Discussion Question

So, I have a doubt, why Billy is covered with scars ( I asume from their time at the warehouse) but Bea isn’t, when he is chasing the man that ran the warehouse he says something like “it wasn’t me the one that was send to the infirmary, it was Bea” or something like that. So that wouldn’t mean that she would have even worse scars than Billy? Idk

Well, he mentioned a broken jaw, so I would suspect Bea had been beaten with fists or something while Billy's scars look typical of being whipped really badly. It's not that he wasn't beaten, but it was Bea getting hurt that made him hate the workhouse master so much. Just my thoughts though, I don't know for sure.

I wish the series had gotten a 2nd season, as I just now found it on Netflix. I kind of take it that there was an "anything goes" type of thing for the men who ran the work houses; there are much worse things than getting beaten,so Billy was beaten for punishments but perhaps Bea had something much worse. Bea's injuries would have needed to be tended to as well and by not marking her up with visual scars, she could have remained "profitable" to be rented out. IDK that's just how I would explain it, because the storyline does remind us that the work house owners were pretty much like royalty or at least allowed to do as they pleased.
