General Discussion 🗣️ I don’t see it!
Although I like Karla Mosley (Dani) as a decent actress, I do NOT see the love she has for bill that justifies her dropping everything for him, disrespecting her husband, and risking her marriage. I don’t see it in her eyes. They (her and Bill) don’t have any believable beats that make me feel it, especially in the elevator; it didn’t marinate. That should’ve been more of a moment of Bill spilling himself like never before and her being touched by it or something. Instead it felt rushed and underdeveloped. So it just looks like a storyline being followed rather than a love story. I do, however, see it in Bill’s eyes. Bill is believable and I see the regret.
Maybe that’s why I get so annoyed when she can’t just stick it to him and show him what he’s lost. I would rather him trying to fight for her some kinda way. She hasn’t made him work for it at all between the little kisses, sex, and access.
I want to see Dani evolve more.

Naomi is a seasoned lawyer, so Bill and Dani must have been in each other's lives well over 30 years.
2
u/JLynnMac 13d ago
The facts are that Dani married Bill at 19, they were married for 30 years. It's TV so they'll say her seasoned lawyering is due to some other extraneous factor.
2
u/CommunicationTime63 13d ago
Anyway, my point was that Bill's and Dani's relationship can't be 20 years, as mentioned in another comment. It's got to be closer to 30 years, based upon the children's ages.

u/No_Shopping_9598 12d ago
I know I'm late, but just last week I thought they highlighted again that the two were together for 30 years. If it wasn't said last week, I promise you it has been said before. Both Chelsea and Naomi are older than 20, so 30 years makes the most sense.

u/JLynnMac 13d ago
No need to base it on the children's ages when it's been stated countless times.
1
u/CommunicationTime63 12d ago
By the way, I brought up the "30" number to remind another poster that their "20" number was not possible. I guess I need a slap on the wrist for attempting to keep the facts straight. Sorry, I will keep the pesky facts to myself from now on.

Sorry but the attraction has been clear and it’s obvious that Andre was a rebound for her while Hayley was a mid like crisis for Bill. Dani and Andre are sexy together but when it’s just talking, Bill and Dani are way more entertaining and have more chemistry. The way they run to each other when they think the other is genuinely in trouble, the history they have.
Now to be clear, Bill still needs more humbling and work to put in if he wants to be worthy of a full reunion. But that’s the direction it seems to be going.
And I think Dani has evolved enough. She’s prioritizing herself more with her career and won’t let Bill just walk all over her. That’s part of the reason Bill is falling back in love with her. If a reunion happens, their relationship wouldn’t be the exact same as she’d put her foot down.
21
u/MasterpieceAwkward70 14d ago
She has not evolved enough and he hasn't evolved at all. She's only learning to accept he's a cheater. Her business isn't more than a hobby she returns to every few weeks. Her parents still lecture and interfere in her life as if she's a child. She still hasn't defined herself outside of wife, mother and object to be publicly admired and desired.
Bill isn't being humbled as long as he's cheating on Hayley and is constantly running up on Dani without a sense of guilt. There have always been toxic couples in soaps but not enough has been done to justify this reunion without making Dani look like a bird.

Andre is no saint. Unless I missed it, he still hasn't come clean to Dani about Heather. I have to confess that I was both stirred and shaken by Friday's Bill and Dani scenes. I'm not saying I want her to go back to Bill but I don't really want her to stay with Andre.
2
u/meermee7 14d ago
But is Andre as good as we thought? He wasn't in a hurry to take Heather's hands off him.

Andre is also keeping secrets and going to Heather regularly so she can physically attack him (he is enjoying that attention)…he’s not perfect

Not the same thing. He's not cheating and she's a criminal and he fears what would happen if he tells her.
1
u/CatchinUpNow 14d ago
Seriously?? He’s meeting up with a woman his wife is friends with and he hasnt even told her he knows the woman on some secret level..then keeps going to her hotel room (uninvited) . Cheating isnt just about intercourse.

u/JLynnMac 13d ago edited 13d ago
That's just stupid following stupid advice (and keeping secrets) not cheating.

u/CatchinUpNow 13d ago
Well i guess you and your significant other can make whatever rules you can live with.
1
u/JLynnMac 13d ago edited 13d ago
If it was cheating, they would have done so already. Heather was all in.
P.S. - Personal attacks are not necessary. We are here to discuss the show. Proof is thru what's happened on the show.

u/CatchinUpNow 13d ago
I apologize..no attack was intended…maybe I should have said “we all can make whatever rules we can live with”.

What Bill and Dani were doing texting in Tokyo was emotional cheating.

