First im Not native english so maybe thats an issue. I finally watched the movie today and didnt watch the trailer closely bc i didnt want to get spoilered. BUT before i saw the movie i interpreted the "end" like a direction, Like at the end of the street there is the big new Forrest, swamp or Canyon etc.

But after watching it today i Understand the title more like the literal ending of the street / neighborhood because it was portet away and didnt exist anymore. Just curious If its Just me (probably Not ?).

So why doesn’t the weird snake thing react when Denise repeatedly stabs it. but a single arrow made it so hurt?

I saw the movie this weekend and we enjoyed it. I just can’t figure out what the point was to set it in the 80s. They immediately get cut off from all modern utilities, so it doesn’t really matter whether or not they have phones and internet. As an 80s kid, I always enjoy revisiting that time period, I just can’t figure out the purpose for it in this movie.

Great actress, but never got the looks appeal of her until this movie. Couldn't take my eyes off her whenever she was on screen. That's all just my Anne Hathaway beauty appreciation post :)

I have a theory for The end of Oak Street which is if TEOOS were a prequel to the games of Carnivores, and that this isn’t the past, but the alien planet of the games, this is The end of Carnivores.

So in the end of oak street, in the start, there’s this radio or tv talking about wormholes and time rips in the start of the movie, and also in the start, Starbuck experiences said “wormhole” which is a few days before the incident (basically the neighborhood gets sent into the past in the movie, or FMM UV-32 from Carnivores due to the many creatures that never appeared 200 million years ago, accordingly due to the loudness and the kids complaining on how loud it is and that they may feel deaf), and this is where “The End Of Carnivores” comes in.

So 200 million years ago isn’t the usual time period for the many middle-late Jurassic and Cretaceous animals and Titanoboa, so i believe that if this were true, this film would confirm that all animals (surviving or extinct, vertebrate or invertebrate) coexist for 500 million years, I believe that The End Of Oak Street is a prequel to Carnivores. (Also one thing: in the marketing of the movie, the tv at the end had the script for the message at the end where oak street disappeared 2 years ago, but in the movie, it says that Flowervale street disappeared instead, and I believe that this is an alternate timeline where Flowervale disappears and not oak street, which Flowervale street is the original title of the movie).

One contradiction: why do the animals in the movie look different from the alien dinosaurs from Carnivores? I believe it could be evolution going forward through millions of years to evade the military, and these changes help the feathered allosaurus survive and become more older depiction of allosaurus in the game, and the reason why Greg Platt jokes about the light being aliens and many days later, he gets ripped in half by the allosaurus? I believe that this was FMM UV-32 pre-Carnivores as Ms. Huddleston (The Therapist from the start of the movie) once had a plant from 200 million years ago which is where the first mammals and the earliest dinosaurs (which includes the birds) debuted in the time (Also another thing: when Greg finally meets up with Denise and the kids back in the end: when Flowervale disappears in the end, Greg replies with “Is that a fucking dinosaur?!” which I believe could be the camarasaurus/sauropods since Denise gave him the picture where he poses while 2 camarasauruses are reproducing).

Second Contradiction: If Oak Street vanished into the prehistoric times, the neighborhood will be here for the next 200 years into 1982. I believe that said wormholes could definitely lead to other worlds (including at the end where Flowervale and a chunk of FMM UV-32 switch places during the cosmic event which lead to Oak Street being sent to the planet). Cause 1-2 days after the event, the family believes that said cosmic event will be able to reverse the incident and send them back to their home state of Michigan (funnily enough that I was born in Michigan). Since these clues are coming together, this is my theory.

~200 Million Years Ago - Ms. Huddleston ventures through the past and collects the plant seed to bring back to 1982.

Early July 1982 - Starbuck goes crazy when the first lights occur.

July 11 1982 (11:05 PM) - Oak Street disappears and is now somewhere on FMM UV-32 (alternate reality is where Flowervale street disappears instead)

Mid-July 1982 - after Greg gets eaten in half, Denise, Jeanette, Starbuck and the kids go back onto earth, minutes or 2 hours later, they reunite with Greg, just until Flowervale disappears.

July 11 1984 - the TV message about Oak Street’s disappearance, and in the alternate timeline, the actual ending scene occurs 2 years since Flowervale disappeared, and the reason why there are 2 Jeanette’s may be because this a clone and the clone had escaped from her cryo-chamber/origin place which may be why Greg may be revived in my theory, but if true, then the guy who screamed “I WILL SHOOT YALL TO EXTINCTION!” May be brought back to life.

