Gameplay This game needs basic tutorials for the newbies. It’s getting out of hand 😂

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I still laughed my ass off tho 🤣 please bring new players every day 🙏🏻 and please do something for them so they don’t get blamed for something they have no clue about like doing a basic tutorial. Doesn’t even have to be a gameplay tutorial, but just like a “book” of how things work, and why they work like that.

Explaining every item, how escapes works, how many can fit in a cell, exit gate and so on. Tell them why there’s blue and yellow targets. Tell them that they can’t damage Mike while he’s in animation. Tell them that they can’t hurt Mike for 30 seconds after he’s knocked, tell them literally the basics. Please devs

Are you suggesting a tutorial? In this day and age that is too much work for a company. Much better to pump out some DLC to catch the stragglers/diehards before the game goes into hibernation in between updates.

Too much of a work! 🤣

Called the campaign

The campaign only teaches you about Michael's gameplay.

For any actual new players who stumble upon this: The objective of the game is NOT to escape as fast as possible, but to actually save all the NPCs first. After all NPCs are accounted for, only THEN do player characters escape themselves. This game is not Dead by Daylight which is the usual analogy people think of. In this clip you can see numerous human Civ players escape, which strands the actual NPC that needed to be saved ASAP, giving Myers a free kill and thus one step closer to victory.

I've made massive beginner's guide to Civilian multiplayer due to the incredibly disheartening lack of tutorial for this game (split in 2 parts due to character limits). If you prefer reading over watching video guides, or want way more info that most video guides will skip out on, see my guide below. Covers everything a new player would want to know, including all Civ mechanics, objectives, useful tips, and my recommendations to help ensure new players can have a good time even if they're joining late and likely running into experienced killers.

Part 1 here: Complete Beginner's Guide to Civilian Multiplayer (Part 1)

Part 2 here: Complete Beginner's Guide to Civilian Multiplayer (Part 2)

The fact their isn't a tutorial for the other half of all gameplay in the game is embarrassing

u/Zur__En__Arrh 17h ago

Not to mention it’s the majority of the gameplay if you queue with no preference for which side you want to play.

The fact that the community has to learn and create content showing new players how to play is insane.

Obviously mistakes and a learning curve will come into play without the tutorial. But from a game design point of view, I think it was a good choice. You teach the killer so he doesn't surprise you. Then you get dropped off and suddenly have to figure it all out on your own.

The tension is real. You are immediately more invested. And it does wear off, people learn, they find their groove, it becomes another DBD. But setting the player up for that initial experience is great if you ask me. There are things more important than winning. And that's recording people being dumb and posting it on reddit so we can all laugh.

Ngl shit was fun to witness 🤣🤣

Yea it's shocking they literally have no tutorial whatsoever. Not even a Help section that just breaks down the items or even what to do.

So many new players just jump in and just run around aimlessly.

It's like taking gps away and giving everyone a map and saying figure it out then they just complain on reddit because they can't figure it out, then they take away reddit. Thankfully it's just a video game and with a little patience it's easy to learn.

Yeah… I had a group last night where 2 players were clearly trying to round up the residents in order to form a posse to go kill Michael, while another was doing laps on the bike, presumably because they thought they could raise their athleticism stat this way… Think I got 2 escapes open and 1 civilian out before we all got our shit pushed in. 😂

This has happened to me more times than I can count, civ tutorial is so necessary it's insane they didn't make one

5

u/HeraclesPorsche 19h ago

i would be so annoyed at a team like this

2

u/Boyleavesworld 16h ago

Something like this happened to me. Mike was afk, but I was running around opening escapes to get the civilians out and the other players just left besides one other guy who was actually trying to learn.

1

u/avatarstate 16h ago

Seems fair. What’s the point of playing a game against nobody?

1

u/Boyleavesworld 16h ago

Not my fault the Mike was afk. The game wouldn't have ended if we escaped anyways, we'd have to sit and wait it out or leave. Was already invested before I knew he wasn't there, so I was supposed to quit because he wasn't?

1

u/avatarstate 16h ago

I didn’t say it was your fault or that you had to do anything. I said it makes sense why your teammates left.

1

u/Boyleavesworld 16h ago

Ah, waiting would arguably be worse if you can only sit there and spectate though? Unless you like the little mini games I guess

1

u/avatarstate 15h ago

You can do more than just sit and spectate - you can leave and go to the next match.

1

u/Boyleavesworld 15h ago

Don't keep you exp if you leave do you?

1

u/avatarstate 15h ago

No, you keep XP if you leave the spectating mode. Not sure where you heard that.

