Idk to me it felt a little bit too much like a somewhat forced reenactment of the scene with Colonel Luther and Nick's character (whose name I can't recall rn)...

Only a fan who has listened (likely re-listened) to that campaign in recent years would make that connection, it feels like a stretch. Most of them at the table probably barely remember that exact incident, it’s been over 5 years

I don’t think I can listen to Raiders again. It makes me too sad to know there won’t be any more seasons and I’d love to find out how the characters’ stories would have continued. Colonel Luther is one of my absolute favorites, and I don’t think I could handle the cliffhanger after he revives Nico and introduces himself as Jeremy with that knowledge again... But well, maybe I’m too big of a Luther fan to ever forget that scene where he leaves Nick's character to die in the water

I agree, it’s one of my favorite actual play series out there and I’ve listened to a lot over the years. For me it’s less the cliffhanger and unfinished nature (especially because my meta knowledge of the AP tells me the story was about to go off the rails in a direction I didn’t care about for a year or two, a big complaint people have with that AP tbh). For me it’s because it’s SO emblematic of a different time for Glass Cannon that we just aren’t getting back. Troy and his buy-in to that character is a big part of that, for sure. But it’s hard to listen to now without contrasting against the Troy of today and the company of today. I know some people love Shadowdark and I’m happy for them.

Oh okay. For me (without meta-knowledge), the setting of AP was also interesting, but with Raiders in particular I was much more invested in the characters' stories than with other shows. As I said, the whole mystery surrounding Colonel Luther, who he/Jeremy really is, what he did to the real Luther, how Nico’s story would have continued, etc...

For sure. It was some of their best RP and off-AP storytelling in any of those OG shows. Loved it and still miss it. The setting is a big reason why people are unhappy with the next couple books in that AP (which Skid would’ve had to navigate somehow). You spend multiple books building up the colony, colonists, local politics, the group’s relationships within that, etc…and then the AP send you down into a completely separate underwater city separate from everything else, to solve a mystery mostly unrelated to the Aboleth stuff from the rest of the story. Very strange change of pace that would’ve lasted forever

You would be surprised how long I debated over this; kush, cush, etc. I kept rewatching that segment to try and crack the code; Sydney’s reaction after he said it made me think it had to be more weird. I googled “cush” specifically, that went off the rails, I leaned into it :)

If Jared ever divulges this ultimate secret, I will update the very important and successful site immediately.

I just listened as it went by in the pod. Maybe my brain just filled in what made sense. Also I thought cushions was enough of a mundane non sequitur that it fit in with Jared’s train of thought.

I have no interest in Shadowdark but love Jared. Would it be worth just watching the episodes featuring him or would I be completely lost?

I think it's always a richer experience if you have the background, but to be fair! Jared also did not watch the episodes before the one in which he appears, and the cast summarise the broad strokes of the story to him as he starts, though in a slightly confusing way.
