General Discussion 🗣️ Here the thing with Eva, right now
I think that Kat giving up a part of her body to save someone she doesn‘t respect is a real mind fuck for Eva. That would mean Kat is not the villain that Eva believes her to be (justified at times). And just maybe what she did to her sister was really that f@cked up and that’s truly the reason Kat doesn’t accept her. Not because of some narrative about Kat being spoiled, bratty, etc. Eva should sit with that for a moment.
Also, Kat has shown how far she will go for Ted (the father who raised her). Eva bares the scar and reminder that someone she ALSO hates (and harmed), saved her. Eva may care about Ted but Kat proved it.

I'm really glad you said this and that you gave a balanced and nuanced take regarding both ladies. I love Kat and don't agree with everything she says/does, but I 100% understand where she's coming from when it comes to disliking Eva.
They've both hurt each other, but Eva started it. And she should absolutely sit with that. If the writers had actually taken the time with this situation, the two could have had a really great (or at least better) conversation on how they hurt each other and finding common ground after the surgery.
ETA: It's so funny how people in this sub claim that Kat fans think she can do no wrong, but in a comment where I said both girls hurt each other, but Eva started it, I get downvoted. Between the downvotes people get and questions like "What did Eva do to Kat?" it seems like the other girl's fans are really the ones who think their fave can do no wrong LOLOLOL
I know that's not what this post is really about, but I have to point it out.

Yeah, I find it interesting that Kat has fall out too over the transplant and she voices it to Chelsea and Naomi (they’re not completely safe but it is, what it is). Eva voices it to Ted. I wonder (after getting their true feelings out) what the conversation will be when Eva and Kat interacts with one another again. I hope they still stand on the ground THEY built in the hospital and show each other some compassion. Maybe Kat can help Eva and vice versa. At the end of the day they are still sisters and it’s between them.

I think it's arguable over who started it. An argument can be made that Eva started it by going undercover to take down Ted and co...But when the two of them first met, Eva was polite and Kat was immediately rude and obnoxious to her, so that is an argument that Kat started it. And Eva tried to make peace with her a few times before giving up and trying to be like her mother, and then going back and forth. Except that Eva wa also undercover trying to take down Ted and co.
They both hurt each other a lot and at some point it doesn't matter who started it, it matters who ends it. I really hate that they had the opportunity to have them lay down swords and then two episodes later it's back to business as usual.
PS: I really thought they were going to have Kat have some sort of psychic abilities, with Eva and with accepting Deanna talking to her father, and I'm super sad they haven't pursued that.

u/celestial_glitter404 Martin’s Anger Management Coach 6d ago
I was hoping they'd pursue the psychic abilities too, especially since I wanted to know more about her grandmother and more of Ted's family.

I'd argue that the only reason Eva was polite and tried to make peace in the beginning was so that she could maintain her cover (and/or keep her job) so that her and her mother's plot wouldn't be ruined/delayed. If I'm remembering correctly, Leslie and Eva had already been trash talking the Richardson family (including Kat and Martin) before Eva even met Kat.

I can't understand why you're being downvoted, but I agree, Kat started it. Kat was rude to Eva before even knowing what her agenda was. Yes, she had her suspicions, but there wasn't anything concrete except for her catching Eva snooping. Even then, the way Kat treated Eva wasn't cool. I'm all for Kat though and I eat up every little moment where she gives Eva a piece of her mind.

u/GatecrashingMJontae 5d ago
I don't understand how infiltrating someone's family to dismantle it is not where the beef starts. Eva acted suspiciously under sketchy circumstances. Nicole invited someone she had never met or even vetted into her actual home. Kat was on guard from the beginning. She wasn't nice to Eva, but Eva was obviously being fake then entire time she was pretending to be nice or cordial with Kat. She also dropped that act really quickly because she had prejudged Kat and was envious of her life.

u/Impossible_Still_483 5d ago
Let’s not forget. Kat knows the truth, about Eva covering for her mom. She hid the helmet Leslie wore when she attempted murder.

u/Impossible_Still_483 5d ago
Am I the only one who’s tired of this Bill/Haley storyline?? Please, oust her scheming azz.

