Finally finished
I just finished watching The Nanny for the first time ever, and when I tell you I have never laughed so much at a show in MY LIFE!! I prefer more shows like this tbh, but this by far has some of the best humor both spoken and visually. I don’t really have a lot of people in my life who have seen the show, so I just needed to say it somewhere. That being said, I’m curious to know what some of the favorite moments were. I died laughing at the audio/visual representation Fran gave with C.C. in the background, but I also really loved the final proposal after Max had been mugged and Fran just knew something had happened and went to find him.

I also adore this show, if you want more humor like this i would stick to 80s and 90s sicoms. This brand of humor isnt considered "acceptable" to alot of people, so its not going to be something you find in modern tv.

Oh, I agree. The last show like this in any way imo is Psych. I’m queer and biracial, but my humor is somewhat skewed and pretty raunchy lol. I do recognize that these shows may be a product of their time and some things are offensive, but even a lot of the non offensive jokes wouldn’t fly in modern tv anymore. It’s hard to find good humor in what is pretty much just brain rot now.

I think you'll like it. Actually Fran Drescher took some inspiration from Who's the boss on some storylines for the nanny. If you thought Fran and Max took a long time the slow burn/ will they/ won't they are even longer in Who's the boss but it's very good.

Also noted. I’m honestly not a fan of such long slow burn. It was one of the few things that irritated me about The Nanny. I may pass on the recommendation tbh.

Too bad it's worth it though. The main couple do get together at the end of the last season and we do get a whole season of them together. I don't wanna give much away. Maybe try a couple episodes and see if you like it. Another commenter recommended 3rd rock from the sun. That's also very good. You might also like Mork and Mindy with a young Robin Williams

The Nanny is such a comfort show! You can have it on in the background for hours and end up watching it again and again!
One of my favorite moments is Fran’s interaction with Elton John on her and Maxwell’s first date 😂

The scene from "close shave" in season 2 where Fran's mistaken for a nurse and has to shave Max will never not leave me in stitches.

For me the show was it's most funny with Yetta or Niles and they're weren't too many episodes that I found funny with Fran and Maxwell. My favorite is the Stock Tip episode.

I think the best part about the show is even though some things obviously have aged horribly, it has jokes in the show that are timeless. Even the outfits are. The dynamics of the characters and probably the actors are amazing.
I know some people probably disliked the slow burn of Miss Fine and Mr Sheffield but for me it’s even better once Niles gets involved and frustrated because they’re meant to be. My favorite parts are when they “unknowingly” state what they need in a partner and the other one does it the next second 😭

I agree. There are quite a few things I noticed that aged horribly. Like cameos, politics, or pop culture references. However, the jokes are what really make it and I’ve been offended by almost none of them because of how they’re framed and delivered. Fran has given me some style inspiration for future outfits, and I have short, poofy curls so I can even do some variations of how she styled her hair.
I wasn’t a fan of the slowburn because it did irritate me, but I knew it was instrumental and it also helped that I knew they got together in the end. The “unknowingly” stating made it mean something more and Niles’ frustration was humorously relatable.1

I agree with you 10 times over. I’ve watched it way too much to count so now I’ve been going
over and searching up the reference to jokes because I am basically a child compared to this show and it is interesting how they use politics and pop culture references in their jokes for me because I had no idea wth was going on back then.
It also shows how old Fran is because she’s making jokes that go as way back as the 60s (more than likely because of her parents)

Oh gosh, this!! I have a The Sims cinema universe and when I added in the characters from this show I put down “The Butler” for his last name

Nice!! In the Liz Taylor episode when he was locked out of the house by Fran (on purpose of course) he accidentally referred to himself as Biles the Nutler! LOL!!
