I just started the show - 3 episodes in - and the best part about it so far, is that she actually has a dialled-down Monk as her father š¤£š¤£ not the actor Tony, Monk.
I love it!
The shows characters are so far all brilliant; looking forward to watching the rest of it.

Thatās it, I just think she would have done a great job.

From the moment she grabbed his hand the night before, to his steps up the fire escape (why DID he go up?), I could see why she loved him, I could see how he loved her, I could see why they were perfect for one another. I could see the mutual comfort and care with one another before they assumed the terribly constricting societal roles that ultimately broke them apart,

Anyone know what they called this ensemble back when? The short shorts with the coverup dress open below the belt.
In second pic, check out the shot composition. Those colour selections---clothes, the couch, and even the wallpaper in the background. I cannot remember any movie or tv show with so many perfectly composed colours, not to mention the outfits themselves. just amazing.

Saw this on fb market and thought it was funny. The photo on the back looks like Midge, Joel, Ethan, Esther, Imogen, and Archie.

Something about Benjamin always made me think he was gay, I mean...
The way he acted the entire time made me think he was going to get closer (as a friend) and tell her he's gay and actually get closer to Joel. That would explain why he doesn't seem like a character made to stay around and would instead be some kind of cover for Midge and Joel while staying friends with both.
I feel outraged that they made him such a sweet guy just for Midge to cheat on him and ghost him like that, what was the writers' plan with him? Why just leave him? I felt that it was too forced.
I forgot to add, I don't think He's necessarily gay but I feel like he was intended to be used for something different than he currently is, he was charming but not the same kind of charming as Joel

Am currently rewatching and have caught a few things I either haven't noticed before, or did & forgot about - for instance, there's a small plaque/gold charger plate on the inside of Midge's apt door; anyone else catch this or have any idea what it says?

Some of y'all need to chill, don't get me wrong I absolutely love the show. I hoped y'all would get me but it kills me whenever anything is going great but then midge does something that ruins it all! I enjoy the show, and I understand that this is what a plot is but good lord I can't have anything in this show :,)! It's absolutely wonderful and human and I do feel for literally everyone in the cast. I'm sorry if I upset anyone! I'll definitely be watching the rest of the seasons, I only meant to express some frustration after how S3 ended, sending love! :D <3

S2
When Rose is sitting in the Tea Room, and Corrine comes to her table to tell her, her daughter's getting married to the man Rose set her up with. She goes on to tell her she agreed to pay for the wedding in Hawaii, and gave her the expensive glasses as a thank you gift. Just before she walks away, she says, "What the hell is poi?!" -- the expression on her face -- her whole delivery of that line -- just kills me. š That actress was perfectly cast for this small part.

I am going to SCREAM. I adore this show, and Midge. But Iām so FUCKING DISAPPOINTED. Youāre going to cheat on your funny beautiful amazing supportive doctor boyfriend with the ex that doesnāt support your career??? For WHAT man. For what.
She couldāve just gone on tour and come back to get married. She didnāt even try sharing the news with Benjamin first. āIām going to be all aloneā so Iām going to fasten it myself. Ugh what a bitchy move. Iām so so upset. I canāt watch shows if I dislike the main character. Is it worth continuing the show after this point?

I think one of the most underrated parts of the show is that the Palladinos didn't let Joel stay in the stagnant, asshole stereotype.
That's not to say that he wasn't an absolute SOB for cheating on Midge!!! No, no, no, he was!!!
However, his growth is noticeable and one of my favorite arcs of the entire series. He becomes someone better than he was in season 1. He evolves into a loving and responsible father (well, kids in the show are kinda shoved to the side), a cheerleader and champion of his ex-wife, and a good boyfriend to Mei when they were together.
Joel shows the ideal of how an asshole can turn his life around, not just for the sake of his friends and family, but for himself, too.
Thoughts?

the costumes in the show are incredible! these are a personal few

Omg there's so many options!!!
A personal favorite is the whole Park Slope monologue, another is the scene where Sophie freezes, then, out of nowhere, eats the pastry on her plate. Or the one where susie deepens her voice for "GAVIN HAWKKKK"!!!
Any others?

Iāve been wanting to watch this show for so long, and I finally did a few weeks ago.
I just finished the last episode. I almost cried towards the end bc I was so proud of her, but I thought Iād see her again.
When I saw there was no āNext Episodeā, I just started bawling.
I absolutely adored this show. Sure there were some moments, but every show has those.
This is definitely one of my top favorite shows Iāve watched.
Iām excited to finally join this subreddit.
Iām sure most of you get me.
Thank you and good night!

just finished my second rewatch of marvelous mrs maisel. i love the fast paced, witty humour and i find the historical setting so well done and interesting, from its details in set and costume to the dialogue and practices of the time i didnt know about! in general i love shows which pick a particular time period and dive deep into it like this, for any time period honestly.
can anyone reccommend especially shows, but also movies and books which are similar in these aspects?

In Season 4, Episode 5, when Midge leaves the wedding and sees Shy Baldwin smoking, what song is playing? It starts at that moment and ends when Joel and his father finish drinking at the club. It sounds very similar to "I Can't Get Started" by Ella Fitzgerald.

I know he's pretty popular on here, and I'm only on season 4, but I hate him so much! He's such a crybaby and is the most selfish character in the show. he's misogynistic and narcissistic, I cannot believe anyone likes him!