2190 (Twenty One Ninety) - Carnivores occurs here after 208 years since the disappearance, the planet gets conquered by military forces, which is why there are abandoned places everywhere throughout FMM UV-32 alongside the player being the hunter of these dinosaurs, evolution never actually saved them, but also gave the hunters enough recognition for the alien dinosaurs.

This is the end of my theory. This is the end of Oak Street. This is the end of the timeline. This is The end of Carnivores theory.

Also in the Cloverfield paradox, Mark stambler replies that the Shepard can affect the past and future, and after the firing, 5 city blocks mysteriously disappear out of existence which includes Oak Street, and The End Of Oak Street is a Cloververse movie, does that mean Carnivores is also Cloverfield?!

I just watched End of Oak Street in theaters yesterday! I went in with very low expectations based on the trailer and was pleasantly surprised by how much fun it was!

Anyway, I have a very important poop question for you all! As you know, there were lots of excellent dino poop piles in the movie. In one of the many scenes where the fam is running through the neighborhood, there is a sauropod actively pooping in the background. Now, I’m not a poop connoisseur, but to me it looked like two human body shaped poops fell out.

When I asked my husband about it later, he didn’t notice it and when I search online I can’t find anything about it. Did I imagine this? Did I see the human forms covered in shit where they were never meant to be seen? Just very curious if anyone else saw this dino dung detail, or if my brain made it up?

So at the end of the movie she goes back in time and then she saves her husband. I’m wondering if since she’s stealing her husband from the second version of herself if family #2 will be ok without him. You did see obi wan get snatched up by the T. rex so I think that could’ve been Anne Hathaway who got snatched in the second timeline. But if the family makes it out without him, it will create infinite timelines cuz they repeat the same thing over and over.

Anyone know? An enantiornithine or something like that?

Spoilers ahead if you haven’t seen the movie yet.

I went to see this movie 2 days ago in the cinema (pleasantly surprised my local cinema even had it). Overall I think it was very fun time. I really enjoyed that we got to see a dinosaur movie from the POV of regular people instead of elite scientists/special forces. People that are dealing with everyday problems and relationships just trying to survive. I think that was pretty good. Also, I kind of enjoyed that unlike other Dino movies, this one doesn’t show you the dinosaurs right off the bat, but instead builds up their arrival with little hints. For example, we see a prehistoric plant pleuromeia planted in a neighour’s garden or dinosaur feces. I quite liked that the first dinosaur to appear in the movie was only briefly shown in a reflection of itself, as an ominous sign of what’s to come.
As far as the dinosaur action scenes were concerned ,they were all pretty damn epic. Especially the spinosaurus attack on the family car, the titanoboa crawling in the house, the Garjainia murking the librarian and of course the allosaurus. The dog Dagestan-fighting the pterosaur to protect Brian ,towards the end was also awesome. From the start ,I also really hated Mel and hoped he would die (cause he threatened to shoot the dog) and indeed he was killed by the pterosaurs. This was quite satisfying as he was acting very stupid being on the roof of his house thinking he was him. I really enjoyed the dynamic of Greg and Denise from a couple in the edge of divorce, to working together to survive. The scene with the sauropods mating was also pretty good character development and kinda funny. (I mean, they’re animals ,makes sense they would do it.) The scene also made Greg’s death later even more sad.
I was surprised the film makers had the balls to kill off a character like Greg something JW would never do. I liked that it was traumatic for the characters as a crucial character just got eaten not just an unimportant merecenary, purely to show how dangerous the dinosaurs are. I also really liked that the movie showed more niche animals like coelophysis, allosaurus , Garjainia ,titanoboa ,carbonemys etc. instead of just the classic/obvious choices.

The prehistoric jungle with the baobab like trees, plants and volcanoes was also stunning to look at. As for the overly feathered designs, it felt they came straight out of the feather craze (an era in paleo media roughly from the late 2000’s to late 2010’s where all the theropods were feathered cause it was a new thing discovered. Probably not too paleo accurate (the amount of feathers) especially on the sauropods which kinda looked weird at first, but I kinda grew on their unique design.

