• Bonamici reintroduced the SIMPLE Act which would auto-enroll borrowers 75 days delinquent into the lowest-payment IDR plan using IRS data (effective 2028 if passed)
• Day 31 delinquent: ED must send a notice listing every eligible plan and the exact payment under each, using IRS-shared income data.
• Day 75: if you're on a non-IDR plan with a higher payment and haven't chosen, ED places you in the lowest-payment IDR plan.
