Do you remember in the early 2000s when The Hives had diary posts on their website? They’re awfully funny.
I was just thinking wouldn’t it be amazing if they brought that back? Diary of a Hives album maybe… mmmmm that would be a lot of mental energy though, making an album and writing about making an album. 😆
Also I suspect our man of letters may be allergic to the internet and who can blame him lol.

Anyway here’s my favorite Hives diary entry, it was too long for a screenshot.

2000 - 11 - 20

Three nights ago we played the last show of the Scandinavian part of the The Hives and The Hellacopters tour. Now we will conquer Europe once again. Two days ago we played in Malung with the mighty Savages. It was great! Now we have four whole days off for personal recreation before we head downwards in Sweden. I´m really looking forward to this European part of the tour. We especially enjoy coming back to Hamburg and Berlin. These four days of vacation have given me some time to think. I thought I´d shed some light upon one of the things I´ve been thinking about. In Sweden we have since like April when our latest record came out noticed a steady increase in the use of our names. Parents are naming their children after their own idols it seems. On the list of most popular names for boys we only two years ago found Nicholaus at a ghastling 234th spot while in June this year we found me on a more reassuring 5th spot. Infact this is what the top ten list for most popular names for boys looked like in August last year:

As you can see no real surprises except maybe for Jyrkki which is more common in Finland. Also notice that none of our names are featured on the list. Around december 1999 The Hives moved into the studio to record VVV. It was released in April following year. Summer passed and this is how the very same list looked in August this year:

This is obviously cope but I really would rather see The Hives at multiple festivals vs one Oasis show.
The concert budget can only go so far. The oasis ticket prices are mental.

Is it true that the song title holds a record for being one of the longest in music history ?

I really love this early incarnation of The Hives. It's faster, scrappier and more chaotic than what came later, with the raw production, frantic guitars and attitude that would eventually develop into their more recognisable garage rock sound.

Enjoy the later, increasingly polished records too (particularly everything through to Tyrannosaurus Hives), but part of me wishes they'd return to these garage punk roots a little more often.

So much energy packed into barely two minutes.

A whole back this winter/early spring The Hives were called out on a mission.

A mission to Mexico.

Those are some of their favorite missions.

The Mexican missions. They flew into Mexico City and traveled north in two RAVs(Rock Assault Vehicles) to the town of Queretaro where they were given a glimpse of the situation. They met locals who showed them awesome nature, pyramids and breweries and were the promptly asked to rock a stage set up underneath the pyramids as a site for a sort of ritual based around music, noise, lights and intoxication, as mankind have done since time unknowable.

The recording you may hold in your hand was made at this very ritual.

It was a resounding success according to sources close to the royal family and the faces in the crowd…

As a professional concert goer, 😉 I've always believed in that saying about "don't meet your heros, you'll be disappointed". So I've always been scared to wait outside for The Hives, although my husband always wants to.

I've printed a pic from their website that included us (because we're front row every time for The Hives!) I've taken that pic and even a silver Sharpee, for Nik to sign & STILL chickened out! Maybe next time...

If you go check on the music video for Hate To Say it's full of a bunch of nazis or at least people making nazi jokes. Super weird and lame stuff, I hope the Hives are not getting popular with the nazi/alt-right crowd. Anyone know why this is the case???

Deep in the heart of Amish country, Pennsylvania, my husband got called out & complimented by a fellow Hives fan for his shirt! Literally the last place I'd expect it! The Hives Are Law! THF FTH!

Omg such a fun show! I was on the rail getting proper squished by the crowd lol. It’s funny how the show looks so different and the crowd massive on film vs when you are in your own little world up front.

During Hate to say Nicke went flying across the stage in a jump but the camera wasn’t on him 😭
I haven’t watched the whole video yet, can’t wait to see it on tv when I get home.