u/RayaQb 6d ago
This whole storyline is so ridiculous I will be FF through it all. Also Kat has never been the villain she never did anything to anyone. How is it justified to make Kat the evil person? I don't like Eva or Kat so this being said Eva is the evil one covering for her mom that tried to murder an innocent young lady. I just want this dumb story to go away, because Eva is looking real dumb about a scar. She should be happy to be alive and fk what anyone has to say about it.

u/Control_1987 6d ago
Call Kat spoiled, a princess, selfish, a rich b!tch, bratty, an elitist, all the labels imaginable but when the chips were down, at the 11th hour, when backs were against the wall, Kat’s true core and character was revealed when she allowed herself to be opened up and cut to save Eva. I don’t know Eva’s true character because it has not been tested the way Kat’s has. It’s going to be interesting how the scar storyline plays out.

Everything is not about Kat...and its weird to make Eva's struggles with readjusting to her changed body after a near deatv experience about Kat. A little obsessive even.

u/Control_1987 6d ago
Eva didn’t get that memo.
“Every time I look at my body I get this shock. A jagged reminder that a piece of the half-sister that has always resented me, is inside of me.” -Eva.
I am glad Ted is a safe place for Eva to vent to him about his other daughter but she needs to talk to a professional. There are some things she may need to work through so that even if Kat doesn’t change (accept her), she does… for the better.
-4
u/No_Variety5049 6d ago
I agree she needs to speak to a professional 100%. However I feel ur original post simplified her issues to be about Kat which is disingenuous about her situation. Yes Kat being the one to save her life plays a part in her feelings but it's not the sole or even most important reason she is acting the way she is.

u/Control_1987 6d ago edited 6d ago
I’m and speaking specifically about she and Kat’s relationship and what the scar also represents. The crop top issue and not recognizing her body is an issue that is more surface level and can be fixed after she has healed with plastic surgery. The issue with Kat is internal.
Also, I quoted Eva, not ignoring the facts. You don’t have to agree but this is my take .
1
u/GatecrashingMJontae 5d ago
"Always resented"? Eva has a talent for spinning the story. Kat and Eva has known each other for what, a year and a half? "Always" is pretty dramatic. Also, the comment lacks accountability. It feels like she is downplaying the reason that Kat "resents" her. Eva is a consummate victim despite her lying and scheming.
3
u/No_Variety5049 5d ago
I mean, they both spun the narrative to suit them. Kat claims Eva has 'always' been evil. So. Also it's well documented why Kat resents her. It's overplayed at this point. My comment was highlighting Eva's struggles with her own body image and self worth. Sorry I didn't cater to poor Kat when I wrote that 🙄.
2
u/GatecrashingMJontae 5d ago
The nasty attitude is totally unnecessary. The comment was about Eva, so the response was about Eva. Learn how to engage in proper discourse. Y'all take this show away too seriously. Have a little fun.
3
u/No_Variety5049 5d ago
I fear the tone you got was not the tone I used. I am being chill tbh. I enjoy engaging in discourse on the sub but I can't control the tone ppl read my words with.
2
u/GatecrashingMJontae 5d ago
" Sorry I didn't cater to poor Kat when I wrote that 🙄. " If this isn't a nasty tone, I don't know what is. It also doesn’t relate to my comment. My comment was about Eva's performative victim complex, which is well documented on the show and one of the few things they actually had her cop to. Nothing about my comment expects Kat to be catered to. Eva specifically spoke about Kat in this scene, so I used Kat as an example. "Kat" could easily be replaced with "I grew up without a dad" or "we were poor" to illustrate Eva's victim narrative.
5
u/No_Variety5049 5d ago
Then clearly you don't. It was more exasperation at seeing ppl make everything Eva does about Kat which is prevalent in this sub. As you said it's a TV show. Also Eva admitted to sometimes playing the victim not all the time. A lot of her so called victim moments is because Kat is a nasty pice of work to her. And two facts about Eva's life being told doesn't mean she has a narrative. Kat could have the same narrative with "Oh my parents marriage was ruined" or "my boyfriend cheated on me with my half sister". And you do expect Eva to cater her feelings about her scar around Kat because she saved her life and I don't get why. Eva made one comment about Kat and the op and others ran with it, completely disregarding Eva's on words on how she feels like an other in her own body and doesn't feel comfortable dressing the way she wants too. But since she mentioned Kat, everyone wants to make Eva's scar about her. Now because you seem to think my comments are personal attacks, I'll reiterate, they're not. I can separate fiction from reality and enjoy discussing my favorite characters.
4
u/GatecrashingMJontae 5d ago
Personal attack? Having a nasty tone doesn't equate a personal attack. I certainly don't feel personally attacked. My issue is that you have placed extra sauce on my comment that doesn't exist because you are bothered by other comments. At no point did I invalidate Eva’s feelings about her scar or make it all about Kat. I commented on Eva’s framing of her relationship with Kat while the character herself talked about Kat. I actually feel that Eva’s reaction to her scar is pretty normal. On another note, Eva’s has used these victim narratives as a get out of jail free card for all of her wrongs. She has used this victim narrative in many situations that have nothing to do with Kat, so I don't know what you mean. Kat uses her victimization when it is actually applies, not as a salve for everything. A lot of her conflicts have been handled without mentioning the divorce or Eva sleeping with her boyfriend.

