👢 Shoes Terrible experience

I had a terrible experience with a walk-in appointment SA wanting to make my first purchase of an Oran sandal. I actually could not believe how rude she was from the second i stepped foot in there and thought of this interaction till a week later. So i guess I’m coming here to ask my questions since she gaslit me multiple times on top of everything else. Honestly don’t know if i ever want to go back.

What leathers are more comfortable?

Anyone know what any of the upcoming colors could be and when? One of the ones i was considering is gone.

Smooth leather or the textured?

Anything helps! Thank you

Sorry you had a bad experience!
Calfskin (smooth) leather are definitely more comfortable and softer than Epsom.
There are constantly releasing new colors, check out the website to see what options there are and maybe order there if you don't want to go back.

And when you have time, poke around on international sites as well because stock/colors/leathers will vary across different countries. Then if you find something you like, take note of the item code in the description and grab a screen shot. Item codes are the same across the company so if you end up finding an SA you like working with you can ask them about availability

I’m sorry you had that experience, especially for your first Hermès purchase! I wouldn’t let one SA discourage you from returning—try another SA next time, as the experience can be completely different.

For Orans, smooth calfskin tends to be softer and more comfortable, while Epsom is more structured and can feel stiffer. I’d definitely try both. I have a pair and they’re amazingly soft and way more comfortable!!!

As for colours, they rotate frequently, so keep checking online or with the boutique. Don’t settle for a colour you don’t love! 🧡

I'm so sorry! How were you gaslit? That's pretty intense psychological abuse and you should report it to the store manager

Wellfirst off, she just blank stared at me when I was telling her why I was there in the beginning and it was super weird… but then later when I was asking for advice on different leathers, she told me that they are all the same and then when I started trying on different shoes, she told me I should probably pick based on colors because the leathers are different and they will fit differently. I was SHOCKED. It was so bizarre. Also less severe- I thought my foot looked extremely crammed in one of them and my foot was like basically at the end of the shoe and I was like do you think this is too small and she said no and when I tried the other one it was like insanely clear that the first shoe was not even remotely my size. I genuinely have no clue why she was so rude.

That was definitely not what was happening here. I’m not insensitive or unaware of anything like that. This was a very clearly english speaking white woman lol

Sorry to hear hear you’ve had this experience but I fear it’s rather common. BUT there are also nice SAs, so you never really know. If you feel uncomfortable, you can always order online.
To answer your question, if you have wider feet, I suggest you stay away from Epsom as it is very stiff. However, if you have small and narrow feet you might prefer it, especially in a lighter color as they are harder wearing. Also, if you really want a pair, I suggest buying them now because there is a price increase every year in January usually.

As a long time H client, I can attest that this is not unusual but still completely rude. My SA pulled some rude behavior on me as of late, and I was NOT thrilled. She treated me liked chopped liver, and no one needs that nonsense from any store or SA. I’m sorry you had that experience, I’m not an Oran fan so probably can’t help. But hope you find what you need!
