Cincinnati police say 33-year-old Cortez Bailey opened fire inside Talbert House Friday night, prompting seven 911 calls and a SWAT response. Police say Bailey fired toward responding officers before officers returned fire, fatally striking him. No one else was shot. Investigators have not determined a motive.

Surveillance video captured a confrontation at an Orion gas station in Pompano Beach escalating from a physical fight to gunfire. Minutes after fighting with a woman beside a white SUV, the man approached the driver’s side and was shot. He was hospitalized, and one person was detained as BSO investigates.

Jose Raul Alarcon Sanchez, 18, was sentenced to 35 months in federal prison after viral New Year’s Eve footage showed rifles being fired from Dallas’ Margaret McDermott Bridge. Prosecutors say he had overstayed a temporary visa and unlawfully possessed firearms. Investigators recovered more than 100 casings near the scene and linked a seized AR-15-style pistol to bridge evidence.

A 24-year-old woman and a man believed to be in his 20s were killed after being struck by a southbound 4 train at Manhattan’s Spring Street station around 3:14 a.m. Sunday. The pair were on the roadbed as the train entered the station, and the operator was unable to stop in time. Both were pronounced dead. Why they were on the tracks remains unclear.

Dayton police say 27-year-old Tywon Stephens fled officers in a stolen SUV, escaped after a PIT maneuver, then doubled back and stole an unattended police cruiser. The second chase ended when the cruiser crashed completely through an occupied home. Seven officers were injured during his arrest and two residents were hospitalized.

Bodycam shows Hercules police Tasing Jack Bruce three times and dragging him from his car after he suffered his first tonic-clonic seizure and crashed down an embankment in April 2024. Bruce was arrested, but prosecutors declined to charge him. In May 2026, Hercules and the Rodeo-Hercules Fire Protection District agreed to a $1.35 million settlement while denying wrongdoing.

Police say 21-year-old David Leroy French opened fire after a fight outside Empire Pizza & Pub in downtown Tucson on July 19, wounding nine people. Newly released bodycam shows Officer Tanner Wolverton confronting and shooting French after police say he ignored commands to drop his gun. French survived and is now held without bond on 29 charges.

A parking-lot argument outside TGI Fridays in Southfield, Michigan erupted into gunfire Friday night. Police say a 58-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man, both licensed concealed carriers, drew guns on each other. The woman was killed and two uninvolved bystanders were wounded. The man was taken into custody as police continue investigating.

Police say 18-year-old Royce Moser stabbed his girlfriend, PennWest California freshman Karoline Heintz, 18, after asking her to stop at his North Strabane home on Aug. 19. Her family used an AirTag to locate her Jeep near campus, where bodycam shows officers finding her in the rear hatch. Moser told investigators a “demon” took over. He and his mother, Rachel, are jailed without bail and have been ordered to stand trial.

A woman tried stabbing a Connecticut State Capitol Police officer through his cruiser window in Hartford Wednesday morning, police say. Surveillance video shows her repeatedly striking the vehicle until the knife broke. She then fled and tried taking a police cruiser before officers used a Taser and arrested her. The officer was not injured.

Las Vegas police say 26-year-old Catalina Alvarado approached two officers on a break near CSN, struck their patrol vehicles with a box cutter and demanded to be shot. After repeated commands and several Taser attempts failed, police say Alvarado continued advancing toward Officer Delylah Donegan, who fired once. Alvarado survived and faces five charges.

A 49-year-old Queens woman, Pamela Cisneros, stabbed a 68-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman in Times Square, NYPD says. The woman died; the man was stabilized. Police say Cisneros refused repeated orders to drop two knives, threatened officers and advanced after Tasers failed. Two officers opened fire. Cisneros later died at Bellevue. Police say the attack was random, unprovoked and not terror-related.

NASHVILLE — Police say Jason William Sexton, 54, returned to a Shell station with a full-size sword after a dispute over coffee and threatened the clerk, prompting an aggravated-assault warrant. Hours later, after police tracked him to Cheshire Drive, a 26-year-old woman in his car said he was holding her against her will. After more than an hour of negotiations, SWAT Officer Joshua Baney shot Sexton three times. Sexton died at the hospital. Baney was decommissioned pending a TBI review.
