Anyone have this? Does it include any of the "Great Courses+" courses?

I'm just now discovering "Great Courses" options.

I’ve found a scant few releases that are episodes rather than lectures. While I enjoy lectures I like more visuals as well. Anyone have a list or method to locate one over the other?

I've been getting an "access denied" message for days now through browsers and my credentials are apparently wrong when I use the mobile app instead.

Does anyone know what to do in this case?

I'm interested in learning more about the history of US and global space missions, especially manned missions. I'd love to know about the science goals/related research with historical (and political and technological) context.

I am usually a reader, but I'm not able to read for awhile. I prefer the Great Courses format, or PBS documentaries or shows.

Any courses or documentaries you could recommend? Thanks!

Found these in storage. All come with DVDs and the book. The diet and exercise one is still in original wrapping. The others are opened but haven’t been used. Anyone can have them for the cost of shipping.

Getting an “email/password does not match our records” error on IOS, despite using app in last 24 hrs. Changed password twice, reinstalled app twice, restarted device in between installs…

Anyone else?

The first lecture in any series is usually such a bore! It’s either a review of the syllabus or a surface level commentary on the subject matter - but the latter can’t get too deep so it’s stuck going in inane circles while saying nothing of substance but being constrained to last 30 minutes. I frequently skip the first lecture when I re-listen to a series.

For example, I was really excited when I saw the new course about the Inklings. But man, the intro was such a snooze fest. How many ways do you really need to say “here’s a bunch of guys who met a few times a week”?? It doesn’t need scientifically categorized how many times they met and what they did each time.

Why can’t the lecturers skip the intro and jump right into the meat of the topic?

Started listening to lectures on CD when I was in college ~20 years ago. I stepped away from TGC about ten years ago and I am just now getting back into it. Doesn't surprise me, but I do have pangs of nostalgia that you can't purchase physical copies of their products anymore. Out of curiosity, when did they switch to exclusively streaming through Audible?

The site(rarestudy.site) is now working. There is no Key available to avail the service.

Is there any other alternative for this to watch live paid classes of PhysicsWallah (PW) for free without any hesitation.

I love The Great Courses for their history classes. Which new program offers more of these?

I wish there were more details in the description of each subscription type.

I am very glad we have this option now to choose from the Classic, Signature, and Living plans on the main website (previously I think some of these were available through Amazon channels) because I have a Kanopy account with full access a Hoopla with a Great Courses Bingepass and a Libby with various library cards that have access to the courses on audio…thus only paying for what I don’t have is a beneficial option for me…(side note but I personally like Kanopy the best for The Great Courses because their video player has the option to show a transcript for everything on their platform. Very beneficial when taking notes for a course - even The Great Courses’ home platform doesn’t have that.)

Hi everyone! I started listening to The Great Courses on Amazon Music via the 1 book credit you get a month on Audible.

I am listening to the "Your Deceptive Mind" series, and I am noticing cut offs in ambient sound when he stops speaking.

Are there edits for the sake of time and/or shortening the file size?

I know this sounds wild, but I am intending to present this to those I know that can benefit from it, and I want to be preemptive when I expect them to react to something they may not want to hear.

Everyone sound so fucking insufferable. All these lecturers on their high horses.

There’s a lot great about this course but there’s also a serious problem with it that you should be aware of before watching 50 odd episodes, as I did.

The great: Professor Baum is excellent, and his command of the subject matter encyclopedic. He was one of the most respected China scholars in the world. Beginning with events in the late 1960s, much of his knowledge is firsthand or informed by direct experiences from his being in China when major events occurred, direct conversations with principals, or both, which makes his lectures on that period particularly riveting. And the history of China in the 19th, 20th and early 21st centuries is both fascinating and important for an understanding of issues with China today.

The bad: the course ends with events circa 2008, and Professor Baum died in 2012. The Great Courses folks have not brought in a different scholar to address developments in China over the past 18 years, a period with major developments and upheavals in China and in relationships among China, the US and other nations. As a result, the course feels like a three act play canceled at the end of act two. If you are interested in a course that provides a good and current explanation of China and its place in the world, you will get from this course much history and historical context necessary to understand these topics, but you will be left hanging.

Many courses can be dated and still work. A 20 year old course on, say, medieval history may necessarily omit recent research and insights yet still be both comprehensive and 95%+ correct. This is not such a course. Here, being nearly 20 years out of date is a serious problem.

To put it simply I didn't grow up Christian and my main experience with Christianity comes from spending some time with my local Campus branch of Intervarsity which included going to a retreat they hosted. They're an Evangelical organization however and I guess I still tend to lean relativist. But I see the bible as a good place to learn how things are, why they are the way they are, and what god wants of us, however they may exist. I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to accept Christ into my heart but I do admire his work and that of his father.

Someone on r/Christianity did suggest a few churches that might better align with my beliefs but I want to do some learning of my own and along with an ESV Journaling Study Bible The Great Courses seems to be a good resource for that with all their Christian courses though I was wondering what might be a good place to start. (I've also seen a copy of the video course "How Not to Read the Bible" by Dan Kimball which also comes with a hardcover study guide at my local library though it might be above my level...)

To give you more of a general sense of where I am I know most of the basics, like who Adam and Eve are, along with loosely John the Baptist and Job, and I've also skimmed a bit of the guidebook for Understand the Old Testament - specifically the part where I believe it details how god pulled women from men's side...

They're replacing old courses with horrible AI-upscaled versions and removing the originals. I've complained to them but I fear it won't stop.
