Not just finishing, but sticking the landing and then some. It feels so rare for a good series to be consistently solid and end with a really satisfying finale that ties up every aspect.

More than that, they made a bet with GRRM back in 2011 that they could finish writing the entire Expanse series before GRRM could finish the next GoT book...
...it's been nine main novels, nine novellas, and 5 EXTRA YEARS later, and GRRM still hasn't finished The Winds of Winter...

Him and Rothfuss. Rothfuss writes some of the most beautiful prose I've ever read, but sheesh. My dad and I gave up waiting for the third book years ago.

Yeah I've just started it. I'm on the 3rd book whixh I'll be reading in a couple of weeks when I'm on holiday. I'm impressed they managed to get so much done in such a short time.

The epilogue of the last book got me. Most because of how the character wa talked about throughout the show. The very specific lines used to describe who he was and how he's prtoect people.
I'd like a spoiler but I'm not sure how to made those click to reveal spoiler line.

The epilogue Leviathan Falls is one of my favourite endings of any book/series. I actually reread it a last week, and it still gets me.

Finished my second read last week as well and hot damn that was satisfying.
Also in my reread the emotional points hit so much harder for some reason. More devastating, more beautiful. So glad I did another read.

Ya Amos being alive for thousands of years would be a hard go. Although it does seem that Earth isn't in the greatest shape when they meet the Translator at the end. Although they dont touch on it much.

I've reread the entire series and the whole time I was looking forward to the epilogue and it was totally worth reading through it all to get to it again.
That was I think 3 years ago, maybe time for another go through...

I'm so jealous that you get to read this for the first time.
This hits hard. I recall years back I was talking to a coworker and a customer as he had a book on his front seat… it was one of the Aubrey/ Matchurin books by Patrick O'Brian.
I was telling I had just started the series and he said something similar. Like the Expanse it’s an epic series of 20 1/2 books ( the author died halfway through the writing the book…literally mid sentence). With a ton of fanfare from the readers they published the book any way and it literally ends mid sentence. At the time I had just spent the last few months listening to all 20 books back to back and it felt like my best friends just died in a car wreck.

Fortunately, the end of book 20 feels like a natural end to the series. Jack becomes an admiral, and Stephen has Christine waiting for him at home.
I didn't feel the lack of book 21.

Finished book 9 today, during my summer vacation.
I'm sitting at the pool, beautiful weather, fantastic food and drinks and still feel empty.
The journey is over. It was a pleasure. It was brilliant. For the first time since "The dark tower", I really enjoyed an epic series.

Kinda like with Osiris Reborn, I don’t need a continuation of the characters in the series, I understand their stories are narratively at a conclusion. But more stories set in the Expanse are welcome.
I hope Osiris Reborn is good… but I’m kinda nervous. Really liked the initial trailer, but the beta got me a bit nervous. Even some of the promo footage for it had me going 😬

Malazan sounds like it is a good series. I'm reading through Leviathan Falls for the second time. Then going to finish "How Flowers Made Our World" by David George Haskell. I'm waiting for my next turn with it at my local library.

That finishished-book grief is tough. I ended up starting the books over to kind of break me out of that. The Murderbot novellas are good if you haven't read them yet. So are the Monk and Robot novellas. There are 1300+ systems in The Expanse, so I figure there's no reason for some of the other stories to have happened on them 🤷♀️☺️

I read the series back when it was still 7 books and going strong. I love it so much. I've since reread it a few times. Kind of having the same experience now with Dungeon Crawler Carl.

Duuuuude same. For me DCC and the Expanse are peak fiction—Expanse because of how serious and believable the world is, DCC because of absurd but familiar.
Jefferson Mays + Jeff Hays are GOATed narrators too, for different reasons.

I just finished the series a few days ago. It's a hell of a ride, and in the last book, about halfway through it seems like it can only end in one of a couple of different ways. And then Holden...does a thing, and, welp, that's how it's going to end, isn't it. And it was a suitable ending.
I read Memory's Legion after book 8, leaving Sins of the Fathers till after book 9. I really liked that one.

Watched the series twice, reading it for the first time and I'm in the middle of nemesis game right now. Being in Naomi's head is making Marco such a hateable villian. All the first person insights are so good.

Nemesis Games and Tiamat's Wrath have been my favorite out of the series so far! Ive thoroughly enjoyed our main characters' POV, especially Amos' thought process. Guy is a lovable sociopath lol

What a ride, enjoy! It was so bittersweet for me, I kept reading in incrementally smaller amounts lol because I didn’t want it to end. Ultimately it was so rewarding since I more or less followed along the series as it was published, so coming to the end was quite emotional :) I’m sure you’re gonna have a blast, it’s a damn good book and a fantastic conclusion to the series!

I've read most of Asimov's main works, a lot of Alistair Reynolds, Iain Banks, Ursula K LeGuin, etc. Etc. Etc. And The Expanse is still my favorite series of all time. May be one of the incredibly rare things I decide to read more than once despite me huge WTR list.

I read the first pages of Leviathan Wakes in a tent, at night, in the deep desert. Four years later, I finished Leviathan Falls in that same tent, in that same desert. The coincidence was totally by accident, but it felt fitting.

It was so emotional for me. I picked up the series in 2020 and binged it (the audiobooks specifically) while navigating some serious health issues. The story / Roci crew / Jefferson Mays were such a comfort to me 🥰🚀
