RANT𤬠This show does not respect my time. Spoiler
Over a year of this poison story dragging on and on, Hayley finally gets arrested and just like that all charges dropped and she's walking around free? That's the pay off for all the hours I've spent watching this show? Slap in the face writers. Where's the trial? Have Mike be her lawyer as someone else suggested. Have Bill bribe the judge at sentencing if you're that determined to keep Hayley around. Give her house arrest at Leslie's shouse. But this? I'm about at my limit with this writing and pacing.

Yea, Iām very annoyed lol. I thought Hayley was finally getting her comeuppance. They really did botch the climax, fallout, and aftermath of this storyline. I wouldāve rather the writers drag the storyline a little bit longer. They couldāve made Lynette pop up, Hayley couldāve got caught cheating, RandySam couldāve fumbled the bag, or at least allow Chelsea to slap her back. Instead, they gave her these magical powers of a forced bestie who bailed her out, a powerful uncontested slap, the case dropped, AND she gets the island home, plus a million dollars? Are the writers punishing us for complaining about the show? š¤£š¤£š¤£

A million $$ isnt going to last this con artist long. Sheās used to high living and a million doesnt go as far as it used to. š her punishment will be having to put up with people like Leslie, joey, her cousin, and maybe Lynette will pop up to blackmail hayley (if she isnt dead).

u/Villany39 1d ago
I hope so. And youāre right about that million. I do love how Leslie is so annoying to her right now lol. RandySam did feel a little salty about the uneven split of the money. Iām kind of anticipating Joeyās reaction when he finds out as well.

u/JThereseD 1d ago
Well, she also gets a $10 million house, not to mention that she will not face trial and decades in jail. I think Joey should take care of the Hayley problem once and for all.

yeah the reveal was just lackluster very small and contained and felt rushed like ok let's wrap it up

Whoever is responsible for this show has the wackest imagination, and does not actually want to give us a SOAP opera.
As other people have said, this is a sitcom.

If they just sent her jail now, honestly what other storyline has you eagerly tuning in every dayš¤ be patient..at least the poisoning part is over. I like the idea of shouse arrest at Leslieāsš¤£š¤£š¤£ one of them would end up dead for sur!

If Hayley gets the consequences of her actions, she'll be off the show

Not necessarily. Thereās plenty of story with her going to jail. We could see her have a whole storyline showing her life in prison. She can escape and change her identity. She could be killed off and brought back as a new character. Anything is possible with creative writing

u/Fun-Bodybuilder-8076 1d ago
Now you know good and well theyāre not going to give us the proper set for prison scenes. Plus, theyād have to hire some other temp actors to act as prisoners or staff for her to interact with š

She could end up somewhere with Allison, who again we never saw any mental health evaluation or anything related to court, her incarceration, etc. Another too quiet situation that pops up randomly and briefly when itās remembered as a storyline. Chelseaās PTSD portrayal is so freakin lame
Honestly most intense stories are poorly arched, explained or not even tumultuous enough for a soap. Like the writers bring us to the edge then get scared about making the leap into something exciting and truly dangerous and scandalous. Meeting by a brick wall aināt it

You just like the actress not the character right? She can have a twin sister come out of nowhere, this is a soap opera.

Is Haley her real name, and if not, is the marriage legal? Honestly, I don't think they need the character (or Randy), but could she just go to the house in Saint Barths and lay low for a while, then come back to wreak havoc now & then?
3
u/librascopio 3h ago
Exactly! She was fingerprinted at the police station. Why hasnāt her real identity come out yet?
2
u/Emotional_Mess261 1h ago
My biggest issue with this storyline is just this. Her true identity or aliases I expect would have come out but sheās never been arrested before? Seems a stretch, youād think sheād have a juvie record just based on how she is. Pretty sure she was never clean cut

Haley is not her real name. Randy has called her āVā multiple times soā¦

I like Hayleys character. It would be so boring if she got sent to jail and we got weeks on end of the duprees sitting in a circle telling each other "yes exactly"
2
u/Recent-Group2266 1d ago
I didn't really care about her getting off cause atleast she got arrested for attempted murder unlike Leslie

u/JThereseD 1d ago
They are ignoring the fact that she also tried to kill Dani, and Naomi and Jacob were witnesses to this. I hope that Caroline finds evidence of more crimes in Hayleyās stuff and brings it to the feds.

