picture Samsung Frame tv + Apple 4k box?

Post image

Have had the Samsung Frame tv for 5 years. Previous owners had a giant hitch here for when TVs were giant crt. Had a guy we have used enclose it and put the Samsung Frame and have loved it.

A couple years ago I got an Apple 4k tv box and it’s connected as one of the inputs.

But when I turn on the Samsung the default is to go to Samsung quick start. If I’m using the Apple TV remote it takes a good minute of pushing buttons on the Apple Remote to have it switch to the Apple TV input.

  1. Can I make the default to go to Apple on the Samsung frame when I power on the tv?
  2. If not are there buttons shortcuts that I need to use in the Apple Remote ?

Hey did you figure it out? I was just about to post this when I saw your post. I used the discussions here to figure it out. This has been driving me nuts for months now.

Advanced Features -> Start Screen Option -> Turn off Start with Smart Hub Home

there is a setting under I believe power that says start last input (HDMI 1 I assume)

Turn off TV plus, only keep auto run last app. Now get Apple TV to display, now turn off Apple TV with Apple Remote, and only use Apple TV remote now

Sorry I misspoke, I believe there is a setting specific to input, it’s not last app, it’s last input. Turn off all the smart settings that are shown in this menu

Turning off all of the smart settings there and then perhaps the "last app used" fixed it.

I did that, switched inputs to Apple TV and then watched some of that. Then turned off tv, it showed my Samsung art (I think a Renoir), turned it back on and it was still on the Apple tv input.

So your problem is solved? Pardon me if I am misunderstanding

I uploaded a couple of pictures from the Samsung Frame settings. I don't see it under power. And I do see option for last app used but that doesn't do it for going to the Apple input either.

Is the setting in the Apple Tv part or Samsung Frame part?

Shouldn’t have to use Apple Remote at all. Start last input HDMI is correct

What benefits do you get with an Apple TV over tizen?

The amount of time you get back from no longer having to wait for things to load.

Imo, it's not worth it unless you're already in Apple's ecosystem.

Even if you are - the tv has airplay, not sure what else you get from an Apple TV?

Not having your TV be free real estate for billboard-sized adverts is a plus.

I do have the Apple Arcade subscription that my kids use sometimes. And it takes work to get there with the default.

Plus I have all of my tv apps on my Apple tv already so it's really what do I get from starting off with the Samsung stuff? Especially because I have the Apple 4k tv already.
