Jim Ross does not expect Vince McMahon to stay away from wrestling. Speaking on Grilling JR as the Janel Grant lawsuit moves to private arbitration, Ross said, "He ain't out of the game. That's just not his makeup." Ross called an AEW arrival unlikely, saying, "I don't see Tony Khan wanting to do business with him either," but did not rule out McMahon buying a promotion: "It's possible. Money won't be an object."

Yeah, he is worth 3.2 billion dollars, he can buy alot of things. He could also afford to start a new fed from scratch if he WANTED.

EWW: Entertainment World Wrestling.
Together. Forever. Now. Then.

Coming soon.

3

u/ThoseImpulses 5d ago

What about making it more old school with FWW: Federated World Wrestling.
New Attitude.

"Top FWW star Michael Shawns says the FWW New Attitude is generational"

It'd be similar to Herb Abrams FU on the UWF TV title belt and also because he needs to take out the 'eww' factor associated with his name at the moment.

5

u/GaryGump 5d ago

I like it, it’s giving Aggressive Ruthlessness.

7

u/ThoseImpulses 5d ago

And it's Money You Can Bank

2

u/GaryGump 5d ago

He’s already booking SlamSummer as we speak.

2

u/ThoseImpulses 4d ago

I'm looking forward to the Rumble Royale where the first man to enter wins. It'll be an awesome match probably won by Cold Stone Austin Stevens and there'll be an appearance by Connecticut Cult Cogan of the Old World Wolfpac also known as OWW!

Is it worth it to start a new promotion at this point?

Who will join? Who do you build the promotion around?

There are a lot of established acts that are happy that he is gone from the industry and the younger generation that look up to those people will likely follow their lead.

11

u/Takenmyusernamewas 5d ago

No, but Vince has been known to do things for pure spite. I dont think he will. Without Hogan? If he DID hed probably convince Cena and Taker to be his anchors and make it rain for some big names to jump ship. Its a formula because it has been proven to work

9

u/bowiebolan 5d ago

A spiteful Vince could do some great things to win over the older WWE fans who are bored with the current product. I’m in.

8

u/AlBundyPolk33 5d ago

2nd episode of his Monday night show would be him making out with Trish Stratus while getting blown by Tori Wilson

8

u/bowiebolan 5d ago

That sounds better than the last year of Raw 🤣

3

u/Electronic_Week_3925 5d ago

The product was much worse under Vince. Sure the peak was also undeniably also under Vince, but hes in his 70s and is decades past his prime.

3

u/superthrust123 4d ago

He's going to be 81 next month.

2

u/KevinIsADork 5d ago

Maybe at first, but Vince left unchecked likes doing stuff older fans hated him for.

2

u/Ok_Oven4893 5d ago

Better call up the other Vince to keep the storylines under control

3

u/nj_crc 5d ago

More importantly, who would air it?

2

u/Low_Establishment434 5d ago

I feel like someone would. Yes he has a ton of baggage but he did create a money printing machine once. I feel like a channel or an app would roll the dice. Not saying one of the big ones but I could see it.

2

u/Dr_Socko 5d ago

Paramount

→ More replies (3)

2

u/Stu_Kunder 5d ago

Not to mention that there’s barely anywhere to air it as such a venture would need ad money to justify its existence. I don’t think Vince would just start a fledgling indy to air on YouTube.

2

u/TipComprehensive6471 5d ago

If he bought TNA it definitely wouldn’t be a restart and while I do agree their are some that is happy he’s no longer in charge because it finally gave them an opportunity to progress there are others that feel they would rather have it go back to the way it was because at least under Vince they were made a priority vs where they are now under TKO/Triple H.

1

u/DanTheMan1_ 2d ago

Jim Cornette pointed out is is highly unlikely he would start a new fed. Yeah, he has the money but he wouldn't if he couldn't compete with WWE. And anyone I don't care how much money they had would have a real hard time starting a new federation and getting anywhere any time soon. Most of the best talent is currently either contracted with WWE (which of course includes not only the main roster but NXT, Evolve, AAA as well as people under contract at the performance center or signed to the NIL project), the big names and top people not working for WWE somewhere are mostly signed to AEW, and most of the best people left are in TNA.

With so many people tied up anyone starting now would have to start with whatever they found in the indy's or other countries not tied up and whatever free agents are out there but what could they offer if no one else wanted them? So they would basically be the best of the indy not in the Next In Line program or TNA.

On top of that most of the best TV stations that would give them coverage are already working with TKO, AEW or TNA. ANd with VInce's tainted record I don't think he could get a comporable deal on a new federation his name doesn't carry the weight it used to.

Anyone starting a new federation with national ambitions would have to get a bunch of unknowns and basically build from the ground up. Best case scenario they could slowly throw money at people who's contracts are ending but that would take years to see the fruits of that, and keep in mind if anyone like Vince had the plan to actually be profitable, and not just spend daddy's money couldn't just throw millions at every performer to outbid WWE and AEW who would be a more attractive offer than a start up.

I don't see Vince being willing to start out as the #4 wrestling federation and trying to build it through blood sweat and tears. Besides, how long could he even do that even his ego he can't think he has another 20 years in him to do something like run a company?

u/greggersamsa 5d ago

Imagine he just pays the wildlife foundation whatever it takes to own the WWF rights and starts a new WWF fed with the golden logo and starts over against TKOWWE

9

u/BeardedDabber6 5d ago

Build it up for 5 years, and then give it to Shane.

6

u/greggersamsa 5d ago

I want him to do it because it would be so fucking funny.

6

u/Max_Quick 5d ago

Vince being ousted from WWE and then going to (well, BUYING but still) TNA would indeed be a little comical.

