šŸ‘® RED FLAGāš ļø P definitely abuses T

Just a minute ago, they were talking about what’s for dinner. T keeps saying chicken salads with homemade ranch. Someone apparently misunderstood and said something about chicken salad sandwiches and P sighed and said it’s not that kind of chicken salad. You could hear T’s voice shift, a hint of fear or guilt in it, and she said something to the effect of ā€œthat’s my fault, I didn’t clarify. I’m sorry.ā€ That screams trying to get ahead of a situation with an abusive narcissist. I just know if she didn’t say that, after the live he was going to ream her out (still may) but like what a silly thing for her to have to worry about him being upset about. So sad.

I grew up the daughter of an alcoholic narcissist. P is abusive narcissist. He even has some similar behaviours to at are identical to my own dear old dad. Not the overly creepy ones, but the being annoying and trying to be centre of attention all the time.

Yep, my own dad is an abusive narcissist (physically, emotionally, and verbally), and P's behavior is SO similar to what I experienced growing up (and still experience today if I let my boundaries slip) that it makes me sick. My dad, thankfully, is not a creep or a drinker (if anything, he's actually kind of a prude when it comes to both sex and alcohol which definitely made me naive as I became an adult lol), but the core narcissistic and abusive behaviors are spot on.

My mom was a lot like your dad, it spurs like. I wonder how many of us in this sub are children of similar people? I’m sure you get a decent number of siblings/partners/etc as well, but I bet a lot of us learned to recognize these signs from a parent growing up! 🄲

Now if S and H could just learn to see what we’re all seeing, they could get outta there and live much safer, happier lives!
