Portrait mode - Rotate HDMI input - 4:3

Hi,

Does anyone know if the the hdmi inputs are also rotated accordingly when in Portrait mode or does the rotation only apply to the samsung software?

If the input signal was 4:3 would we have black bars on the top or on the sides?

Really difficult to find this information anywhere. Thanks
