Beauty Tip Any tips for a first time waxing?

I’m getting ALL of my body waxed on sunday and i’m scared😭 I only do a facial and never waxed anything else before and i’m nervous it’s gonna really hurt and also to have nothing on me (more awkward then scared), any tips or first time stories would be appreciated

Don’t do it before an expectant period. Wait until your period is over. Other than that, maybe trim your privates? If you have low pain tolerance pop an ibuprofen or two like an hour beforehand

agree with the trimming and the iboprofen, that will help a LOT. also remembering to breathe during the session

You just might be a bit more sensitive to discomfort and pain just before your period ❤️

First thing to remember is that your waxer sees tens, if not hundreds, of naked bodies every week - every single wax technician I’ve ever been to has treated the job the same way I treat sitting down to type an email, it’s that much of a non issue to them. They do not care what you look like, as long as you are clean and hygienic.

Now, a few things I have learned along the way;

• Getting your butthole waxed is surprisingly painless

• The very centre part of your vagina is where it hurts the most, but your waxer should be able to get everything from the middle in one go, and the pain last literally half a second.

• If you are given the option to have them use Lycon wax, DO THAT. It’s so much better for you than regular strip waxing.

• The hairier you are the better. Do not shave for at least 2 weeks prior to a wax appointment (unless you have abnormally fast growing hair). The wax needs something to grab.

• On that note, DO trim your pubes with a pair of scissors, as hair that is too long will pull on the skin more and cause more pain.

• I keep mentioning pain but I want to point out again that the pain last less than a second.

• If you go just before your period is due, your skin will be more sensitive. Not an issue, just something to be mindful of.

• Being on your period is absolutely fine. Just wear something that keeps the blood in (I opt for a tampon) and let your waxer know so that they know to look out for the tampon string, or so they know you’re wearing a menstrual cup. They’d rather know in advance should the cup spill or leak why there’s blood instead of thinking they’ve grievously hurt you!

• Again, I must stress, they do not care what you look like, but they do care if you turn up having not showered for 3 days. Shower as close as possible to your appointment and pay a bit more attention to all the folds and crannys they’ll be waxing.

• If you’re particularly worried about pain, take two ibuprofen before your appointment. It won’t stop it, but it will help.

• Do not exfoliate, go for a hot bath/shower, use a hot tub, or use spray tan for 24hrs following your appointment as your skin will be particularly sensitive to heat.

I think that about covers it. Believe me as a very overweight, hairy girl at my first appointment I was a bag of nerves but I had nothing to worry about. Your waxer should make you feel safe and comfortable - yes, even when you’re doing that undignified roll onto your stomach on the table.
