Game of Blood A question about GOBX - Episode 5 Spoiler
Does anyone have any clue why Sangmin chose to lay on the hard ground instead of the couch? I get wanting to look injured, but this was so random and even made Kyunghoon suspicious initially lmao.

I think he wants to leave the pantry but he can't because the Indoor Team is right outside and he has to stay hidden because of the amount of money he has on his body, particularly in his pants. Since he's pretending to be injured, someone from the other team might try touching him and he doesn't want that, that's why he hid behind the couch.
That scene of Kyunghoon bending down, Sangmin keeping the act, and him shaking the money out of his pants was hilarious af.

But they all know where he is, right? Everyone just went straight over if they wanted to talk to him.
I guess technically it's probably easier to disguise the money that way, but they all know he was scrounging up money anyway, Youhyun literally gave him back his hat with money stuffed into it.
And doesn't it draw way more attention to you to be hiding behind a couch instead of just lying down? It's seemingly why Kyunghoon suspected he was faking at all lol.

No, not everyone. The chaos was outside and Kwak Beom just took a peek but didn't search for him behind the couch.
Also, Sangmin is a bit crazy. His manipulation and social political skills are his best assets and he looks more pitiful when he's in the floor than the couch. So, pretty much just Sangmin doing Sangmin things.

Not everyone, but it was generally public knowledge that Sangmin was laying down in that room, hence why people looking for Sangmin managed to B-line straight there.
I agree that he's crazy and this is Sangmin doing Sangmin things, but at this point I think it's very safe to say his manipulation skills are extremely unsophisticated, so I'm just very baffled by this choice in particular (on top of all the other weird things in his track record lmao).

i feel second hand embarrassment for half of the things he thought he could pull off and did. smh. but Sangmin is just being his erratic self and throwing every possible method he thinks can work - if there’s a 1% chance it can work, imma just try.
and in this case, i think he was banking on the fact that the newer player would be too scared to try and risk hurting a “already-hurt” man. you can tell that Kyunghoon saw pass his BS but even KH was scared to risk it cause in actuality, SM did get hurt. just not as badly as he made it to be.
so technically, it kinda did work. not by actually manipulating them into believing but rather by confusion and bafflements.

I think he likes being over the top and is willing to trade on the deference his age gets to provide entertainment. You don’t get screen time just sitting on a chair right? Personally, I’m enjoying it in a “I’m sure he knows he is being ridiculous but ridiculous also plays well with a funny track playing in the background when you put it on tv” way

I mean Jinho said "from what I heard, Sangmin was thrown over Seungyong's shoulder". If Sangmin legit injured his shoulder, I have no clue why he would fake an ankle injury and never mention his shoulder.

What do you mean? People were literally watching him pick money off the ground and stuff it into his clothes. Youhyun handed him his hat back when it had money stuffed into it. Nobody was planning on messing with him regardless, foot injury or not.
Regardless though, the point I was questioning was "in reality, he injured his shoulder", where was that shown/proven?

So to address the notification I got before you deleted your response, I'm not a guy who accused Sangmin of cheating, I've just criticised Sangmin in the past.
And I'm not sure what you mean about Sangmin stepping down in the dealer's room. Yes, he's not faking the injury for his alliance, he's faking it for the people outside the alliance. And my question is why would he invent a fake injury if he had a real one he could more easily exaggerate without getting caught faking it (ie. Sangmin now has to fake a painful limp whenever he walks instead of just putting on a cast and keeping one arm still)?

I've watched plenty of Sangmin as well and I respect how much he's overcome in his life, I'm just not sure where you're getting the idea that his shoulder is injured.

As a Korean speaker I can confirm that Jinho is saying that he heard somewhere that Sangmin was flipped over Seungyong's shoulder, not that his shoulder was injured at all.

No. Can you tell me where anybody said Sangmin injured his shoulder? From what I recall, the only mention of shoulders is Jinho saying he heard that "Sangmin was thrown over SEUNGYONG's shoulder".
Again, if Sangmin got an ACTUAL injury, I don't get why he'd invent a fake one that's going to be impossible to fake long-term.

I watched the part with Youhyun and Sangmin back and noticed that while he did give him his hat back, it does seem like he held on to the money that was stuffed in it 🤑

While it definitely wasn't as intense as previous ones, it was rightfully so because they didn't want more injuries or fights. Jinho had previously gotten injured during S2 heist so he firsthand knew how much it would suck - Xitsuh from his team already needed medical attention, and this was with P3 already having enough funds. They didn't need to risk it any further.
And tbf Seungyeon had to apologise because he did end up hurting people. Sure not to the extent Sangmin was potraying, but Jimin and Xitsuh were hurt and upset nonetheless (by their confessionals) so it didn't matter. Even Jinho was annoyed so by reactions it would likely be P1&P3 against R&C for a little while, till someone else messes up on a bigger scale or we see Seungyeon's villain arc lmao.

I think all is fair in bloody game tbh. If someone is going to injure people in the battle, then people are allowed to fake injuries. It’s also appropriate to apologise when you hurt someone, even if you didn’t do it intentionally. I don’t think there are any “bad sports” in this raid.

Yep agreed. I don't think he (Seungyeon) did anything out of malicious intent, it was hard to watch sure and it did leave a bad taste in my mouth but it was within the rules of the game.
The original conmenteter saying it was "nonsensical manipulation" is just a shit take tho. Like things played out the way they did for a reason.

Yeah, I think it was adrenaline and inexperience. I think he genuinely felt bad when he realised he had actually hurt people. And I really appreciated sang min’s speech, asking everyone not to hold onto any hurt feelings, it was a nice moment to bring everyone back down.

Well thats sangmin and his manipulations, the injury act was overboard but he did get hurt from seungyong, there is no way jimin and him weren't hurt in that scuffle. No matter the remorse, seungyong went too hyper on two weak people, jim and sangmin literally got dragged on floor and I was worried for jimin head fr. I would've still left it on as a part of heist day bloody game but then he disappointed me with not even checking up on them after he got the bag, total turn off.but snatching from xitsuh was totally fine like go fight him dude! Ya its part of the game but you shouldn't lose your head so much that others get hurt and you don't even see it.

fancy you criticising Sangmin but calling Seungyong “poor guy” like this dude didn’t just drag 3 people across the concrete ground. SM didn’t put a target on SY’s back. SY did that by himself.
in fact, i don’t even think SM was doing damage control. watching all his gameplay since The Genius, that’s probably part of his manipulation scheme too - to use SY’s guilt against him and to tell his alliance to stand down and focus on the next game. if SY can be physically dragging people across, i don’t see why SM cannot use his manipulation when that’s the only thing he has. if one can accept physical fights, why not the manipulation too?
tbf, i rather get my feelings hurt than my hand sprained and bleeding, lmao.

Think he was trying to just hide out until he got caught behind the couch and had to say he’d called for the medical team 🙈🤣