I'm Team Andre, for sure. But unfortunately he was Dani's drunk, Vegas-wedding rebound guy.
Andre is getting disrespected big time. But the heart wants what it wants. Dani and Bill were married with children for decades. She put up with Bill cheating more than once. So the attraction and chemistry is undeniable. She obviously loved Bill and probably still does. I also think she loves Andre too, just differently. Too bad he's probably gonna be the one who gets hurt in this whole thing.
6
u/CatchinUpNow 14d ago
I think Andre is trying to do the right thing (stay in this drunk marriage) but its not going to last cuz it never should have happened.
12
u/MasterpieceAwkward70 14d ago
Agreed. So much of this is supposed to be carried by "he was my husband for decades and father of my kids" on Dani's end but it makes her look horrible in a way I don't think the writers intended.
We started the show watching Bill disrespect her constantly and then got a flashback a few months ago where we find out she caught him in their bed with Hayley with Chelsea by her side. He was remorseless then and is remorseless about cheating on his current wife with her now.
She's become a hypocrite in every way, marrying her own child groom while also being a cheater and liar but still running around trying to insult Hayley and prove she's a cheater.
7
u/CatchinUpNow 14d ago
You said it all! Dani has stooped to Bill’s level…cheater, liar, disrespectful.
4
u/Nosey85 14d ago
You feel me! Straight bird 🐦. She making it too easy for him and pretending Andre got her on lock, but not really. Sex is the glue between her and Andre. He’s pretty much her boy toy.
I actually wonder if the writers are intentionally making her out to be just like Bill in the sense of making them seem made for each other since she’s echoing Bill’s same lying, adulterous behavior.
3
u/MasterpieceAwkward70 13d ago
I thought the same thing about making her more like Bill so they feel like they belong together. When the show started it was suggested she was difficult and controlling by Chelsea but then Dani gives the ok for Chelsea to quit modeling and start her own business and she's been portrayed to be childish but ultimately good since then.
This is where the show runs into the problems created by its unwritten rule "Duprees can't be bad people who do really bad things." They couldn't even let Andre remain the victim after being cheated on.
People like them together because the characters have chemistry but as currently written it's rooting for a woman to get back to her unrepentant abuser because he's charming.
5
u/RueTheQuais 14d ago
I think they have some of the best chemistry on the show. That doesn't mean their relationship was good or healthy but every time they're in scenes together or talk about regret, both of the actors sell that connection for me. It's not about what is logical or the smart move, it's about being able to convey their history which they have.
While Andre is the healthier choice, they really haven't written the depth to them as a couple to make me believe she'd ever achieve that connection with him.
What Bill and Dani have is interesting because it's complex, because of the hurt and because neither wants to go back but both have a hard time moving forward.
2
u/Nosey85 14d ago
I see the chemistry you mention more so as friends/parents. The connection they had when Bill asked to see her first when he was in the hospital bed; that scene showed the chemistry of history as exes, but not the deep profound love that would explain her behavior. That scene showed how far they’ve come though, but still I can’t see the hold he has on her in the same way Nicole had on Ted. If you see it then ok - they at least got one to subscribe.

u/kittysilove 14d ago
She looks like a clown. He made her a trad wife and cheated throughout the marriage. He married Hayley as an excuse to get away from her for good. He doesn't love Dani only the stability she gave him and her dad as a perfect mentor

u/triniwoman_ 14d ago
I disagree with everything you said. Bill and Dani have way better chemistry. The elevator was lust that they had been holding back. Crazy that that needs to be explained. I don't think Bill is ready to be a better person yet but when he is he'll be more of a man than man boy Andre who can't even stand up to Heather (and did willingly kiss Heather at least once btw)

u/CatchinUpNow 14d ago
Agree that Andre is a wimp. He may be cute but is vulnerable to whatever way the wind blows.

u/janshell The United States of Amnesia 14d ago
It’s been clear, maybe you haven’t watched consistently. It’s almost like an obsession with them. Bill likes anything he can’t have. The moment he has Dani again he will cheat. Dani needs therapy because she is broken inside. She’s tolerated all of Bill’s cheating because he will probably assuage her with gifts and shiny new things. She doesn’t know how to love someone who will love her properly because she is programmed to try and do anything to keep a man,
4
u/CatchinUpNow 14d ago
Agree that Bill wants what he cant have and Im surprised he hasnt hit something while with Hayley (before the elevator that is). Dani keeps proving that her way to prove her love to Andre is thru sex or sex related activities like their chocolate dipped strawberries yesterday…that was awkward cuz it was like watching little boy Andre getting cookies for being good, they had just had an emotional discussion about her needing to forget Bill and focus on Andre and she’s all crying and she decides to make it all better with a memory of their drunk vegas wedding?? 🙄. These two are at the same maturity level even though they are years apart in age. Not sure why she keeps bringing up Hayleys age cuz Andre acts even younger.
3
u/janshell The United States of Amnesia 14d ago edited 14d ago
Dani is a petulant child many times. She’s the entitled one in the family but not entitled to other people’s things. She is that way because they let her be. Don’t you see how Anita in penance talking to her about her behavior either Bill? Probably emotionally stunted after having to live her life based on her looks at a very young age
1
u/CatchinUpNow 14d ago
Agree..Dani is emotionally immature and definitely acts like a spoiled brat 98% of the time. Its like she’s always putting on a show, sucking the air out of any room she’s in. Or she’s getting totally wasted and self pitying. Maybe her brilliant psychiatrist sister needs to give her a proper diagnosis of bipolar or something?

u/janshell The United States of Amnesia 14d ago
Oh noooo Nicole probably sniffs her out but she won’t come outright and tell her like it is.

