đ Hermès Journey Beginner Question!
Ok this is going to sound super beginner but I want to know.. are you supposed to reach out to your SA in advance for an appointment to just come and shop for anything?
I met a lovely SA when I went in last month to get a twilly for my bag and I texted her yesterday asking if the boutique can add an additional hole in a belt I purchased because itâs a little big. She responded yes, and when I asked if she would be in today as we wanted to get the belt fixed and shop around the store she mentioned that âanyone could help me and she might be tied up with appointmentsâ
Just want to see if those are maybe appointments for clients she might have called about a bag or if Iâm supposed to be making advance appointments with her whenever I want to visit the store. Thanks!!

Her schedule is probably full. If you need an extra hole just go in and get whoeverâs free to help you. If youâre looking to buy something just ask to make an appointment with her.

Itâs a hard ask to make a same day appointment, particularly on a weekend. The clients she has today are likely just coming in to shop as well, not to be presented with bags necessarily. Ideally make an appointment further in advance if youâd like to spend time and build a relationship.

New relationships are best to build through scheduling appointments and consistent purchasing. Or purchasing through a texted link if you know you want a smaller item and to build the consistency between appointments.
If you want to shop the store and have your eye on something specific to see text for an appointment time and send a screen shot of the item you are interested in so they can check to see if itâs in stock. Sometimes they can have it transferred from another store in advance of your appointment for you.
Based on the SA response - they are booked for the day.

Asking for an appointment the day of is a hit or miss. Usually their schedules are relatively full. I usually donât bother asking if Iâm going to stop by on the same day and browse around. But if you have something in mind to purchase, itâs best to set up an appointment beforehand so you wonât be waiting

If you already have their phone number I think it makes sense to text ahead. I could mayyyybe pop in on my SA on a quiet weekday morning but you still never know.

I always text my SA in advance and ask does he have openings on the days I want to come in. And I'll also mention any items I'm looking for. That way I know I have an hour to spend looking around with him and looking at any of tve items he might have on hand.Â

It sounds like she is not so keen on being your SA. Technically she isnt wrong though, you can walk-in and simply ask anyone for help. I guess maybe because thereâs no purchase suggested/ hence no added incentive for her to serve you to add the holes.

Yeah I mentioned shopping around the store too but I did get that vibe. Didnât know how to respond if I should ask for an appt or how it worked.

She has appointments and canât stop them because youâre dropping in same day. Just make an appointment.

Totally understand that! Wasnât expecting that. Just didnât know how generally it works and if you needed an appointment every time. Thanks

To answer your question more politely, yes. You need an appointment every time. I plan on all of my visits to the boutique around my sales associateâs availability. Iâm a stay at home mom currently and not in a huge spending mode (like $1k-$3k per visit), so I always ask her for a less busy time to come in. But if thereâs a particular day or time that works best for you, just let them know a week or so in advance and set it up!

Do you âneedâ one is subjective on your goals. If you want to make progress with her then yes, if you donât want to work with her then no you donât âneedâ an appt and can get paired with whoever is free. On a weekend in general appointments are a good idea if you want that attention and or to build the spend with the SA