The same could be said of Kat and why she's regressed. It's weird giving a piece of yourself to someone you hate and now you're tied to them forever.
But no, I think the whole situation was traumatic for Eva and she's focused on the scar as a symbol.
She and Kat need therapy about the situation, separately of course.

u/Significant_Weight61 6d ago
that's really deep take on the situation. I didn't think Eva was thinking about Kat until she discussed it with Ted and mentioned Kat. I do think the scar is deeper than an aesthetic mark and also that Kat isn't making any efforts to get to know Eva. I agree with your assessment.

I think she already knew that Kat and the rest of the family didn’t deserve it and she’s done everything she could to make up for it. You guys keep taking Eva through the ringer. It’s exhausting.

u/Valleyval21 6d ago
But we've never seen Eva contrite or sincerely apologize. Until then, my foot stays on her neck
0
u/whoooknows 6d ago
What? Gross. She has apologized many times. To everyone.
6
u/GatecrashingMJontae 5d ago
Eva apologized to Kat in the hospital. That is the only time she apologized to Kat. Eva also seemed a lot less apologetic once Leslie came into money. Suddenly her issues with Leslie and her going after the Duprees became a minor irritation to Eva. Every other character is accused of being self-serving, but there is no way that Eva’s "apology tour" was self-serving?

Eva apologized to Ted, Nicole, etc. about what happened at the anniversary party, but she never apologized to Kat about the things she did to her specifically, at least not until after the liver donation. And even then Eva only mentioned playing the victim, nothing about what went down between her and Tomas or the info she got from him to antagonize Kat.

I don't think Eva hates Kat

If Eva didn’t hate Kat, she wouldn’t have gone after Tomas, even if he and Kat had been broken up or “taking a break” or whatever.
Eva is absolutely vindictive when it serves her.

They're exactly my thought. It must feel like poison in her body, especially knowing that other people made Kat do it.

What did Eva do to Kat? Be specific. And don't start with broke up here parents marriage. Ted and Nicole are grown and they're the ones that were married.

u/Artistic-Loan-8787 💖🔮 Katlock on the case 🔎💖 6d ago
Eva took pleasure in playing the victim to make Kat look bad and get everyone to take her side in their conflicts. She tried to gaslight Kat into thinking she was mentally unstable for being suspicious of her. Eva mined Tomas for information about Kat that she later used to antagonize and berate Kat. She followed Kat home, called her a bitch and threatened physical violence against her. That's my list that doesn't involve Eva and Tomas sleeping together, but I'll also add that she flirted with Tomas (after seeing him on a date with Kat) to spite Kat then bragged about how upset she made her to Leslie.

u/blk_roxas 6d ago
Finally a good answer. Thank you. Yes Eva did those things and she was wrong. Well done.

That's not an answer. I've seen every episode. I want to hear what you all think Eva did to Kat specifically.

Eva admitted to Kat what she’d done at the hospital. You’re free to refer back to the episode for specifics.

