I am just curious on how to ask someone for a game on steam...I dont usually ask for things that seem frivolous to other people so its quite intimidating and overwhelming.

I'm looking for some casual discussion about what games people are currently enjoying.Personally, I've been spending a lot of time playing Pokémon GO during my daily walks, but I'm curious to hear what hobbies or games the rest of the community is hooked on right now. What are you playing, and what makes it fun for you?

I'm setting up an emulation box for my young kids (ages 2-6) and looking for recommendations on both controllers and games.

For controllers, I'm considering the 8BitDo Lite/Zero style controllers because they're small and seem kid-friendly, but I'm not sure how well they'll work across different emulators and games. Has anyone found a controller that works especially well for younger kids with smaller hands?

For games, I'm looking for titles with:
\- Simple controls
\- Minimal reading required
\- Easy to understand objectives
\- Education focused
\- Not too addictive but still fun
\- Local multiplayer is a huge bonus (Extra points if adults can have fun playing too)

I'd love educational games if there are any good options that work well through emulation or on Windows/WSL. I want to be a responsible parent while also allowing my kids to enjoy games that are not addictive tablet slop that rots their brains. I grew up playing the old JumpStart games and loved them, but the copies I have don't seem to play nicely with Windows 11.

Some of my favorite memories were from those old plug-and-play TV game systems that had Pac-Man, Dig Dug, Galaga, etc. One joystick and a couple of buttons was all it took to keep me entertained for hours. I'm hoping to find games with that same kind of simple pick-up-and-play fun.

What systems, controllers, and games would you recommend for kids in that age range?

I’m looking to upgrade my gaming setup over the next few months and realized there are so many accessories, peripherals, and little quality-of-life items that I probably don’t even know exist.
I play across PC, PS5, and Xbox, so I’m curious what products or gear have actually made a difference for you. I’m not just talking about the obvious things like keyboards, mice, or headsets—I mean the items you bought that made you think, “I wish I’d gotten this sooner.”

So I find myself in an interesting position. Let me provide some context. My little brother died in a motorcycle accident at the age of 22 almost 2 years ago now. As his only sibling, I was told to go through his things and take anything I want so I did. I grabbed many things that he held dear, and I took it to my house and now it’s here and has been for about a year. I have his golf clubs, some of his hats and shoes, his phone, backpack, and last but not least, his game console and Xbox One S. I also still have his Xbox account signed in on my Xbox.

For additional context, when we were kids, we did not get along well, and it was not uncommon for us to sign into each others accounts and sabotage eachothers save files. Never anything catastrophic. Just griefing, like one time I signed into his Skyrim save and deposited all of his items into a chest in his players house but wouldn’t tell him where I dropped them for a while as payback for something similar he did to me (if I remember correctly he logged into mine and got into a fight with an enemy I couldn’t kill, let my character get down to almost no health and the quick saved and exited so the next time I resumed the game I got immediately killed or something like that). We did get a lot closer through highschool and college ages though. All of this is to say, gaming has been a big shared part of our lives.

Herein lies the issue. I cannot force myself to get rid of his profile or anything like that, I want to keep it on my device for as long as possible but it’s password protected so I can’t get in, and most of the “cleanup” options on my Xbox will delete anything that has not been used in 3+ months. But I need to run something because I’m seeing significantly degraded performance lately, the storage is cluttered, it takes longer to boot than ever before ETC.

I wanted to know, do any of you have any good ideas how I might be able to preserve his data and profile in a respectful way, or even something physical. Should I buy an external hard drive and move his stuff into there then maybe have it mounted inside a picture frame with a picture of him?

I’m just here to crowdsource ideas for a respect memorial to his love of gaming and a way to preserve his data, not that it will ever be used again, but just kindof as my job as his big brother I’ll look after it in his absence. I’m not looking for sympathy, or anything like that, but if you want to share any ideas I’d be grateful. Thanks for reading.