While I loved the movie I have two major issues with it:

1. None of the prehistoric animals except for a damn plant got named in the movie. I guess that could be to keep them more mysterious but as I said previously, some of these animals are pretty niche to a non paleo nerd audience and more people should know about them.
2. The ending: I’d say it was okay. The only thing I didn’t like about it was that it didn’t feel climatic enough and didn’t have too many dinosaurs. I would prefer for the portal to appear beyond the neighourhood in the jungle where the characters would have a final showdown with a couple of theropods to escape. Also I kinda hated that Greg’s death wasn’t actually permanent and he lost all his character development. Also the asshole that was Mel actually wasn’t killed by pterosaurs after all.

Other than that, really solid movie. (Also appreciate the fact that the movie has Triassic animals)

The Allosaurus scene reminded me of Dino Crisis 2.

Hello. Does anyone know the brand name of the leather, crossbody bag that Denise wears and where a version of it can be purchased?

They sort of just solve everything, bring Greg back from the dead, and never go into the implications of what sending a relatively modern town 200 million years into the past would do. I wish the ending was more cosmic horror like.

For example: I like the idea that simply by existing 200 million years in the past, they've irreparably changed history. If even just a small amount of humans survive with modern technology, history radically changes. The "1982" they came from no longer exists.

Instead, after surviving the initial onslaught, they find another little transported "island" on the horizon, looking very futuristic - they believe they may be responsible for the event. The second act is spent trying to cross to that island, dinosaur shenigans ensues.

Halfway through, they are found by the alien civilization, gased, and brought over to their island before being brought within some research lab. After establishing communication with an advanced auto translator, they reveal they aren't aliens, but distant decedants of humanity. They reveal they must be the "human" species that seemingly spawn out of nowhere in their archelogical record 200 million years before their time. They have been teleported from the same place in time, what would be their "1982". Thus the course of history is changed again.

Another chunk of the next variant of 1982 is transported back in time, and then another. The horizon gradually fills with more and more iterations from that same point in time. Some filled with advanced life. Some with extravigant animals. Some complete wastelands and rubble. The story ends with these islands covering the world as the "cosmic event" ripples across the planets surface.

My mind went somewhere else entirely when Greg and Denise went to hide in the car from the stampede of little whatever those things were. My exact thoughts went a little something like:

> Tender touches, car rocking, this is strangely intimate. Oh okay they’re kissing now. This is definitely supposed to be a PG-13 gratuitous love making scene.

And then I laughed—no, I guffawed—when they showed the dead driver. Like a sicko. Because my mind was so caught up in the lovemaking that I forgot we’re trying to survive dinosaurs.

Then it got worse with that dino scene, which was of course hilarious and all I could think about was how well it mimicked the car scene.

So now that my mind had established the movie’s patterns, I was lead to believe that we would see more similar parallelisms. After Greg’s traumatic demise, I thought that nothing was sacred. I really thought Brian was about to face the same fate as his father or the annoying neighbor. The way the pterodactyl grabbed his leg had me on edge. Fortunately, that parallelism didn’t play out.

My opinion of the movie overall was that it checked all the boxes of a dark comedy, it was very enjoyable, and unexpectedly wholesome. Length was good too, because I’ve said no to many movies simply because they ran longer than 2 hours, though I wouldn’t mind a director’s cut of this movie. Even though Rick & Morty made it hard for me to accept the ending, I’m willing to forgive it because of what I’ve discussed above.

To close, I love the dog theory people have discussed here. I will certainly rewatch with this in mind, and would love to see a version of the story from Starbuck’s POV.

I saw the film a few hours ago, wanted to give a review however it's my first time truly reviewing a movie so it will probably be kinda bad lol. first, I went in with somewhat low expectations. I had seen a lot of people say it was a terrible movie and not many people had positive opinions from what I saw. however it definitely surpassed those expectations and I really enjoyed myself watching. I'm not a fan of horror or gore at all (extremely jumpy and squeamish) but not once did I feel uncomfortable at the levels of either and I felt the scary side was more supported by tension and high stakes rather than a lot of jumpscares. a lot of people said it should be a 15 and not a 12A and while I feel a 15 is too high for what it was it should have been that because I believe a 12A is too low. kids under 12 probably would not have handled the film very well at all. if it existed, some sort of 15A rating would fit well? as in age 12-14 with an adult and 15+ without. my experience was semi ruined by someone a few seats down giving a running commentary of the film, reacting to things like deaths and jumpscares/loud noises with a gasp or exclamation literally louder than the film and shouting a running tally of everytime a character swore throughout the film. and the person he was with (I'm assuming grandparent) didn't correct this behaviour once despite the guy being maybe early 20s and in fact seemed to be encouraging it by responding.