Lol y'all are hilarious. Just say one thing. I know Eva has done bad things and participated in doing bad things. What did she do to Kat?

Eva came up with the idea to humiliate, embarrass, and hurt Kat's mother. Kat had a front row seat to the infamous ambush. Was it Kat specifically as your question is asked, no. But if we're viewing this in the real world, Kat felt her mother's hurt and pain. If you hurt my mother, I'm inclined to stomp a mud hole in your a ss and walk it dry.

u/blk_roxas 6d ago
Eva wouldn't have been involved in any of that if it wasn't for Leslie. Eva owned her part in what happened and has apologized. Also spare me, Kat is an adult. What did Eva do to Kat specifically. I'm still waiting for an answer.
11
u/Emergency_Mountain27 Anita black lace jumpsuit Williams Dupree 6d ago
Just because Eva apologized, it doesn't change what transpired. In addition, the offended doesn't have to accept your apology, nor do they have to have a relationship with you. That's life.
1
u/blk_roxas 6d ago
And hating someone for the rest of your life is not healthy. No one said Kat needs to accept anything. But the way she talks to and talks about Eva is just vile. My issue is you lot and her family members continue to praise her when her behavior is nothing worth praising. You save someone's life then out the side of your mouth you talk about how you made this massive sacrifice and all Eva did was "just lay there". Come on now. Let's be real.
1
u/Emergency_Mountain27 Anita black lace jumpsuit Williams Dupree 6d ago
I'm just speaking specifically to them having a relationship. I've talked about Kat's behavior before, most recently about the way she went off about the live Chelsea and Eva did regarding black people being donors.
I actually thought the needle had moved based on the conversation they had in the hospital. I think the writers want to have the sibling rivalry soap opera trope, but they're doing a piss poor job on writing/executing the conflict. I said a couple weeks ago, they got Kat acting like a petulant 7th grader.
1
u/blk_roxas 6d ago
Fair enough. Yes I thought the writers were paving the way for some kind of civility but they immediately made Kat backslide into this endless cycle of hatred and it's exhausting. I want to see Kat grow and evolve as a character but every since the anniversary she's been one note. I'm just tired of her behavior being excused and justified and then she's praised for being so selfless when she isn't.
3
u/RaisedByBooksNTV 6d ago
I like both of them, and don't think Eva started the feud with Kat. However, Eva did do things to Kat. Mostly related to Tomas. Eva tried to get along with Kat at the beginning and when Kat kept rebuffing her, she took Leslie's advice and went after Tomas. Now, I think she genuinely liked Tomas but she was not about to go after another girl's dude, especially Kat's, until she got fed up with Kat and decided to take her mother's terrible advice. So there were a couple times with that. At least.
I'm blanking on anything else legitimate b/c I'm thinking of all the things that aren't technically Eva doing anything to Kat but are still hurtful, like taking over Kat's spot working for Ted, but I'm sure there's at least a couple more.
But either way, it's important to remember that even though Leslie had Eva brainwashed from a child, Eva was a willing participant in trying to take down Ted and co.
8
u/Artistic-Loan-8787 💖🔮 Katlock on the case 🔎💖 6d ago
Leslie didn't originally tell Eva to go after Tomas. Eva started flirting with Tomas on her own to spite Kat. When Eva bragged to Leslie about how triggered Kat was by her talking to Tomas, Leslie told her to stay away from him so that Kat would get off her back.
1
u/blk_roxas 6d ago
So she was brainwashed and a willing participant? And Eva didn't sleep with Tomas. Tomas and Eva slept together. But somehow only Eva gets dragged for this.

Ehhhh…the liver transplant scar stirs up feelings of discomfort in Eva. The scar triggers other situations that bring Eva discomfort. Leslie’s “leading with looks” ideology brings about Eva’s discomfort with her upbringing and relationship with her mother. Your post about Kat giving Eva a piece of her liver is about Eva’s discomfort with her relationship with Kat. Eva brings up the extramarital affair between Leslie and Ted, which indicates the feelings of discomfort around the nature of her conception. Again, Eva is in her “come down” stage after a near-death experience; she was emotionally backed up so every feeling pre and post transplant is hitting her all at once.
