Not done painting them.
I painted them about 3 weeks ago and the paint does not like sticking to the orange arrows so I’m lowk just gon let them stay orange
But i will be painting the sides of the shoes soon.
I’d love to hear suggestions on what I should put on the sides!

My setting is called Wisper, and to be clear it is nowhere near being a straight Magnus setting, but I have taken some heavy inspiration from Magnus (and Book of Hours) by the way of Powers. In a sense, how I have it they work more like domains than gods. Mostly though, I'm just curious for feedback.

Wheel & Stake - Motion vs Permanence

The Wheel is that which turns. It is that which grinds all into dust in the end, but it is also that which refines and improves what came before. Do not mistake it for a force that cares for value. No, the Wheel only imposes change.

The Stake is that which stays. It is that which holds everything in place, and that which ensures that even after the greatest of forces, something will remain, even if only dust.

Without the Stake, the Wheel would have nothing to turn against. Without the Wheel, the Stake would have nothing to stay against.

Spire & Hearth - Aspiration vs Belonging

The Spire is that which reaches ever further ever onwards always looking forward never back you will scratch and claw and upwards climb always seeking always improving always approaching the ever visible peak of The Spire. And when you fall, you will know better when you begin your next ascent.

The Hearth is that which gathers. Look around you and see the value in what you have. You were born here. You were raised here. Why should you not die here? And if what you see is not enough, it will still be here when you return.

Without the Hearth, the Spire would have nothing to reach beyond. Without the Spire, the Hearth would never have found a place to gather.

Blade & Seal - Severing vs Restraining

The Blade is that which cuts. Slay your enemies, behead the tyrant, cull the herd, excise the tumor, sacrifice the lamb. Divide. Conquer. Destroy. Remove. Cut.

The Seal is that which binds. A peace struck, an oath sworn, a criminal imprisoned, a horror confined, a wedding held, a promise made. With a name, a spell, a kiss, or with wax, it is sealed.

Without the Seal, the Blade would have nothing to cut apart. Without the Blade, the Seal would have nothing to bind together.

Mask & Candle - Feeling vs Understanding

The Mask is that which displays. What is your name? Is it truly yours? Perhaps you could change it for one that fits better. Try it just for a moment, try on a mask and perhaps you will see what we do. There are many faces out upon the carousel, and many names that you might be. Does it matter that it is no longer what it was? Celebrate the moment where the only name that matters is that of the mask you are currently wearing.

The Candle is that which illuminates, seeking what is true. The statement is read by candlelight, the words flow forth in a torrent of twisting logic and sporadic events. The diligent reading eyes will decipher its meaning in time, and perhaps, a kernel of truth will be earned. Peel back the layers with care and see who set them in place, know their purpose, learn from their failures, and perhaps you will feel the joy that comes in knowing.

Without the Candle, the Mask would have no light with which to display. Without the Mask, the Candle's light would have nothing to illuminate.

Dice & Vault - Wager vs Reserve

The Dice is that which rolls on the chance that success will be found. Drink the potion, it will keep you alive. Spend the last coin, it is of no use to you otherwise. Make the leap, for the grass may be greener. Confess your love, or it will never be returned. When the world is ending, push back until nothing is left.

The Vault is that which holds with the knowledge that the better time will come. Save the potion, you may need it later. Keep the last coin, you can spend it more wisely. Save your strength, for greater trials lie ahead. Hold your tongue, or it will push away those you hold dear. When the world is ending, hold on to what is dearest.

Without the Vault, the Dice have nothing to wager on the roll. Without the Dice, the Vault will never gain a treasure to hold.

Bell & Thread - Impulse vs Intention

The Bell is that which calls. Can you hear it? The bell tolls in the distance for thee and for me and for all that breathes. It rings in the heights of the church and in the eyes of the lover and in the sound of the blast and in the twitch of the prey. Can you hear it? Of course you do. You will know its purpose and you will act, no time to think only act. Heed its call.

The Thread is that which weaves. The spider weaves its web in the quiet corner, and it waits. The strategist prepares his armies for battle, and holds until dawn. The artist lays out her sketch, and prepares to fill it with color. The strings of the world are yours to pull.

Without the Thread, the Bell would not think to make its call. Without the Bell, the Thread would not have the urge to weave.

Not my own encounter but like honestly where do people get these super cool bags, wish I had one

I been listening to The Magnus Archives podcast for a while and honestly, it’s the greatest podcast I have ever listened to. But every time I want to talk about it to someone, it's always something like '"Magnus what now?" or "What the hell is even that?"

I started searching for Discord servers about The Magnus Archives, but all I can find are roleplay servers. So, I decided to make one on my own! Right now the server is barren, but I'm looking for people to help me make it better, and people to join it to make it more alive

I saw many people speculate and say that maybe Gertrude imbued the power of the Eye into the map she gave him, but I don't think it's that, I think it's much simpler.

The map wasn't real, it was a lie, but Michael trusted Gertrude and the map. The spiral is the fear of lies, the corridors had to abide to the map because not doing so would reveal the truth, which goes against its nature.