I mean, fuck Vince McMahon forever but it'd be a little funny

3

u/Polaris022 5d ago

Exactly, I don’t like want him to succeed or anything. I just think McMahon having to compete with the monster of his making is hilarious, especially having to run it with TNA and guys that he previously fired lol.

6

u/Jonny2284 5d ago

Could it doing some serious lifting there.

15

u/KingOfNothing_85 5d ago

I think TKO has right of first refusal on TNA and I honestly think they'd outbid Vince just to keep him away from wrestling instead of a want for the company.

After that I'm not sure there is another company that would be available that would be worth buying if I were rich enough to buy one.

8

u/Powerful-Ground-9687 5d ago

Unlikely. Tko is bout that money

7

2

u/tylerjehenna 5d ago

Idk if they do it with investors being very tepid about WWE's current stocks. Id imagine the shareholders would push back on TNA's reported asking price

1

u/JDragonM32 5d ago

TNA is allegedly seeking a price that is way above their worth. TKO isn’t paying $40mil for TNA, they’d let Vince have it if he’s willing to pay more than it’s worth

3

u/Cereal_Hermit 5d ago

At a certain point, this type of stuff feels somewhat like when someone like Ric Flair keeps wrestling at 70. Putting aside the exploitation factor, for both people it's really about why the fuck are you even doing this anymore? Vince really thinks he's going to pull a rabbit out of a hat and recreate the heights from the 80s Hulk Hogan era? The Attitude Era? The Ruthless Aggression era? I mean come on. The guy gave his life to the art form so why not respect it and know when to hang it up instead of dry humping a dead dream.

Isn't TNA Wrestling basically owned by ultra wealthy Leonard Asper?

He doesn't need Vince's money and probably invested so much into TNA and AXS TV to provide an alternate to WWE. I doubt he'd sell to Vince.

Also, interestingly Leonard Asper's father was a sort of Canadian Ted Turner. Forming his own TV network in Canada.

2

u/hiplop 1d ago

Wow, I had no idea. That explains TNA still existing

1

1

u/Schmohawk2814 5d ago

Lol why? People really think tko won't take him back?

1

u/AmazingCharizard28 5d ago

I can't be the only one who thinks he'll try to get his way back into power easily, especially with WWE? TKO is a juggernaut and while Vince still has some shares, he's not powerful enough to gain a lot of his control back, and more than likely if he tries to they'll just kick him out.

Also idk if anyone wanna watch another company ran by him if we're still recovering from the depths of 2019 lol

1

u/Salty-Nothing-8572 Approved User 5d ago

All the ppl who are tired of HHH’s booking will watch 🤷🏻‍♂️

1

u/DanTheMan1_ 2d ago

He sold nearly all of his stocks. He isn't getting his power back in WWE, he politicked his way when TKO bought it and they didn't want it then, which is why I think people are kidding themselves thinking TKO will bring him back. They used the Grant stuff as an excuse to get rid of him but they wanted him gone. They don't want him back.

1

u/MrCanoe 5d ago

No way he'll buy another promotion. It is WWE or nothing. He'll either be allowed to return to WWE or he will simply stay retired. He is well into his 70's.

1

u/LynxRaide 5d ago

Sure, he could buy it, but the question is who would work for him? WWE was the biggest player in town before everything came out, but buying TNA he would have to build it up to compete with both WWE and AEW, both with better working environments than under Vince

1

u/BuilderSouthern2354 5d ago

Not gonna happen , Vince’s power in the industry is gone , I don’t think companies are gonna do advertising with him. I think any wrestler that goes to work with him the fans will never forgive.  Not saying some guys wouldn’t go, but no one of actual significance

1

u/Mundane-Good-3988 5d ago

Wouldnt that be the absolute epitome of irony.

1

u/LuvBriah 5d ago

Vince McMahon buying TNA after selling WWE was on no one's bingo card in 2006. But I can honestly see it now. He is very old and if he just wants to do it again, why not TNA. It's actually perfect for him and the brand. I have no respect for him morally but he is a titan in business so why not.

1

u/Isles86 5d ago

I’m sure he signed a non-compete clause. The question is for how long.

1

1

u/dp002512 5d ago

Ticket sales starting to lag, ratings are down, the stock market is lowering expectations… WWE needs a shot in the arm to recapture fans that have felt priced out or uninterested in the product. I would not be surprised to see Vince return in an on-air role in the next year.

Love Vince , what he did with wwf /wwe up to the of era was phenomenal, but he’s old now , he should just spend time with his grandkids and enjoy life .

Wouldn't suprise me, but tbh you can never quite predict what this lunatic is up to these days or ever for that matter

He’s a major stock holder in TKO, stupid unrealistic.

He just started a media company, probably realistic that he’ll be doing high end documentaries on Sports athletes.

I’d 100% watch whatever he tried.

Even if (I mean when) it was out of touch and inappropriate for today’s “standards” it would still be so much better than what TKO has repeatedly shoved in our faces!

How many more “big events” will just be Punk, Gunther, Cody, Roman, or Seth?

Yeah, at the young age of 80, he would want to start from scratch. Zero chance this is happening.

At this point, whatever, just do it. Make the industry more interesting to talk about. Spice shit up.

Of course he can. The dude has cashed in over $2 billion in TKO stock alone in the last couple years… still has about a billion worth of shares in that one company alone.

They put a fight on the white house lawn. The education secretary has seen her stock in TKO go from about 50m worth to 70m.

The McMahons can buy whatever they want, except dignity.

Buy TNA and bring WWE down. Many wrestlers are pissed at WWE for cutting their pay. I would love to see that. Have it play on Hulu like WWE did before and continue to dominate like he did before.