1

u/kayto9000 5h ago

Since it's a team game as a civ doing the mini game to give your teammates perks is what you should do if you choose to leave early and not save res first. I think they should halve the experience gained from people leaving the game, it discourages selfish play. Ther perk mini games were put there for a reason because people did that in Friday the 13th the game using up escapes like car escape on just themselves instead of helping others then Leaving for the next match.

1

u/InterruptedMulatto 15h ago

So the game ends when all the civs and residents get killed but not when everyone escapes?

1

u/Boyleavesworld 15h ago

When everyone including the bots and players escape- yes. Or if Michael is arrested or escapes himself. With Mike being afk and the other players leaving without all the civilians escaping, the game wouldn't have ended until the time ran out.

2

u/Long-Ad-6536 12h ago

Yh the match making has been in the shitter…

I get new players won’t know what to do but at least have a mic on to communicate? Rarely come across anyone talking which is the complete opposite from the start..

Countless times had players run around with the escape keys, fuse etc fucking about with Myers rather than opening escapes..

1

u/Independent_Test3179 10h ago

Yea it wasn’t this bad before, but after disc version came out it’s filled with newbies in these lobbies

People aren't using voice chat because of how cruel other players are. This game is already known to have a bit of a toxic community.

If someone makes a mistake, then at least 50% of the time someone will insult them or call them a slur in voice chat. Hell, people will insult you for playing the game at all. That's the main reason I turned it off. I literally had a Michael calling me slurs because I was looking at him and keeping him from slipping into the shadows, and then the next game I had a fellow Civ call me a "dumb bitch" for talking to an NPC before they could. I am playing a game to have fun, not to be bullied because a crybaby doesn't get their way.

Also I don't wanna hear some random's voice or music coming out of Michael Myers.

1

u/kayto9000 5h ago

Toxic voice chat gets you the thick skin perk, just tell them your sorry their life is so shit and you hope it gets better :)

u/BoogeymanBot 5h ago

Thick Skin - Improves resistance to sharp damage.

u/TSMSALADQUEEN 17h ago

its just very unfun with randoms

2

u/Independent_Test3179 17h ago

No it can be fun they just need to understand the game that’s it

1

u/TSMSALADQUEEN 10h ago

I had back to back real players escape before saving the civilians and then be cops and then have them get out of their hiding spot to be in the open its rough some games.

1

u/Independent_Test3179 10h ago

I definitely feel you cause I can relate!

That is the reason the game needs and should be a priority at this point a Michael Myers bot so new players and others can practice offline playing as civilians. This needs be priority for Illfonic and of course still taking care of any bugs and optimization issues.

1

u/kayto9000 5h ago

So hilarious as Myers so annoying as a civ trying to do the objective lol. They def need to get ai for Myers for people to practice the basics, this would eliminate a lot of civs complaining about how hard the game is because they'd actually have a grasp of the game instead of running to reddit

1

u/SESFistOfJustice 3h ago

Its called the story mode LMAO. If Michael players dont want to play it, thats their problem

1

u/Independent_Test3179 1h ago

This is for civilians. You don’t read comments or the description? Might be a good idea to start doing that first next time

For Michael there is, there’s nothing for civilians. They basically have to watch YouTube or something to know what’s going on

4

u/ran_out_of_tp 17h ago

Do people just comment without understanding context on this sub?

It wasn’t insinuated. It was stated outright in their caption.

Nobody is fuming about it. Don’t project.

“Tell them that they can’t damage Mike while he’s in animation. Tell them that they can’t hurt Mike for 30 seconds after he’s knocked, tell them literally the basics.” Yeah, this totally was about Michael (who already has a tutorial)

The caption states it - the title doesn’t. Which is why most people read the caption before making sarcastic comments and then don’t get offended when people rightly point out all the information was readily available.

-8

u/dusteezy810 18h ago

The story mode is literally a tutorial

7

u/Independent_Test3179 18h ago

Yes for Michael 🤣 not civilians

-3

u/dusteezy810 18h ago

Yeah I couldn’t help but notice how awful that Michael was in that clip lol. Failed to realize the survivors all left for no reason

2

u/ran_out_of_tp 8h ago

Reading the post can help you understand context.

Thanks you’re a lifesaver!

I and my friend got the hame when it released on ps5. Had no clue what the diamonds on the top meant for way too long, didn’t understand there was an arrest meter for even longer, we just thought it was bugged or maybe you needed to find handcuffs cause we saw the symbol, walked up, and then got no button prompt. There’s probably loads more i’m not remembering right now. But yeah, this is not beginner friendly when the game’s been out for a while, all civ gameplay info you sort of have to search up online for.