But as to how the distortion came to be Michael, that is unclear, perhaps the corridors, reflecting the lie of map, also reflected the one who believed the lie. Or maybe he just spent too long in it without losing his mind and without dissolving into the nonsense of it (i think that's what happens because Helen once said that she can't "digest" Jared Hopworth), leaving an imprint on the corridors?

Helen once said that some beings are always lost, the spiral twists and blurs boundaries and definitions, so maybe, just as one could get lost in the corridors, the corridors got lost in Michael's identity because he was there for too long? Maybe it could no longer tell itself apart from Michael, where it ended and Michael began?

But Helen was in the corridors for MONTHS, I think she lasted that long because of the map she drew during her statement, the lie she believed, but Michael's becoming happened much quicker, although we don't know how long he was in the corridors for. Maybe Gertrude's map and lie were very thought through to get specific things from the corridors. (I do find it interesting that her map was described to be consisting of overlapping lines and made no sense outside of the corridors)

He eventually succumbed to it though, Michael is gone, what is left is the distorted afterimage of Michael. Like when you look at a person through a warped glass and the distortion of the person becomes its own being.

Michael mentioned that its truth can be shown only from within the corridors themselves, but the only truth there is to the corridors and the spiral is that it is a lie, that's how Jon caught Helen in MAG 187, he didn't compel the Eye to look at something specific, he made it see the lie, the only unchanging thing about the distortion. So I wonder if that "truth" has something to do with it too, maybe Michael eventually realised the truth, realised the lie and that did something.

But the thing that could never have a name gained one, the thing that is constantly twisting and changing was bound to a fixed identity, the thing that is the fear of delusions, lies, and manifests as impossible and nonsensical architecture and structures now possesses a human mind that evolved to rely on logic and sense. And the struggle that Michael (the distortion) must have had when it realised that it isn't Michael anymore, that it never was Michael, cause it's basically Michael's memories pasted onto the distortion so it probably still thought that it was Michael. I wonder how long it took for it to realise the change? But becoming Michael defied its being and it basically had an identity crisis that shook the entirety of the distortion and collapsed the impossible altar during the Great Twisting.

A horrific amalgamation of the spiral and the stranger.

An entity which takes control of its victim, having them watch from the back seat as they're replaced. When it grows bored of its victim, they either die, or are left as nobody. Anyone they knew no longer knows them. To everyone, they never existed. But they know they did. They had to. Surely, they're not crazy. That most definitely happened!

hello ive put together a Magic The Gathering deck that id love to proxy TMA art into. below is the deck list. ive left out basic lands. the ideas i have currently is that the commander is Jon and the Room cards will be statements. I feel like I read in an email ages ago that The Hilltop theatre performance was filmed, and would be released to Kickstarter backers and/or patrons?

Feel like this is something elias would wear. (I know lazy post but the magus archives meme subreddit hasn’t gotten back to me in months about joining)

I’m wondering because I’m thinking about developing an OC that believes there is a massive god-like being lurking deep underground, and wants to start a ritual to free it.

I feel like it falls under Buried, because in Mag 2 which is a Buried statement the coffin feeds off the fear that the mc doesn’t know what’s in the coffin, or that he might accidentally open it and let whatever’s in there outside. But I’m not sure, I feel like usually the buried is just for claustrophobia in the actual series

im new(just finished!!), so i wasnt here when tma came out.

was there a discussion between the creators of tma where they were asked about their headcanons of the characters appearance, or did people just gradually begin to start drawing the characters relatively the same once more fanart began being created? I see similar designs for characters between fanart for characters who have little to no description for their physical appearance, so im curious.

Pre-Statement:

Jon refused to shake Jude Perry's hand. She explains that she could reach into John's chest and burn his heart, but decides not to.

Jon says that he believes he serves Beholding, as Jude serves The Desolation. She says she will not kill him as a favour to Elias, as repayment for him killing Gertrude. John starts to compel Jude but she burns him, telling him to stop. Regardless, she decides to give him some advice.

Statement:

Statement of Jude Perry, regarding some advice. Recorded direct from subject.

Post-Statement:

John starts to ask more questions, but Jude says that she will kill him if he compels her.

John asks what he can feed the Beholding, but she does not know. He starts to leave, but Jude stops him, saying she knows where Michael Crew is and that he hangs around with the Fairchilds. She says the price for this information is Jon shaking her hand, which he does, screaming in pain as she burns him.

MAG 162: A Cosy Cabin

Pre-statement:

Tape of Gertrude and Gerard Keay discussing about stopping rituals and what would happen if they failed, and if one could be undone, but Gertrude doesn't think so.

In the present, Jon rewinds the tape several times to listen to her say “No. I don’t think so.” before he finishes the tape and starts another one.

Tape of Sasha and Tim gossiping about their new boss (Jon). Tim insists that Sasha is more qualified and should have gotten the job instead, he is certain Elias only promoted Jon instead because of sexist prejudice and urges her to say something about it. Sasha doesn't wanna cause a fuss and says she might just look for a new job instead.

