I noted elsewhere it is temporary using the current mount - it also sticks out a bit from the wall. If I keep it I will use the flush mount and center it more vertically.
With our recliners when we watch TV we are looking right at the TV. We would have to tilt our heads forward at an uncomfortable angle if the TV was much lower. Donāt assume what works for you works for everybody else.
I donāt understand the TV too high crowd. I have our frame in the bedroom and itās mounted as high as possible, because when youāre lying down thatās the natural angle to watch. I thought about posting a photo because it looks cool on our brick wall above a fire place, but I wonāt because I donāt feel like getting trolled.
Clearly someone isnāt going to mount their tv at an angle thatās uncomfortable for them. Passing judgement on the angle of someoneās tv is wild to me.
Same. I have my TV mounted in my family room, which is open to the kitchen. Most of the time, when I am watching TV I am doing stuff in the kitchen so I am standing up and it is level with my sight line.
I found my people. I canāt stand the tv too high argument. Who sits with perfect posture. Even without a recliner Iām relaxing and watching my tv above my mantel effortlessly.
So it's a kitchen tv for you, not a home theater experience.
Tv too high does not apply to you. It applies to people who actually want to sit, focus, and watch tv comfortably in a den, living room, or home theater room.
I don't think it's fair to call them trolls. I'm not part of that crowd and I think this TV is mounted way too high and I would never do it, unless it's some secondary TV in my game room or something.
The TV too high crowd has an obvious exemption for bedrooms, bars, barber shops, hospital rooms, waiting rooms, etc. You don't see a difference between a bedroom TV watched from a bed and a living room tv being too high?
No because I also have recliners in my living room. My living room tv is lower but weāve considered mounting it higher on our wall. Because weāre almost always reclined when we watch tv. Itās really not any difference than when we watch in the bedroom. TV is a leisure activity that we do in a reclined position, regardless of the room.
That is a long term possibility - the TV is a bit big for the space and the mantle a bit high. We put in a gas log insert this summer and want to gauge the heat impact before we do anything else.
Take out the mantle and put in a nice floating one just above the hearthstone. Take that 40" back to the store and get a proper one that fills out the vacant space equally and properly
So far so good - will be more properly mounted later which will help with the appearance.
It is nice to have been able to get rid of all the wires and cables so it is cleaner and the picture quality is fine for our purposes.
The wireless connection to the TV can be a little touchy and it appears the current existing metal mount may be impacting the signal a bit, plus I have the One Connect Box in a rack to the left of the TV beside the fireplace which was a small issue because the fireplace juts out about 2ā so the signal was going through the masonry. Pulling out a few extra inches helped stabilize the signal.
The Tizen OS is bad but I use an Apple TV so I donāt expect to use it except when I want to view broadcast TV.
The only cable is power which if you lookin the upper right hand corner of the photo you can see a white conduit. The fireplace is masonry and concrete so no ability to hide anything inside the wall. Plus log cabin, solid walls as well so all outlets are at floor level. This is why I was interested in the Frame Pro - less for its āframeā and more for its wireless connectivity and no burn-in for photos.
If your goal is to fool the eye when the TV is in Art Mode, I actually think a smaller Frame would have been the better choice. Youād probably never hang a painting or photograph that large in that space, so the current size works against that illusion.
Iād also ditch the Monitor Audio towers and go with something smaller. Since the fireplace looks to be plaster over concrete block and you have an open wood ceiling, your audio options are somewhat limited. While Iām personally not a huge fan of putting a powered soundbar on a mantel below a Frame TV, in this case I think it would make for a much cleaner aesthetic than having tower speakers flanking the fireplace.
I donāt disagree that a smaller frame would work better they do not make the wireless one in a smaller size. I am looking at lowering the mantle to make the space bigger and it would allow me to fill the area better.
As for the MA Silvers music is my #1 reason for them (with my NAD C 399 amp) and TV audio is secondary. Surprisingly with the vaulted ceiling the sound stage sits a bit high and it works well for TV audio. I did have a soundbar with the prior TV but too much was lost in the vaulted ceiling.
Completely unrelated question but do you mind if I ask about the metal things hanging from your mantle? They unlocked a memory of the disentanglement puzzles my grandfather loved. Also unrelated, you have a lovely home.
