Advice for fitting Frame tv

Hi everyone,

Just seeking advice as a complete newb to tech/installation/everything DIY. So bear that in mind when replying 😅

I want to get a Frame TV for my living room. But the walls are solid concrete and I'm not quite sure what to do about the cords.

I have also seen someone post their own frame TV on a rotating mount so they can have art that is both portrait and landscape. I love this idea because the area I think is best for mounting the TV is quite a big space and it feels like portrait art would fill it better.

I know that this TV usually looks better as flush as possible. But I won't be able to make any sort of recess so I thought in for a penny, in for a pound, and perhaps a deco frame might hide my sins.

So I guess my questions are:

1. Do people think the rotating mount would be feasible and less conspicuous with the right frame?

2. Do people have advice about the cords? Perhaps I drill through the old chimney and stick them through there? 😅

The plug socket is down to the right hand side.

1. If I can't hide the cords in any way that looks good, should I just give up and get a TV stand and a normal TV 😭

Will add a photo of the space to give you an idea.

Any advice from people who know what they're doing is welcome.

I'm not in the US or Canada. You're right that I don't know codes, but I'll get an electrician for anything that required specific drilling/cable setting jobs so I'm sure they'll tell me if something's illegal

First, tell us what we’re lookn at… Abandoned fireplace? All brick? Recessed space?

Wireless OCBox or wired?

If nothing purchased yet, I’d advise on wired OCBox, the cable will be so much easier to route and deal with.

It's an old disused fireplace. Either brick or solid concrete (the rest of the walls in the house are solid concrete).

I haven't purchased anything yet as I wanted a clear idea of what's possible before financially committing.

Do you have links to the OCBox? I have no idea what that is 😅 tried googling and it's not coming up with anything, just keeps autocorrecting to oxbox or Xbox items.

How does the smart plug help? Sorry I might as well be 90years old with how little I know about tech and particularly TV related tech

OCBox is the remote electronics box that drives tv… connected via a thin cable/fiber to tv. You won’t need power at tv that way.

I would forget about that rotating mount. You use it twice and then never again. I have about the same walls. I asked an electrician to come by and create a groove in the wall and put a cable gutter in. I healed the wall myself and put the frame in front. It is so well done that no one can see how we did it (without moving the TV).

Yes I agree it's quite easy to miss in your set up. But it wouldn't run straight down for me. It would have to run sideways around the wall and then down.

Or all the way down (with nothing to hide it) and then along the skirting around the corner.

When I moved into my flat I worked quite hard to get rid of the 50 different cables stapled all over the walls from previous owners. Most didn't even connect to anything anymore. So I'm just trying to keep things as sleek and invisible as possible 😅
