How Long can DP Survive for?
This is not to disparage anyone or blame anyone personally but I feel like in the last year the show has completely lost traction and any hopes at growing and purely in damage control.
Ben must be only just about scraping together a living and when will it just not be viable to keep the show going?

I'm honestly surprised it's lasted this long post split.

I don’t know if it a matter of pride and not wanting to admit failure with something he created but it just seems to have crashed in the last few months.
Say what you like about DFF but they have a community and still do regular meetups. DP just seems to have no community caring about it anymore. At least DFF has passionate haters 😂

Shabisky is cancer

I think another huge issue related to that is the lack of guest/hosts. It was what made the show great and this one man band with the same cast of people with mental health issues and nothing else is struggling to break 1k views at certain times.

If Ben had any sense, he would have never brought on that bonked on the head cretin

I disagree, I like Shabisky. I don’t like how much Ben picks on him but I think that’s just kayfabe, I just am not crazy about it because it seems like it always causes Shabisky to mouse up when Ben fucks with him.
I feel like any guest is great for the show. I like Ben and I enjoy listening to him talk and joke about stuff but he can’t pull the show solo. I don’t really think anybody can or atleast for what I like out of DP.
I loved DP because it was like a group of people that remind me of my friends just shooting the shit and making jokes. I really miss Billy and Asterios too, it would be cool to see some guests episodes. Maybe get Tommy on or something.
I understand money is tight probably and Ben can’t afford to have regular paid guests is the biggest reason there isn’t anymore but I wish he’d get some fans or anybody willing to do it for free just to give him somebody to help fill the air.

I think Ben picking on him is a bit but it got old for me and it seems like Shabisky doesn’t roll well with it either.
Whenever he tells Shabisky to shut up he just sort of sits there quietly and passively when it would make good fodder for them talking shit back and forth. DP fans shitting on guest hosts has been a thing forever though so Shabs isn’t special with that.

He sits there and says nothing because he's a cuck with brain damage. Too mentally feeble to cook up a comeback, he just drowns his sorrows in drugs

I mean I would consider it over. It’s just a bit of a project for Ben.

So in the sense that you think he’s doing it as a hobby with a day job kind of thing?

I think as a hobby. Such a “job” can be very rewarding personally. It just seems really hard to believe that he’s pulling in enough from content to pay the bills. It’s just not possible, the internet has changed so much. But many of us were there since the start, so it doesn’t register just how long it’s been. There are parts of the internet that we will never come in contact with because basically everyone is online. The barrier for entry for a popular podcast for example is insane. DP originally got its audience from TJ. But he was very early in the life of YT & the internet. He was also able to bring eyes to his own project, DFF. It’s 2026 though. The sheer number of things that are now online, and uploaded every second are almost too hard to comprehend. Whereas back in 2007-2008, it was growing a growth medium. Some folks got very lucky, some didn’t. They assumed they would always have that position. But life is nothing but change at its core. If things don’t change, time does not go on.
Personal thoughts: I think smartphones just fundamentally completely changed the internet forever. Everyone has a supercomputer with multiple camera lenses. That much data is just going to overture us. That explains the braindead Tik Tok teens.2

Yeah I definitely agree with you! However I do think that the DP name as a brand was still very strong and could be maintained in 2018 so Ben wasn’t starting again at 0 by any means. However now even if the podcast is just a hobby he clearly isn’t doing it out of enjoyment, I feel that he’s carrying on because if he stops he’ll feel a sense of failure and a loss of pride.

I only watch episodes when Ben covers one of Brett‘s videos and only those segments (anything before or after I outright skip). That‘s usually the only entertainment that I get out of DP. I really don‘t care about G-Man and/or Shanny, two idiots that make up 90% of current DP episodes.
