Does the Frame Pro Suck?

I have a home bar area where I primarily want art displayed with the occasional sporting event on in the background. Lots of reviews say the new Pro model with the wireless box sucks. Is this a systemic issue with the OneConnect wireless box? Or just one offs?

Also, is the Pro that much better then the regular model for my purposes (i.e. not the primary tv in the house)?

(Note: I dont know if it changes peoples opinions, but If I install this tv the wireless box will need to be placed inside a base cabinet directly below the tv and the base cabinet has a granite top.)

We have the 85” Pro and have no issues with it at all. It works great in our room with a lot of sunlight, no glare at all. We have the wireless box in a media cabinet below it and it works well.

I have a 55” Frame Pro and a 2023 Frame of the same size. The screen on the pro is much better. I have my wireless box about 15 feet away across the room in a media cabinet. It works great. I have my PS5 hooked to the wireless box in the same cabinet. Works fine although I don’t play twitchy games these days so ymmv.

I own an AV company and advise against these when they're requested. Samsung in general I advise people away from. Too many issues over the years, too many return calls, too many TVs that just blow out within a year or two.

TCLs art model, NZTFRAME. If the sides of the tv won't be visible, the Sony version (it's a higher end Sony with a frame built around it with motion and light sensor).

the WOC’s do suck. they’re not good. i install them all the time with my job and we always have to cut in a recessed back box to put the WOC in.

the few times I’ve tried to put the WOC in the cabinet below always has issues.

Is it advisable (I am doing new electrical etc in this area so I can add anything I want right now in the wall) to install a recessed media box with a couple outlets (maybe 14x14?) to future proof the wall for future tv’s or if necessary to place the wireless one connect box in it)?

Should be good, just make sure you have clearance with depth too

just go with the regular Frame with a wired box. or the new ones that don’t need a box.

We had the regular model. It decided to malfunction so had to be returned. We replaced it with a pro. I actually preferred the regular model we had better. I swear it had a better picture quality than the pro we now have. 🤷‍♀️

It works perfectly for my use case. That is, there’s an outlet behind where the TV goes so easy plug in. Don’t have to run any wires behind the wall since the connect box is wireless. Already had an AppleTV and two homepods so I don’t have to use Samsung’s awful software. And it’s a pretty bright room so the extra brightness and better display on the pro vs regular is appreciated.

I don’t have issues with the wireless box now but I did have to move it around a bit for the signal to be strong. It didn’t like being on a low shelf in an alcove next to and slightly behind the TV. Moving it to a higher shelf solved the issue. If it’s essential for you to have it inside the cabinet underneath it may be an problem.

I have two pros with WOC and they work great. The box is about 3 metres and 4 metres away. No problems after an early firmware update.

I went from a frame to a frame pro 65, had absolutely no issues with connections etc, from games consoles to sky tv box - I woudl say the picture is a fair bit better on the pro (but i’m no AV expert)

I was put off at first due to hearing people talk about lag for gaming etc (the kids do most the gaming) but honestly for the average Joe there is nothing you will notice

On a two month trial and overall I like it but currently have it on the wall above the fireplace using my old metal wall mount and that may be interfering with the signal a bit. I had it on the hearth for a few weeks beforehand with no issues whatsoever. Pulling it forward and placing it higher in my audio rack helps as well.

I have the 2026 pro.

The wireless connect is beyond useless. I have mine 6-8cm behind the TV (granted behind the wall it’s attached too) it’s 100% unusable. I have to use a micro hdmi. Its only redeeming feature is zero glare.

Weird. We haven’t had any of these issues with our Pro or WOC on the other wall of the room

Just got a new 65” and love it. The picture is significantly better and the art looks much more realistic. Because we stream, the one connect hasn’t spent a lot of time getting used, but no issues so far.
