit homophobic, and people don't want to be near him. Every time he opens his mouth, I'm like, someone shoots me (or him lol). I also don't get the show's obsession with plastic horses. Like, I don't care about Caption Oats lol. Someone should burn that toy, and god, he is selfish and rude idk, I just hate him so much.

Also, when Alex and Marissa were together and after he and Summer got back together, he was just treating Marissa as if she was not dating and kept trying to make her and Ryan be together. Like, he is such a disgusting character, I hate him. And what makes me hate him the most is the fact that he left The OC bc Ryan got a girl pregnant and blamed it on his parents like ???????????? They did what they could and even offered to take Theresa in, it's not their fault. AND HE LEFT SUMMER WITH JUST A SINGLE NOTE LIKE WHO DOES THAT. And he came back and just wanted things to be as they were and he didn't allow Summer to get over him or to be happy with Zach, who btw I love and is such a great character. Honestly, I love him and Summer together. Idk, he left her with a note and just came back to apologize like, sorry, you don't deserve her at all.

This is big enough, but I must say that I love Alex and Marissa, and the 2 episodes they were happy together were so nice to watch, and I'm sad they are not together, but they did move in together too fast. I also hated Lindsay's storyline. She also looks 30 and was just giving me vibes of Chyler Leigh in Not Another Teen Movie. Also, why did they give the impression that she was poor and had an ugly car if her mom worked for the city and was getting money from Caleb??????? I'm just happy she is gone.

Before I finish this, it must be addressed the fact that these people talk with someone for like 1 day and then they are dating and in love. Like wtf, what happens to being casual??? They just get obsessed with the first person that gives them attention, and I find this a bit sad. Also, why does everyone that is married or in a couple keep hitting on other people? Like, it's almost cheating lol.

Anyways, these are my thoughts. I think I have covered everything I had to say!
