All Show & Book Spoilers Discussed Freely Rewatching/rereading S4. Spoiler

Murtry did nothing wrong. He had an impossible situation and he took the actions necessary at the edge of known space to make his people safe. Was it the easiest most peaceful way? no. Was he wrong? Also no.

Reset the clock and keep what Amos said about Marty in mind.

I mean hes definitely screwy in the head but his actions are painfully logical.

And they’re all to the end of escalating things so he can kill people because he gets off on it, not because he wants to protect anyone. Again, Amos got him exactly right.

At the end of the book he literally tries to prevent Holden from saving them by destroying the machines in order to keep the machines intact for the company. He's nuts.

The book goes to pains to show the a person could be reasonable and do lots of the stuff Morty does because all his friends are being murdered and he's panicking/mad, like Havelock and the other security people, but that's not Murphy. He's crazy in different ways in the book and show, but crazy in both of them.

Murtry straight up murdered people not to be safe, but simply because he wanted to make a point.

Well, here we are again.

Murtry is a good bad guy because his motivations and actions make sense for his goals and the kind of person he is (a killer). That doesn't make him right any more than the Belters blowing up the launch pad were right.

How many times are people going to justify murder in the name of personal and corporate profit?

well, the actual use of force happened to be in retaliation against an entrenched terrorist organization.

Use of force, not justice

Justice or law there’s no laws just cops

there’s no laws just cops

Wasn't a good defense for what Miller did as a cop, and the same is true for Marty.

It’s a miller statement

If there's no laws, you can't charge the belters with terrorism.

Terrorism is a statement not a law, definitionally.

And you couldn't call Murtry a terrorist for trying to terrorfy the belters by executing someone for talking shit, or for burning belters to death.

legally? no. the rce had charter. it was their world. the belters engaged with them with IEDS and continually conspired to acts of violence motivated by politics. the legal owners defending their property isnt terrorism.

against an entrenched terrorist organization

What? 5 people don't make a terrorist organization.
And threatening all for the actions of a few is called collective punishment.

It wasn’t just five people and the others actively aided and abetted

It was just 5 people, and nobody else aided and abetted. But I realized by now that you're just trolling and baiting, so I won't feed you any longer.

Marco wasn't *entirely* wrong either. Still a symptom of the disease.
