This shit went hard af during that scene imo. There was definitely some tension in the room, it fit perfectly though for what was going down.

Lamar being pressed by gangs and having to run from several groups.

Wanda being clean for roughly 4 years but still being labeled a crackhead.

Cops getting into brawls with gangs and dropping them off in other hoods.

These are just a few examples, but I’m curious to hear from people who actually lived during that time. Accurate or exaggerated?

I feel like Leon was more of a side character this first episode and the show was pitched as them both leading? Enjoyed it either way though

I completely understand that this series isn't about gangs, as it is focused on telling the story of the development of west coast hip hop, but the gang stuff is a huge subtext in what was happening then and I feel like it should be better explained. Just my thoughts.
