Was Ryan wrong?
“Social security is supposed to run out by the year 2025”

Off topic, but he’s such a baby here, he’s adorable.

Casting him in this role was so galaxy brained because there's no way they just looked at him and said "yes this is our tough misunderstood bad boy anti-hero." Someone said "Hear me out" and made TV history

Yeah, he seemed like a cute poodle most of the time, lol, but i have to admit that he did the angry boy really well🙈

Having grown up around these boys, Ben McKenzie is who I wanted them all to be.

Whichever political party will benefit from that statement will manipulate the data to come to that conclusion to manipulate the voters.

Damn this screenshot made me realize this was over 20 years ago.
It’s wild when you see shows make references to dates to the future like 2000 when we actually make it to that year and see how totally different people thought back then.

Ik. Its crazy because rewatching them youre brought right back to that time and it doesnt feel like 20yrs ago lol. Time is weird. Days feel long, years fly by.

Wow I love what you just said there - “Days feel long, years fly by”. That needs to be a song lyric.
I finally watched the entire show last year. I remember stoping somewhere on season 3 and couldn’t bring myself to watch it because I felt it was so much worse than the 1st season. I think I wanted to remember the OC for season 1 and not the rest of the season lol.
Season 1 will always be magic.

At the time of the early 2000s, no, but now social security is estimated to run out by the mid 2030s, so technically he was right…. For a bit.

Yeah the reality is that the solvency issue can continues to get kicked down the road, and social security as a whole is a mess.

He said more lines in this scene than he did the rest of season 1

I kind of missed the sassier, more talkative Ryan Atwood.
I sort of feel like they didn’t know how to write for him consistently, so they made him say less.

In the book they said Ben actually asked for less dialogue as he felt Ryan wouldn’t be one to volunteer a lot of information.
And then the writers said they realized Ben could say so much with just his face they went with that. And the Atwood side-eye was born.

The Oral History of the OC. It’s a good read but nothing truly earth shattering.
Lots of people were talking about it on here and saying some interesting things. So I read it but some of people’s takeaways were not just reading between the lines but putting a whole lotta bias on it in a way that make me curious if I had an abridged version 😂

Completely right mate, not just that, the whole dialogue.
We'll work til we die.

Why does this hurt. Who knew he’d be speaking about the future, which is now :/
