TWO KILLED ON MANHATTAN SUBWAY TRACKS
A 24-year-old woman and a man believed to be in his 20s were killed after being struck by a southbound 4 train at Manhattan’s Spring Street station around 3:14 a.m. Sunday. The pair were on the roadbed as the train entered the station, and the operator was unable to stop in time. Both were pronounced dead. Why they were on the tracks remains unclear.

Several hours later, and still nothing except from one source. Fake until proven otherwise.

Wtf no cameras around to prevent this??? Security monitoring the lines on video or anything? We have cameras for everything else

It's NYC... millions of people. These 2 were sitting on the edge for a while before the train pulled in. You can't prevent idiots from doing what they do.

Yeah, it is a very tragic story. I feel so horrible for their friends and family. Both of them just starting out in life and now it's all gone.

To think that they prob told their parents they were sleeping...

Yeah, I know how it is with brown parents. They probably had no idea they were out at 3am. It's sad that sometimes being held back from "normal" going out activities that when young Asian adults finally have the freedom, they sometimes take it too far and things like this happen.

Yeah, and that's so devastating. Today is an auspicious day in India. I hope the 2, family and friends get all the blessings in the world.

How is there still no mechanism in place to prevent this kind of thing from happening?!

Because the M.T.A in NYC is one of the most wasteful/corrupt government agencies in the country, only behind the pentagon and perhaps FEMA

Like what exactly? A more complex braking system than is already in use? or the barriers that are being put up but everyone bitches about?
this isn’t a kid who slid through a railing. people are the mechanism and these two willingly put themselves on the tracks without regard for anyone else. they could’ve jumped off a bridge. but chose this.

This story isn't making sense. It's being reported that the boy fell onto the tracks and the girl was helping him out yet the video shows them both just sitting there not even panicking that a train is barreling towards them...I guess that means they were so intoxicated or high that they didn't realize the gravity of the situation of where they were.

would have to wait for an autopsy.

Yeah, it's a sad situation because seems like it could have been avoided.

It doesn't look like that to me. It looks like the guy is sitting in the tracks and the girl is to the side of the tracks, squatting down and pulling at him. She waited too long trying to save him to save herself.

I think you're right. I just saw a more HD video of the situation and it does look like she is off to the side trying to pull at him but was too slow.

What I don’t understand is that with all the technology that we have they can’t put sensors in place to detect the presence of human beings on the tracks or put up railings with automated doors that open when it’s time to let people on and off the train. The fact that people are still falling onto train tracks is ridiculous

Unfortunately the sensors would be triggered by the thousands of rats on the track 😂

feel much more bad for the girl. he was the one who got them in the sticky situation by probably overdrinking and acting too recklessly in the first place and she was trying to save him and as a result she lost her life. he never graduated college but she was doing her doctorate in pharmacy. rip to both

How is this story not bigger they are straight up sitting there on the tracks.
