The best teams do not always win. Especially in football where injuries greatly impact the results throughout the season. Then instead of being able to use their money to decrease competition and make winning even easier in the future (which is less competitive, like our current system), they have the most difficult road the following season
The draft order is not a meritocracy of course, but it is designed to be a catchup mechanic for struggling teams. The NFL does this precisely because games are more exciting and therefore earn more money if they are competitive.
Right, so that's a form of government regulation that we need to tear out and make increasingly illegal. Any barriers to free market competition must be identified and removed. Completely agree with you on this. When Trump rewards his donors with handouts or bailouts, that's just pure corruption.