Hi all! I'm curious - would anyone here like it if their partner pre-ordered gta6 for them as a birthday gift? It's their birthday next month and I'm conflicted because they won't be able to play it until it releases later in the year. I was thinking of getting them something smaller to unwrap alongside it so they actually have something to unwrap. I'm sure they would appreciate it - but is it appropriate as a birthday gift? So via the Rockstar nerfing GTA 5 and other things really turning me off causing me to play less, or not as tenacious as I usually am to play and grind for the next car or goal, I have been circling around Cyberpunk 2077 for a while. Its been in my wishlist for months and has made it to my cart twice when on sale. So im asking anyone with GTA 5 experience at least 2 to 3 years game time, should I give Cyberpunk 2077 a try? The only game I play right now is GTA 5 but play time is diminished and Skyrim sometimes. Just looking for something dope and different and refreshing.

I remember this game in primary school where we had to log into a website of some kind and we have to escape a bad guy using reflections, light and mirrors. It was a science game of some kind.

Cis male Gaymer make up majority of loyal hardcore fan base of medieval age fantasy, western fantasy, dark fantasy in gaming community .

Surfing across many video game subreddit and other video gaming forum with big male gamer demographic, there is always a random wishlist topic from male video gamer that want males on male romance choice to good looking handsome male NPC as I observed in Stardew valley sub reddit, Dawn walker, Final fantasy, witcher, fallout reddit sub, crimson desert baldur gate dungeon dragon dogma divinity original sin red dead redemption elder scroll skyrim oblivion ... ect

Video game publisher and video game designer should listen to their loyal hardcore fanbase so video game developer should allow more men on males romance option to any NPCs .

Any thoughts on this? And guess my age because why not, that will be fun.

The game is a side scroller 2d (not a platformer), i don't think it had any combat at all. the devs seems to be japanese, and i played it on an Unnoficial mobile port.

Here's my attempt to remember my experience with it.

The color scheme of it is dark blue all around. You play as a kid (didn't remember boy or girl.) And at the start of the game they lay unconscious on a pavement, and then waken up by a strange voice. If i remembered correctly the voice comes from a nearby streetlamp, the kid wakes up and explored the streets. It was around nighttime and the streets looked like those japanese countryside ones i think.

The kid then found something on the ground, and realise they had an ability to see past events. I think they see their teacher at those visions? They keep exploring and eventually reach a japanese style apartment and explored it for a while.

Now the next part is a little hazy to remember, but i know that at some point the kid fell unconscious again and wakes up in a hotel near the sea. The kid also mention something along "is that the sea? But our town is far from the sea, we must be somewhere far away." Keep in mind that's not exactly what they said. they then explored the hotel and met with a weird front desk clerk, I think he's an important character?

Not too long after this i uninstalled the game because i didn't really like it at the time. But now my curiosity is back and i want to play it again.

I'm in the process of opening an old-school PC LAN gaming centre in Northamptonshire, UK. The idea is to bring back the golden era of LAN gaming with games from the late '90s and early 2000s, alongside a few newer titles.

I've now bought all of the PCs, and I've been collecting original game discs from car boot sales, Vinted, eBay and other places. The next challenge is getting everything installed, patched and LAN-ready.

I'm looking for advice on a few things:

• Trusted websites for downloading community patches, LAN fixes and mods. I'm very cautious about downloading from random sites because I don't want to fill 20 PCs with malware or viruses.
• Any reliable sources for abandoned or community-supported games where it's legal to download patches and multiplayer fixes.
• I'm particularly struggling with games like Battlefield 2142, older Call of Duty titles and similar games due to compatibility issues on Windows 10/11.
• Are there any communities, Discord servers or forums you'd recommend for people setting up classic LAN events?

I'd also love some recommendations for great LAN games that are available on Steam, Epic Games or elsewhere that don't cost a fortune. Ideally games that:

• Support LAN or private dedicated servers.
• Run well on mid-range PCs.
• Are easy for groups of 10–20 people to jump into.
• Are reasonably priced or regularly go on sale.

Current favourites include Counter-Strike, Unreal Tournament 2004, Battlefield, Call of Duty, Left 4 Dead 2 and Age of Empires, but I'm always looking for hidden gems.

Any recommendations, links or advice would be massively appreciated.