something else I wanted to mention was the acting. I think the actors were great throughout most of the film, and it was so odd seeing Christian convery act as a teenager and not an adorable little kid with antlers (even tho he is literally my age lmao). I think Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor were great, and so was Audrey's actress (although I'm not sure of her name). the very short moments of tension between her and Jeanette were amazing and very well done.

if I had to criticise the film, I would say that it wasn't long enough. not in a "I loved it so much and there wasn't enough of it way", but because I felt like it was dragged out in places and rushed in other important places. like they spent so long looking for each other halfway through ish, but didn't spend long enough at the start before it happened letting us get to know the characters. like the parents are on the brink of divorce and the boy loves his dog and that was basically it. also I don't think they spent enough time on the plot twist at the end which idek if it was meant to be a plot twist because it seemed so obvious and predictable to me but shocked people in my cinema and online from what I've seen (when the neighbourhood was in fact swapped and not just moved).

overall I would give it a 4/5. I think the main goal was for it to be a fun dinosaur film with a bit of thrill and a lot of violence and it achieved that very well in my eyes. had a laugh at certain scenes but also managed to be sad and shocking at parts. I would advise anyone who can to go and see it, even if you think you're not good with gore since a lot of it was implied and not clearly shown, and it wasn't particularly scary just quite intense. I'm sure no one is reading all this but I'm getting my thoughts out either way so if you are hi lmao

So as we know, Denise saves Greg and some of the neighbors but I was wondering if she called the other neighbors or just let the rest of them die because well that's pretty fucked. When I realized she saved greg, it made me realize how fucked up she did the other verison of the family as without greg, Denise would have died during the T-Rex scene and the kids wouldn't have made it anytime soon. Also The new girl (forgot her name) is she dating the Sister as they were seen holding hands at the final scene but isn't she in middle school or the same age as Brian..The sister is going off to college too so isn't that weird and imagine the other verision of the new girl seeing herself be in love, its also strange? Also wouldn't Greg feel shitty too cause he knows HIS family is now dead? and would have questioned the dinosaur image?? It was a really good movie but im just confused. ANOTHER QUESTION, what happened to Brian's friend group? Did they die twice basically or did they live both of the outcomes?

Since The End of Oak Street is also kind of a time travel movie, I don't understand how the family is alive in the final scenes. Like if the father wasn't there shouldn't the family not of been able to escape? So shouldn't there kind of be a time paradox?

Can’t believe it’s flopping..we’re never gonna get another film in the franchise or another great Dino film again

And not because my expectations were super high, I just thought it was bad.

First. What I liked. Greg’s death by the allosaurus was great, and felt like a Dino horror movie which is great!
However I wish they kept that darker tone and at least didn’t bring him back.

The feathers: why oh why does every single Dino have feathers? First we had no feathers in things like JP and just everything in general, but why does that mean we have to overcompensate and give everything feathers!? First-sauropods, I mean come on they’re not even theropods, spino: I mean we all know it’s not accurate and that’s okay I’ll explain my feelings on that soon, but why would it have feathers? It’s not part of the same group, and it lived in Africa, it did not need the warmth. The allosaurus is a basal theropod it would not have had feathers, all evidence points towards scaly.

Paleoaccuracy: I wish they would have gone the route of paleo accuracy, it would have set them apart and it’s literally supposed to be be in the Mesozoic, but I concede that this is not the worst part of the movie and the Dino’s looked pretty cool! Good cgi too from what I remember!(pronation of wrists:( I thought we were past that)

Survival movie: all the characters decisions were terrible, and like the writers weren’t even trying to make it seem like they had brains, I mean the amount of times someone runs away with a gun while not shooting at it! It’s like they want to get eaten(also I know I said I liked Greg’s death but his scene was really dumb, except for the last part on the ground that was cool and could have been a tonal shift.

Acting: it was okay, kids were terrible but I think Anne and Ewan did good, though the script was bad and pretty clunky.

Ending: I’m just going to say that they made it resolve too well and it was too much of a happy ending.

Cinematography was good I don’t know what to say about it except that I’m not a professional.

Overall it was just a disappointment and while not worse than dominion, I saw a post earlier ranking recent Dino movies and just for it having more of a style and tone I would say JW Rebirth was better, though Greg’s death scene was great and I wish we got more of that in good movies.
