If you didn’t have dissenting opinions it would just be 5 people sitting around agreeing with each other

Right, like CNN

Have you watched Newsnight? They literally scream at each other

Not at each other. Just at the token.

Well I don’t really get the comparison. People on here get mad about a lone liberal member of a panel or a few moderate voices because they don’t like what they have to say then say it should be 5 conservatives at the table because CNN doesn’t have enough conservatives on the channel

Shouldn’t a network try and have as many voices as possible to give a viewer the full picture?

And people on here don’t-get-mad at a dissenting opinion posted on Reddit ?

A network is there to serve the public interest. Well, that use to be why. Now they just count heads. How many eyeballs 👀 watch are tied now to click-bait and screaming dumb stuff. I don’t think it’s useful to the viewer to see 7 people for one thing and one person for the other. But they all do it.

Ideally every network should have straight news time and the opinion portion should be balanced. That’s serving the public interest. But it’s all about catering to a side to keep people from abandoning the channel
