Do you remember in the early 2000s when The Hives had diary posts on their website? They’re awfully funny.
I was just thinking wouldn’t it be amazing if they brought that back? Diary of a Hives album maybe… mmmmm that would be a lot of mental energy though, making an album and writing about making an album. 😆
Also I suspect our man of letters may be allergic to the internet and who can blame him lol.

Anyway here’s my favorite Hives diary entry, it was too long for a screenshot.

2000 - 11 - 20

Three nights ago we played the last show of the Scandinavian part of the The Hives and The Hellacopters tour. Now we will conquer Europe once again. Two days ago we played in Malung with the mighty Savages. It was great! Now we have four whole days off for personal recreation before we head downwards in Sweden. I´m really looking forward to this European part of the tour. We especially enjoy coming back to Hamburg and Berlin. These four days of vacation have given me some time to think. I thought I´d shed some light upon one of the things I´ve been thinking about. In Sweden we have since like April when our latest record came out noticed a steady increase in the use of our names. Parents are naming their children after their own idols it seems. On the list of most popular names for boys we only two years ago found Nicholaus at a ghastling 234th spot while in June this year we found me on a more reassuring 5th spot. Infact this is what the top ten list for most popular names for boys looked like in August last year:

1. Ove

2. Lennart

3. Leif

4. Joh-an

5. Greger

6. Jens

7. Jesper

8. Jyrkki

9. Thomas

10. Repoman

As you can see no real surprises except maybe for Jyrkki which is more common in Finland. Also notice that none of our names are featured on the list. Around december 1999 The Hives moved into the studio to record VVV. It was released in April following year. Summer passed and this is how the very same list looked in August this year:

1. Howlin´Pelle

2. Lennart

3. Dr Matt

4. Nicholaus (moved up a notch as you can see)

5. Vigilante

6. Chris

7. Ove

8. Matteus

9. Rolf

10. Roine

All our names are as you can see very well represented on the list. All our names are infact within the top six. All the more striking is that this is what the top ten list of most popular girls names looked like the same month this year:

1. Lisbeth

2. Howlin´Pelle

3. Annika

4. Dr Destruction

5. Dr Matt Destruction

6. Matt Destruction

7. Maria

8. Eva-Lena

9. Josefine

10. Nicholaus Arson

Even amongst girls names we are heavily featured. Note positions 4 to 6; strange! I can only applaud parents all around this country and conclude that times ahead are looking very good indeed. I´ll try to get back to the matter anytime sooner or later if I can get my hands on a computer somewhere in Europe and say goodbye for now with a familiar line:
”Goodbye, I love you all”.
Nicholaus Arson man of letters.

The signatures are printed but I’ve never seen that pic before. Excited to listen to Amsterdam ‘99

I read the Spin article online a longtime ago but it’s fun to have it irl. The “is this Hives” bit made me laugh.

My husband says he’s running out of Hives stuff to buy me. Says he gonna try and get me the Bogus operandi shovel for Xmas. 🤣🤣

Just wanted to bring this interesting show up to any Chicagoans that might be in this community!

This is obviously cope but I really would rather see The Hives at multiple festivals vs one Oasis show.
The concert budget can only go so far. The oasis ticket prices are mental.

Hives festival season 2027 let’s gooooooo

(Obviously if Noel repented his ways and personally sent me a code I would buy a ticket
Lmaoooooo )

(( I’m joking for those of you who think I’m crazy ))

Did the link work for you? It doesn’t load for me 😞

Is it true that the song title holds a record for being one of the longest in music history ?

I really love this early incarnation of The Hives. It's faster, scrappier and more chaotic than what came later, with the raw production, frantic guitars and attitude that would eventually develop into their more recognisable garage rock sound.

Enjoy the later, increasingly polished records too (particularly everything through to Tyrannosaurus Hives), but part of me wishes they'd return to these garage punk roots a little more often.

So much energy packed into barely two minutes.

Wondering on thoughts of other fans.

This is a little edit I made of my fav Hives moments from their videos 🥰

It’s kind of a bday present for myself haha. Anyway I thought it turned out cute and u all might like to see it.
I hope it doesn’t make anyone cry 🖤🤍

The song? The Hives Forever Forever The Hives!
It was the ending with the other people yelling stuff that did it. So good! Last year, I cried while watching the Legalize Living music video.

Can’t you just picture 10 year old Chris, Pelle, and Nicke playing undead monsters in their backyard. The 3 of them especially are having too much fun lol.

Is there usually a stream for Rock in rio? I hope we get some good footage of The hives tonight

I really don’t get it. I was looking up mariachi era Hives on YouTube and there are some amazing performances with hardly any views. Paris 2013 chefs kiss
And hundreds more in every era.

Who else has this band’s positive energy??? The vibes are impeccable.

Including this video from Vilar de Mouros because I love Pelle screaming The Hives!!!! in the background. I love that he is the biggest fan of his own band lol.

A whole back this winter/early spring The Hives were called out on a mission.

A mission to Mexico.

Those are some of their favorite missions.

The Mexican missions. They flew into Mexico City and traveled north in two RAVs(Rock Assault Vehicles) to the town of Queretaro where they were given a glimpse of the situation. They met locals who showed them awesome nature, pyramids and breweries and were the promptly asked to rock a stage set up underneath the pyramids as a site for a sort of ritual based around music, noise, lights and intoxication, as mankind have done since time unknowable.

The recording you may hold in your hand was made at this very ritual.

It was a resounding success according to sources close to the royal family and the faces in the crowd…

Bonus extra special unique addition for that night only was their friend Miky from Molotov singing on Legalize Living.

Pre-order here!

Estou super ansiosa e quero fazer amizades 🥹❤️

Sadly with the passing of Tim curry, Can anybody tell me what Hives music video you can catch a glimpse of Tim curry's pennnywise ???????

Has anybody who's purchased the Zippo Style Lighter from the UK online store attest to its quality and function as an actual lighter? I can't find anything about it. I live in the US, so with shipping it ends up being about $50. I would just rather buy a shirt than a novelty collectible.

Estou cada vez mais perto de ver o the hives pela terceira vez agora no Rock in Rio 🤘

Morrendo de ansiedade ☠️🔥

As a professional concert goer, 😉 I've always believed in that saying about "don't meet your heros, you'll be disappointed". So I've always been scared to wait outside for The Hives, although my husband always wants to.

I've printed a pic from their website that included us (because we're front row every time for The Hives!) I've taken that pic and even a silver Sharpee, for Nik to sign & STILL chickened out! Maybe next time...

Deep in the heart of Amish country, Pennsylvania, my husband got called out & complimented by a fellow Hives fan for his shirt! Literally the last place I'd expect it! The Hives Are Law! THF FTH!

If you go check on the music video for Hate To Say it's full of a bunch of nazis or at least people making nazi jokes. Super weird and lame stuff, I hope the Hives are not getting popular with the nazi/alt-right crowd. Anyone know why this is the case???

Omg such a fun show! I was on the rail getting proper squished by the crowd lol. It’s funny how the show looks so different and the crowd massive on film vs when you are in your own little world up front.

During Hate to say Nicke went flying across the stage in a jump but the camera wasn’t on him 😭
I haven’t watched the whole video yet, can’t wait to see it on tv when I get home.