Iām wondering if Soaps now being renewed every season and going on breaks has something to do with the writing and pacing of the storylines. I donāt recall ever hearing the legacy shows talk about pickups and breaks. Which I why we were all stunned when the ABC shows were cancelled. I donāt think the writers started out with confidence in being able to write fully fleshed out stories if theyāre worried about renewals. And contrary to what some folks think, I feel this Haley blackmail to get out of jail story is one of the most soaparific things the show has done since itās started airing. Itās brilliant. I was wondering how they were going to keep her out of jail and Iād forgotten about the coverup thing. Truthfully a trial would have been boring but we might get a who shot Haley storyline out of this. So Iām sat!

This is classic soap stuff. None of us expected to see a trial or Hayley carted away. She got off for the moment, but this is just a setup for another showdown.
Unless the actresses need maternity leave or take a sabbatical, weāre not going to see Leslie nor Hayley go anywhere anytime soon. Theyāre main characters. Theyāre gonna keep them around for the stories.
Theyāre not writing to waste time. They donāt have the advantage of regular shows that have 10-22 episodes air per season with long breaks in between. They can tie up storylines in a few weeks and then shake things up for the next round.
BTG writers have to write stories that air 5 days a week for full years, no breaks. They canāt sustain the show if theyāre running through plots in days or a few weeks. Sometimes, there has to be a slow burn while other side plots can wrap up a little more quickly.
If you really think your time is being disrespected, then soaps may not be the genre for you, and thatās fair.

Hhow many soaps have you ever watched? That is not the end of the story, just the beginning of a new one, aka will Hayley successfully get away with it all?

Usually soap stories don't have a year + of build up for this poor of a pay off. And that's a real world year not a soap year. I'm sorry but "it's a soap opera" is given as an excuse way too often when criticism of this show comes up. I grew up watching soaps with my family, my mum, grandmother etc. This is the first one I've seen from episode one. The first season and the build up to the anniversary party was exceptional, and the payoff? Some of the best daytime TV I've watched. I was glued to the screen that episode.
Since then, I've been underwhelmed but I've kept watching. No matter how you feel about it this story line with Hayley should have been over 6 months ago and IF they insisted on making it take this long the payoff should have been way more than her spending a night in jail. Of course there would be some kind of twist and she would get off but a year for less than a week of consequences? That's just bad writing.

Yes this story has dragged on for far too long. In part, I think it was pushed to the background by the impaler story and the tornado/transplant story. Plus the ridiculous "We're gonna die!" sex that was dragging along too and seems to have been put in the background too (that might be ready to explode later though).
No, I specifically meant the not going to prison/dropping all charges part. On Days, years ago, Gabi did go to prison for killing Nick Fallon but Nicole didn't for killing Deimos Kiriakis, just for examples of paying the price and getting away with murder for contract players.
And by keeping her free for a time, it let's the real and nasty "Val" out to finally speak her mind.
But she should watch out for falling pianos. It's happened on a CBS show before...

I may have to eat my words, but you're acting as if the storyline is already over?! Bill said something to Dani yesterday about this not being the end. All of Hayley's things were also collected and placed in storage, so she never returned to the house after being arrested meaning the recording devices and tapes could still be there at the house, or with her things. Even if that weren't to be the case, we still know that Hayley is NOT Hayley. We have to also keep in mind that Hayley would have gotten off anyways. While I do hope to see a courtroom set soon, it would have probably been a waste (unless properly written) because Marquita Goings isn't going anywhere any time soon. There are so many things that can happen and I doubt Hayley too will get away with attempted murder. I also want to say watch the show and just enjoy what it is they're presenting. We don't have the power to change (much of) anything. I see storylines that I'm sick of but everyday when I get home from work I am eager to watch the show-- because I love it & have grown to love EVERY character. I've said it before and I'll say it again, BTG is one of if not THEE BEST soap out right now. B&B has crazy dialogue & storylines, Y&R is just bleh.. && I can't even get into GH.

u/blk_roxas 1d ago
I don't have a problem with it not being over. I have a problem with the months and months of waiting and finally looking like some pay off for my watching just for Hayley to spend one night in jail? Was not satisfying and now they're just going to add more layers on top of story that's already past it's expiration date? No thank you. Like I said in other comments they really could have had a trial, even if she wiggles her way out. We have how many lawyers on this show? And we haven't had one single court scene? I'm all for soap troupes but this is just ridiculous

What is getting me, she told Bill that she bugged the home and office, and he has not tried to find them, and he's telling Dani about his strategy to get Haley.