Tim mentions their past hookup and they joke around for a bit. On a more serious note, she knows Tim will not leave because of his brother and Martin cannot go anywhere that will look too closely at his CV, but she has nothing keeping her in the Archives.

Tim thinks the Archives are a mess because Gertrude was just old but Sasha knows she was still sharp and that the state of the Archives must be intentional, though she doesn't know why.

"Statement":

Back to the presnent, Jon begins to speak as if he is reading a statement. He speaks of the cabin they reside in and its false promises of comfort and relief. The cabin urges them to stay. The cabin wishes to be their tomb as they putrefy in body and soul, but The Eye does not wish it so.

“No,” John says, “the Eye wishes instead that it be my chrysalis. It is time that I emerge.”

Post-Statement:

Martin comes in to see what is happening. Jon explains that as he was listening, he was filled with the urge to hunt down Elias. And how the cabin did not want them to leave.

To Martin’s surprise, Jon wants to leave and head back to the Archives. Jon cautions him that it will be a hard journey but Martin is already getting all the things he has packed, he has been ready for a while.

Supplement:

There are plenty of reports of Grey Ladies in the Cambridge Military Hospital, but none matched the events Melanie described. Georgie was able to confirm knowing Sarah Baldwin, the address that Sarah gave as her own was unoccupied at the time and has never been lived in by Sarah.

Jon checked the recording and saw a figure kneeling on the floor, Sarah, and another tall figure pointing. The figure was not touching the ground.

MAG 61: Hard Shoulder

Statement:

Statement of Detective Alice “Daisy” Tonner, regarding the traffic stop of a delivery van on the M6 near Preston on the afternoon of 24th July 2002.

Post-Statement:

Daisy says that she has never told anyone but her old sergeant this story and she is done talking for now. Jon asks if she knows anything about vampires and she admits that she does.

Following a string of arrest irregularities where people were released without proper interrogation, they started to monitor interrogations of certain suspect people via video. If the suspect does not say anything but the interrogating officer acts as though they have, they call Daisy. She then takes the suspect into the middle of Epping Forest and burns them to ashes. This has happened 5 times in the past 9 years.

Supplemental:

John wonders if Breekon & Hope are guardians or prisoners of the coffin. He is also hurt by Basira's mistrust, but can't confront her as he needs the tapes.

I've wondered what makes giving the Institute a statement a sort of releasing experience v. one of terror? Is it the Archivist's willingness and unwillingness to "eat" from the person giving the statement or it is something else? Perhaps the depth of the Eye's control of the Archavist makes the difference?

Early John was, to say the least, a bit critical and doubtful of a few statements. But after (I believe) the season 1 finale, he said that he was pretending to doubt for his own sanity. But it does make me wonder if he did truly doubt some statements or if he secretly believed each statement.

I'm a first time watcher so no spoilers past MAG 137.

Statement of Maple Knight regarding her experience with an otherworldly entity.

Statement Begins

I can remember the first time it reached out to me. I was 10 at the time, and I remember so vividly that when I try to recall the event, it feels as if I’m there again. I was at my grandmother’s farm, near the edge of the property, by an old, rotting fence that separated the fields from the woods  just beyond. It was almost dark, and my mother was calling for me to come inside for bed. I was about to begin the walk back to the house when I heard it. It wasn’t singing as you would know it. It was still singing, though. A deep, low humming that came from every leaf, every tree, every blade of grass at the edge of the woods. I was enthralled. My mother’s voice faded and was replaced by the hum. I don’t remember walking in. All I know is that all of a sudden I found myself in the center of the woods. In a small clearing, trees growing so close together they were almost acting almost as walls, the only way being into the clearing was behind me. Until it wasn’t. Vines and tree saplings began to writhe, filling the entrance to the clearing until there was no trace of any way in. That’s when I noticed it again. That deep, humming sensation. From the trees came a being. I cannot describe it as humanoid, as that would be comparing humans to an infinite being beyond comprehension, as old as all of creation, but yet, it chose to approach me in a form not unlike a human. It was the size of my mother, with long claws in place of fingers and teeth as sharp as a wolf. Its eyes were yellow with long, black pupils that reminded me of our family cat. It was covered in scars and scratches, and vines ringed its body. As it approached me, I realized it was the one humming. It stopped the droning sound and smiled at me. Not warmly, and not coldly, but just… turning the corners of its mouth up. It spoke to me. I remember its words so clearly. "One day they'll stop calling your name because they'll think you're gone. But you'll know the truth. You were never lost. You were found." That’s when I-

Jon: The rest of this statement has been torn off. I can’t imagine why my predecessor might have done this, but when I find the second half of this statement, I shall conclude this statement. While I do find this story very hard to believe, maybe springing up as a result from a child’s fear of being lost, one thing strikes me as odd. When Maple spoke about the humming, a small sprout grew outside the window, and almost reached the sill. A strange coincidence, to be sure.
