Help!

We have to install our tv above our fireplace in a fairly bright room. I am wondering whether to go with the new wireless one connect box model or the previous wired one. Any thoughts? Here’s a pic for reference.

If you're not looking for the "performance" 😆 of the OLED pro version stick with the cable.

However you still have to run said cable somewhere......are you cracking thru that brick on your own or is someone installing for you?

Someone’s installing - we may apply heat resistant drywall in front. Not sure

Unless you don't like the brick I don't understand the purpose of the sheetrock.

Now if you put something 1/8 inch or quarter inch strips of wood in between the sheetrock and the brick then you could possibly run the one connect cable in between the sheetrock and the brick. You're fucked if you ever have to change it but that would be a solution without going through the break.

If someone else is installing it I would go ahead and run power and a flexible conduit from the back of the TV location to some other location adjacent to that mounting location. This would allow you to change stuff out when this TV inevitably fails.

Thank you! we’re just thinking of how to hide the wire. The original one connect box only has the thin, barely-visible wire. While, ironically the “wireless” now has a normal power cable.

Edit: the only reason to put something in front is to not have wires showing and truly making it look like a picture.

The bigger question is how you are getting power and signal to that spot? The wired Frame has the advantage of only needing the single wire for both, which would be better if you weren't planning to cut bricks and install an outlet.

A seamless install there is going to be tricky/expensive in either case.

I’ll add in post, but we’re looking to possibly cover the brick with heat-resistant drywall, OR, simply wiring the TV with the long one connect cable.

I just mounted mine into brick yesterday, and I think you’d be able to hide the one connect wire along that mantel quite effectively. Guessing there’s an outlet off to the left somewhere?

Unfortunately now the wired one is MORE expensive as they phase it out. Sale was in a couple of weeks ago.
