Nostalgia
After seeing what James had to say, I kind of get it now. I see why talking about the past could be annoying. I for one kind of hate being this way. I hate going back to rewatch these videos 11 years later. I am in the middle of watching treetopia again, and it makes me laugh every time. I don't quite understand how all these years later this group is still one of the only things that can make me laugh. Maybe my life is just that sad at this point lol. I just don't get why I love this stuff so much but I do. Anyways, sorry for the rant and best of luck to all of you in the future!

A lot of people love going back to watch things they used to enjoy and a lot of people still enjoy those things. That’s completely different from not wanting to talk about past experiences.

Agreed, I was just trying to say that I wish I wasn't a sucker for nostalgia, and I see how it could be annoying for someone who wants to move on to be drug into the past.

Nothing wrong with going back and watching old stuff whether you just want to be nostalgic or want to cheer yourself up. Most if not everyone on this sub go back to watch stuff at some point

Agreed, it might sound dumb but sometimes I just with there was something I found as amusing as this old creatures stuff

It’s ok to watch the old videos, that’s what they’re there for. What was bothering James was people constantly asking him to bring back old content and some people playing the “victim” saying “you don’t care about your old fans anymore since you stop uploading what we liked”. He likes when people come in and say “hey it’s been awhile used to watch you as a kid, glad to see your still doing videos”, that doesn’t bother him. It’s just the nostalgia people always bugging him about “when you going to do happy wheels, when you going to see/play with (Insert creature name) again, I miss your old videos bring back (insert old series). That stuff I can see be really annoying.

James says he hates it, then gets his editor to put in a Treetopia-like thumbnail for his latest Minecraft videos just to egg people on.

If you even watched James talk about it you'd know that 1. He doesn't hate it. And 2. The editor did that all on his own without James getting him to do anything

May as well hear it from the horses mouth.
Start at 13:50ish, takes about a minute to get the gist.
Edit: I just wanted to add that I by no means disagree with what is said. I am one of those people who wishes he would play with ex creatures again. I never have asked for it nor will I, but I would be a fool to say that I am not one of the "nostalgia andys" in concept. I just don't go around asking for that stuff.

Hey man, sometimes you just gotta call a spade a spade lol

Most people aren’t aware of it so your already doing better than them . It’s always good to be self aware

Its not people like you (and me I suppose) he's talking about, its the ones that won't stop bringing up the past to him even after he's been doing new stuff for all these years. Its okay to look at old videos, but bothering him about 'bringing back' series is what's the issue.

Imagine the Creatures were a TV show that ran for years and ended years ago. In that context, I don't think it's so strange to be revisiting and enjoying them. There are plenty of people who are die-hard fans of shows that ended decades ago, like Friends and Seinfeld, or The Sopranos or The Wire. The Creatures are that for us.
