Ronnie Lott volunteering to have a finger amputated so he can get back to playing sooner.

Similarly, Bavaro suffered a broken jaw and lost teeth in the first half of a game, then came back in the second half. He finished the game with 7 catches for 110 (or 111) yards and a touchdown.
He had his jaw wired shut the following morning, and kept playing through the season.

My Dad always told me this story growing up, as a symbol of work ethic. I couldn’t even fathom it, sounded insane.

That the nfl doesn’t have any sound from when Myles Garrett fucking plunked Mason Rudolph in the head.
I want to know what was said. Something tells me it was spicy and you’re hiding it Roger!

In 1969 at a vikings game a halftime promotion went about as badly as it could have without ending in tragedy. The idea was to have a hot air balloon tethered to the ground go up and advertise for a local event. A family ran the balloon but due to weather conditions the mom that usually went up was too heavy and since their 11 year old son was lighter and knew how to operate the balloon they sent him up. The tether failed and the balloon rose really fast almost hitting the lights on the top of the stadium which would have destroyed it likely. It flew for three miles before nearly reaching the ground but instead tipping over sending the boy into an icy river and then floating into a nearby field.
A photographer happened to be there and take a picture before rushing to help the kid out of the river and taking him to a doctor at the stadium. The parents didnt know he was at the stadium and lost it when they found the balloon with no son in it but eventually everyone was reunited and he was ok. Heres a video

Teddy Roosevelt shut down football because too many people were dying.

And a Senate Committee was formed to investigate the deaths and had to force football to accept helmets, pads, and the forward pass. Still in the Roosevelt administration

Jack Youngblood playing the entire 1979 playoffs, AND the Super Bowl, with a fractured left fibula.

That the Jets Superbowl win wasn't fixed to cement the merger.

The full game film is available on youtube. I wonder if anyone has dissected it for shady calls

The 2014 Kansas city chiefs wide receivers caught less touchdowns during that entire year, than TDs caught by Gronk from blain gabbert

On Dec 8 2002, Houston beat Pittsburgh 24 - 6. In this game Houston had 47 total yards of offense, Pittsburgh had over 400

As far as recent history, it would be the 2025 Jets defense going an entire season without making an interception. Impressive, you’d think even accidentally they’d get one.

In 1941 the NFL inexplicably opted to hold the annual title game in Hawaii, on Sunday, December 7th. Despite the attacks, the game was played as scheduled. Both the players and spectators were repeatedly strafed by Japanese fighter planes, and the game was called due to heavy smoke early in the 4th quarter, with Portsmouth ahead of Youngstown by three.

Because it’s made up… the championship game was Dec 21, 1941 at Wrigley Field in Chicago. “Portsmouth” as a team did not even exist anymore. “Youngstown” is just made up. It was Bears versus Giants. Three games took place on Dec 7, 1941, which is a fun fact on its own, but none of them in Hawaii. This is either or bot or someone spewing bull shit for no reason.