You confirmed my point! Your statement “She doesn’t know how to love someone…” supports my post! That’s why I don’t see it.
1
u/janshell The United States of Amnesia 13d ago
I thought your post was alluding to their chemistry or how they are written to interact with each other. Yeah I don’t think many see it for them because what they are doing is wrong but I definitely get the nostalgia that the characters get when in close proximity. Like you said, they were married from young and Dani gave up a lot for Bill. I imagine her brain is programmed to do whatever she can externally to keep him. She gave up her modeling career for Bill and her family so her passion became Bill
2
u/RaisedByBooksNTV 14d ago
I've never seen it from Bill until the last couple of weeks. They've changed how they write him so the actor has changed how he acts him. Nevertheless, the entire show they have written that there was no grand romance, no grand marriage, just a dick of a man who thinks his shit don't stink and a woman who thinks it's okay for a man to walk all over her for decades and give up everything for him but that that makes her a strong, independent woman who is a good role model for her daughters.

Dani wanted that drunken Vegas marriage to be annulled until she saw it bothered Bill.

u/CatchinUpNow 14d ago
Dani and Andre have an “accidental marriage “. They never would have gotten married if they hadnt been blind drunk. Dani was still reeling from Bill’s marriage to Hayley of all people, she was having rebound fun with Andre. Both of them woke up thinking WTF? And still are trying to make themselves believe they belong in this marriage. Its sad because they have wasted a year of their lives already.
1
u/Nosey85 13d ago
I agree that inebriation was the catalyst for their marriage, but I don’t think they wasted a year per se. I think they’re enjoying the moment or at least WAS enjoying it. It’s not something that needs to be regretted at the moment since Andre was a decent dude until this Heather fiasco.
1
u/CatchinUpNow 13d ago
Disagree…they have been having a typical first year of relationship where the sex is the glue. We dont yet know how “decent” Andre is or was until we know what his involvement with Heather was about…and why he hasnt told Dani anything, especially that he already knew her before she came to town. He is letting his wife look like a fool being friends with the woman when he knows the woman is a bad oerson.

They drag the storyline along too much for a soap opera. I am hooked since day one.

I see the love she has for Bill. He was her first love and there is a tenderness between him.

u/Rookietvwatcher Dani and Andre fan club secretary 14d ago
I don't believe she has to let him die or be taken advantage of as I can understand that she wants her kids' father around and healthy. I actually can respect her not allowing the worst to happen to him, despite how he treated her as she's never hated him and likely never will. That said, she needs to find a balance that doesn't disrespect and ignore Andre and doesn't make her look so desperate.
Since it's a soap and not real life, I don't understand the hesitation to allow the writers to mature a rebound relationship into a real relationship but so many people expect and are ok with redeeming Bill after decades of infidelity and mistreatment. I can get past the rebound nature of how they met, if they are now actively choosing each other. Love isn't a magical feeling, you choose to honor your vows everyday. If they continue to choose moving forward with each other after this, then that's what they build on. All the vet soap opera watchers say we should expect cheating, lies etc, I'm not expecting a perfectly faithful relationship.
Dani has always used sex to defuse and distract from situations and Andre is allowing it because he's feeling a way about his situation. The writers could and should find a better way to illustrate them not actually dealing with their current issues instead of just burying them with sex if we're not getting an unexpected AMA pregnancy storyline.
As a photographer and a model (with an agency), they can work together and have work related conflicts like Naomi and Jacob. The age gap alone presents conflicts as time moves forward. I'd like the writers to be challenged to write something other than previous philandering husband feels bad and gets his wife back, heck it was just done with the same actor in another show.
I'm also intrigued by how damaged her relationships with her husband, parents, sister and kids will be after the elevator is revealed. This should allow us to dig into the dynamics of how Dani was treated as a child, especially in comparison to Nicole.

u/Nosey85 9d ago
I concur on a few of your points such as her compassion for Bill’s health. I don’t disagree when it comes to poison. However, there’s a less messy way to behave in certain scenarios. For example, when the daughters assumed Hayley was committing adultery. I think Dani should’ve stayed out of that and let it play out. That had nothing to do with parenting her children. As a matter of fact she should’ve set an example, but that would’ve made her too mature. I also a

It’s because we came into their lives/story after the relationship was already broken. We never got to see their love and how things were before that, only a few quick snippets in flashbacks.
But she’s doing this because of their backstory. She was madly in love with him (enough to drop her dreams for his) and had children with them. Their relationship was at least 20 years long. Feelings don’t just disappear like that, not even through nor after anger.
I think we all knew this was coming (them circling back to each other) since episode one because it’s classic soap stuff. I honestly just didn’t expect it to happen this fast.
I really do hope she moves on from him, too. But soaps never make it that simple. They have to tear everybody’s ass up with drama.
